Abstract

This research is attempted to figure out the nature and essence of performance assessment in the point if view of lecturers of higher educational instituion around Madiun Municipality. Theories have launched their judgement that performance assessment is regarded better than a sole pencil-and-paper test, in terms that it records the broader scope of students achievement, not only cognitively but also affectively and psychomotorically. Inspite of the approval from lecturers that performance assessment is theoretically better than pencil-and-paper test, they (lecturers) are reluctant to implement the performance assessment model, for its complicated natures. The research method applied to get data is survey, so as to draw ‘mapping’ of lecturers responds on performance assessment. The result of the analysis shows contradiction between what lecturers say and what they do in relation to the implentation of performance assessment.Key words  :  performance assessment, dilema

Abstract

Education   service   quality very irrespective   influence   that given from a service user expectation with that perception  by service user. One of the factor that determine  customer  satisfaction  service quality    that    consist    of   five    service    dimensions:     reliability, responsiveness,   assurance,  empathy, and tangible.  Education  service quality  baseds  on from  human  resource  that  is lecturer,  staff,  and facilities.   This  research   aim detects  student  university   perception towards  education  service  quality  FIP IKIP PGRI  MADIUN.  This research uses to approach   quantitative as a mean to analyze difference between perception and expectation student  university towards education service. This research is done to describe service quality and student university     satisfaction      level.    Research respondent   as  much  as  293  student     niversities   from   total   1099 student   universities.    Sample  taking   uses   technique    proportional random  sampling.  Research  data is got by using closed model inquiry instrument.  Data analysis  technique  that used:  descriptive  analysis; analysis   of  variance;   and  analysis   performance    and  importance matrix.   Research   result  shows  that:  (1)  level  expectation   student university  about  education  service  quality  belongs  in category  very high; (2) student university  perception  level about education service quality  belongs  in high  category;  and (3) there  difference  between expectation        and   student   university    perception    about   education service quality.Key words:  Education Service Quality, Expectation,  Perception

Abstract

The objectives  of this research is to serve for description  about the significance of  managerial    skill  of  the  head-masters    and  the schools   culture towards the teachers performance at the state and private   MTs  in  Madiun   District.   The  population   of  this  research includes  651  teachers,  and the  sample  drawn  out of the population covers 90 teachers. The  techniques   of  accumulating the data are questionnaire and documentation. The data  analysis techniques applied are descriptive  statistics  and inferential  statistics  under multiple regression  statistic technique.  The analysis on the data results in conclusion   that there is a significance   influence  of the managerial skill of the head-masters  and the schools  culture towards the teachers performance     at the  state  and private  MTs  in Madiun  District   (the working F= 32.331 > table F = 2.000). The significance of the managerial skill  of the head-masters   towards  the teachers  performance is also put  in research.  The  research   also  put in description  about  the managerial   skill  of the  head-masters,    the schools culture and  the teachers   performance   at state and private  MTs in Madiun District.Key terms : managerial skill of the head-masters, schools’ culture and teachers performance.

Abstract

Learning is a teaching learning process through the creation of comfortable and effective learning environment. In general, contextual learning is considered as a concept which helps teachers relate the content of the learning material to the real situation and drive students to make some relationship between the working knowledge and its application in their lives as family as well as society members. This research is aimed at (1) describing that the result of IPS learning through CTL with the best benefit of environment as the learning source is better than conventional learning, (2) describing that students response toward CTL leaning with the best benefit of environment as the learning source is better than conventional learning, (3) describing the existing constraints when the learning through CTL is at work. The research design is of experimental feature with two group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this research cover forty four-year students of State Elementary School 01 Kartoharjo Madiun each for experimental group or class and control group or class. The research instruments used to collect the data include questionnaire, learning test, and observation sheet. Based upon the result of the analysis it is found that (1) the learning result of the students joining the CTL learning activities is better when compared with that of those joining the conventional learning. The mean of the experimental class after the treatment of CTL learning is 83 while the mean of the control class with conventional learning is 62.68; (2) the students’ response towards the implementation of CTL learning is generally positive, (3) the existing constraints are due to the fact that the learning facilities and time allotment are limited and the number of the students is too big. The conclusion is that the research using CTL learning indicates better learning result and better students’ response than that of conventional learning.Key Words: CTL Approach, Environment, IPS Learning Source

Abstract

The object of this study were 1) to determine the effect of deductive - Inductive Science Thinking Model on student achievement, 2) to determine the effect of creativity on learning achievement , 3) to determine the interaction between deductive-Inductive Science Thinking Model with the creativity of the learning achievement .This study used an experimental method . The population is students of Biology in semester VI IKIP PGRI Madiun academic year 2012/2013. Sampling using cluster random sampling technique that consists of two classes, one class for learning deductive - Inductive Thinking Model Science and other class on non deductive-Inductive Thinking Science Model. Hypotheses were analyzed using 2-way ANOVA with a 2x2 factorial design .The results of this study after testing the hypothesis at 95% confidence level is 1) no effect on the use of models of learning achievement , 2) there is the influence of creativity on learning achievement, 3) there is an interaction between the model of learning and creativity on learning achievement.Key words: Deductive-Inductive, creativity, learning achievement

