Abstract

Along with the development of the times, national values are increasingly eroded by foreign cultures that easily enter Indonesia. An example of the influence of foreign culture is the Korean Wave, which Indonesian teenagers widely love. This is caused by the weakness of national values possessed by the young generation in Indonesia. National values themselves need to be instilled from an early age until adolescence to avoid various problems that often occur in the teenage environment, such as the decline in politeness and the forgetting of Pancasila values among teenagers. National values need to be instilled by utilizing various available media. One of the media that can be used is the Jaran Pegon art, which still has many fans to this day. Therefore, this study aims to explain the national valuescontained in the Jaran Pegon culture, which is typical of Kediri. This study is classified as qualitative research, utilizing interview techniques with relevant parties to gather the necessary information. The results obtained from this study reveal the presence of strong national values, such as divinity, unity, and patriotism, in the art of Jaran Pegon and Javanese songs used within this art form. With many enthusiasts spread across Kediri and its surroundings, Jaran Pegon has the opportunity to instill national values in the general public through its performing arts.

Abstract

Language is a mental image that aims to convey the author's thoughts and feelings in a literary work. Language in novels, which describes the author's imagination, is an interesting stylistic object to study. According to stylistic experts, there are five different types of imagery: sight, sound, movement, touch, and smell. The novel Aksaranita, written by Buminyakala, utilizes all five types of imagery. The novel tells the story of how Aksara's presence changes Saranita's view of the world, including love, before he leaves her without a word. The purpose of the research is to find out, describe, analyze, and interpret the data on the types of imagery in the novel Aksasanita by Buminyakala. This research uses a qualitative approach. Using descriptive research methods. The data collection technique used by the author is the hermeneutic technique. The data analysis technique is based on content analysis. The data validity technique uses the triangulation technique. The results of the research on image analysis in the novel Aksaranita Karya Buminyakala show that the overall image is dominated by visual imagery and motion imagery, for auditory imagery and tactile imagery are quite significant in the novel. While olfactory imagery has less data found. The five images play an important role in the novel Aksarnita Karya Buminyakala to create a picture based on the imagination of the narrator in the novel. This research enriches literary studies, especially in the field of stylistics and imagery theory, and helps understand how language shapes meaning and aesthetic experience in texts. The analysis results of this research can be utilized in the learning of literature, the development of literary criticism. Thus, image analysis not only reveals the beauty of language in novels, but also makes a real contribution to the learning of Indonesian Language and Literature.

Abstract

In the teaching process, educators are expected to take an active role in adapting and delivering diverse teaching strategies. However, a careful examination of the SMP Islam Setia Nurul Azmi classroom reveals persistent challenges in the implementation of effective instructional methods, primarily attributable to the paucity of instructional media available to the teachers. This shortage has a deleterious effect on student motivation. The objective of this study is to develop comic-based educational media focused on fable texts for seventh-grade students, with the aim of enhancing their writing skills. The research methodology employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the 4-D model by Thiagarajan, comprising the following stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. Data were collected through expert validations and response questionnaires. The media was rated as highly feasible by media experts (90%), content experts (100%), and linguists (86%). A study of usability assessments revealed high practicality scores from teachers (91%) and students (81%). The effectiveness of the assessments was confirmed by an 83% student mastery rate, which is classified as "very effective." Consequently, the comic-based learning media developed through the 4-D model is regarded as highly suitable for utilization as a supportive instructional resource in the classroom.

Abstract

Gramsci's hegemony study offers an innovative perspective on literature, which does not merely reflect class structures, but also has autonomous social, political and cultural dimensions. The short story Mata Celurit represents the local political reality of Madura, especially in the village head election, which is full of power struggles and cunning intrigues. This research is based on descriptive qualitative method, with the main object of Mata Celurit short story published on Kompas website. The unit of analysis used in this research refers to Gramsci's theory of hegemony, which is associated with the political phenomenon of Madurese society in the local democratic event, namely the election of kalebun (village head). The primary source of this research is the short story Mata Celurit, which is strengthened by secondary sources in the form of master books, journal articles, and relevant research. The researcher acts as a key instrument in the process of analysing the short story. The data collection technique is done through reading and note-taking, literature review, and data tabulation. Furthermore, the tabulated data was analysed in depth using the discourse analysis method. To ensure the validity of the data, researchers applied data triangulation techniques. Based on the results and discussion, it was found that ideological domination exercised by the political community to hegemonise civil society includes tyrannical power, material as a political instrument, covert threat actions, religious legitimacy, and political manipulation and intimidation. Meanwhile, the ideological domination of civil society includes opposing political dynasties and obedience to the ruling authority. Through the resulting discourse, Mata Celurit presents the phenomenon of percaton land as an issue that influences hegemony. Gramsci's analysis of hegemony reflects that the author not only presents a person (society), but also serves to reveal the hegemony exercised in political contestation in the village in Madurese society. This research can be an inspiration for the community, academics, and writers to be more sensitive to hegemonic practices that occur in the surrounding environment, especially in the context of village politics in Madura. Mata Celurit short story can be used as a critical literacy media to increase public awareness about the importance of understanding and criticising the domination of power.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of understanding the relationship between personality traits and children's language development, particularly in the area of morphology. The aim of this research is to describe the differences in morphological development in eight-year-old girls with introverted and extroverted personality types. This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. The research subjects consist of three girls: two with introverted personalities and one with an extroverted personality. All three subjects are students at a public elementary school located in the Kranggan area, Bekasi City. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, using image-based stimuli designed to elicit written linguistic responses. The primary data consist of the children’s written texts, which were analyzed with a focus on their acquisition of morphological forms, including prefixes, suffixes, circumfixes, and reduplications. The findings show that the three subjects produced a total of 340 affixes, comprising 91 prefixes, 12 suffixes, 61 circumfixes, and 23 reduplications. The differences in personality types appear to influence the variation and quantity of morphological forms used by each child. Theoretically, this research contributes to psycholinguistic studies, particularly in exploring how psychological factors affect language development. Practically, the findings can be utilized by teachers, speech therapists, and parents as a foundation for designing language learning strategies that are tailored to the child’s personality traits in order to optimize their linguistic potential.

Abstract

Banua Language is one of the languages originating from the province of East Kalimantan. Banua Language is part of the Austronesian language family. This research on Banua Language uses a syntactic typology approach. The aim of this study is to explain the behavior of subjects in clause construction within Banua Language. As a regional language in East Kalimantan, Banua Language has a unique syntactic structure. Not much research has been done on the function and position of subjects in this language. Therefore, this study examines subjecthood through canonical position, relativization, and control, the three main tools according to Keenan and Comrie (1983). The distributional method was used to analyze data collected from native speakers through elicitation and uninvolved observation techniques. The study shows that in Banua Language, the subject always precedes the verb in both intransitive and transitive clauses. Additionally, the subject can be relativized exclusively using the form "anu". Furthermore, the subject can be controlled in serial verb constructions, but arguments without subjects do not exhibit the same characteristics. The findings indicate that Banua Language has subjecthood properties that align with universal syntactic principles and contribute to the typological mapping of Indonesian languages. The theoretical implication of this research is expected to strengthen the theory of subjecthood from a syntactic typology perspective and provide a global linguistic database. In addition, the practical implication expected from this research is to serve as a means for preserving the regional language and a foundation for developing the Banua Language grammar.