Abstract

This research is intended to: 1) identify the effectiveness of computer-based media in teaching Social Science. 2) depict the attraction of computer multimedia in teaching Social Science. This research is carried out under experimental design with pre-test and post-test on Elementary School of Percobaan II, Caturtunggal, Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta, Fourth Grade, Semetser Two, Term 2007/2008. The subjects of the research consist of 42 students who belong to control class and 44 students who belong to experiment class, who are drawn under random sampling technique. The data drawn by test applied to both groups are analyzed by means of independent t-test to identify the effectiveness of multimedia. To identify the attraction of multimedia the data are drawn under descriptive-quantitative method. Treatment is carried out for the experiment class by making use of storyboard which is validated by 1 expert in multimedia and 1 expert of teaching materials. The implementation is carried out on 6 students of small group and 36 students of large group.The analysis shows a significant different of achievement between control and experiment classes. The counted t (by 6.5) is higher than the table t (by 2.39) under 0.000 < 0.01 of significance value for df (degree of freedom) of 84. Ho is then disapproved indicating that there is significant different of the students’ achievement under both classes. The overall attraction of multimedia is tentatively high, with the average score of 4.2 (at 1-5 scale) out of 22 indicators measuring graphic, animation, video, colour, letters, backing music.Key words:          effectiveness, teaching Social Science, computer-based multimedia.

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to describe the teacher as prefession and development of teacher profession as honourable and respectable profession. Teacher profession is considered as profession if it fulfills some criteria: providing self-working based service, having strong comitment, qualification which based on knowledge and specific skill ownership got from long and tight training, providing service which is given seriously, getting payment from client, and being controlled by peer when acquiring the profession. Abstract

The objectives of entrepreneur apprenticeship education of the students of IKIP PGRI Madiun are: 1) to develop the students achievement in softskill/technology, work and entrepreneurship experience; 2) to motivate students to become entrepreneurs; 3) to enable students to get practical experience; and 4) to establish partnership between IKIP PGRI Madiun and PKPRI Madiun Municipality.Output targets of the apprenticeship are: 1) the participants obtain the skill for managing business, 2) 50% of the participants can arrange business plan, 3) the participants master marketting management, 4) it establishes the healthy partenership between IKIP PGRI Madiun and PKPRI Madiun Municipality.The specific success criterion shows that all 8 participants are able to arrange business plan. The indicator of apprenticeship success  can not be recently measured because of their being of part-timer business conduct. Keywords  :  softskill, entrepreneur, apprenticeship.

Abstract

Teaching is a complex act and there are many reasons lessons may work in one situation and not in another. In the instructional activities, the teachers too often try to begin with a lesson in mind instead of with goals in mind. Even with goals, they want to jump to the lesson before investigating the how the content develops and what prior knowledge students must have. Moreover, in some educational practice, many courses enroll students with a broad range of backgrounds, previous educational experiences, majors, interests, motivations as well as levels of important prior knowledge and skills. In many instances, this diversity often leads to various problems that need solutions. In this case, lesson study may be one of the alternative solutions. Base on this fenomenon, this study will serves a thorough discussion on: 1) the nature of lesson study, 2) the importance of lesson study, 3) the steps in lesson study, and 4) the development of lesson study.The analysis results in conclusions that 1) Lesson study, the primary form of professional development for Japanese teachers, is a teaching improvement activity in which instructors jointly develop, teach, observe, analyze and revise lessons for their courses. Lesson study teams build knowledge about how students learn in their discipline, produce a lesson that can be used by others, and create manuscripts for possible publication, presentation, and inclusion in teaching portfolios. The main goal of lesson study is continual improvement of teaching so that learners will learn more. Its primary focus is how students think and learn 2) Lesson study is one of the alternative solutions for the ineffective teaching activities. Lesson study systematically improves the instructional activities through collaborative inquiry. Moreover, there are some benefits can be taken from the lesson study: (a) The teachers can manage and administer the progress of their teaching activities, (b) They can get the valuable feetback from the other teachers, and (c) They can produce published scientific writing as the result of the implementation of the lesson study. 3) A lesson study cycle consists of  plan, do, check and act (PDCA). Plan is establishing the objectives and processes necessary to deliver results in accordance with the expected output. By making the expected output the focus, it differs from other techniques in that the completeness and accuracy of the specification is also part of the improvement. Do is mplementing the new processes, often on a small scale if possible. Check is measuring the new processes and compare the results against the expected results to ascertain any differences. Act is analyzing the differences to determine their cause. Each will be part of either one or more of the P-D-C-A steps.  4) The lesson study program can be developed in various ways.  It can be developed in the preservice or inservice training program for the teachers, and even it can be brought into the real classroom research activities, namely the classroom action research (CAR).Lesson study changes us forever as a teacher.  The process of lesson study has been incredible. So much learning has taken place.
