Abstract

Science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) have been applied in various countries because they have been able to answer the challenges of the globalization era. The implementation of STEAM at school has demanded that teachers have a role in making a relationship between disciplines in science contained in STEAM. The purpose of this research was to describe the perceptions of experienced teachers about math-focused STEAM learning. The research was a descriptive study on 14 vocational high school mathematics teachers in Malang, Indonesia. They had 20-30 years of teaching experience. Data were collected using essay questionnaires. The result showed that their perceptions of STEAM learning were positive. However, they also said that there were several obstacles to math-focused STEAM learning. The first obstacle was the unavailability of supporting literature. The second obstacle was that there were teachers who have no received training. The third obstacle was only a limited number of mathematics material that can be applied in STEAM learning. Additionally, the teacher stated that mathematics was more suitable as supporting contain in STEAM learning than as the primary focus.

Abstract

This research aimed to examine the implementation of a scientific approach on biology learning of grade X state senior high school in Wonogiri viewed from teacher's employment status. It is descriptive research using the observation method. The subject involved Biology teachers of grade X and the students of grade X as many as 1 class from each school. Employing a convenience sampling technique, the researchers selected a sample of 6 biology teachers from grade X. The independent variable was the biology teacher's employment status, and the dependent variable was the scientific implementation approach on biology learning. The instrument used in this research was an observation sheet. The acquired data then analyzed descriptively. The research results have indicated that biology teachers' employment status who is a civil servant or non-civil servant has implemented the scientific approach well. The students' involvement and activity were positive during the learning process.

Abstract

This study was based on several language errors in the intensive class student PP MAS Nasyi’in Sidoarjo when speaking Arabic, both in terms of the order in which words and sentences were laid out and the grammar or rules. Therefore, it is necessary to design learning materials to improve speaking skills specifically for intensive class students of the PP MAS “A” group Nasyi’in. The formulation of the problem is: (1) What are the characteristics of the book design of speaking skill learning for intensive class “A” group PP MAS Nasyi’in?, (2) How effective design book learning of speaking skill for intensive classes group “A” of PP MAS Nasyi’in? The objectivitas of this study are: (1) To find out the characteristics of the book design of the speaking skill learning for intensive class  “A” PP MAS Nasyi’in, (2) To find out the effectiveness of the speaking skill learning for intensive class  “A” PP MAS Nasyi’in. The research method is Research and Development (R D). Data collection used was observation, interviews, questionnaires and tests. The tests used in this study were pre-test and post-test. The 6 steps in making this design book are observation, data collection, design of learning material, 1st validation, book experiment and 2nd validation. From the test result tested, the result of the data obtained are as follows: t count 3.67 and t table 2.718. So, if t count is greater than t table then the design of learning is effective. Conversely, if t count is smaller than t table, the learning design is not effective. Thus it can be concluded that the design of the material made by this researcher is considered effective and has an influence in improving the skills of speaking Arabic in intensive class students of the PP MAS “A” group Nasyi’in. The design book has a different character. These characters can be seen from several aspect, including: (1) Learning Material Aspects: The material prepared is the conversation of local material as well as ta’birat al istilahiyyah needed by students, (2) Language Aspect: The language used in this design book is simple, (3) Psycological Aspect: The use of names and images in the design book is nothing but the name of the intensive class students themselves so that it adds to their motivation

Abstract

The research aims to identify factors influencing the learning outcome on microeconomics theories of social education students of UIN Malang. Theoretically, factors influencing learning outcomes are varied. Therefore, the researcher collaborates some opinions on factors influencing learning outcomes, and the process generates 25 subfactors. The research employs a quantitative descriptive method. The data was collected using questionnaires of the Likert scale and distributed to all research subjects. The researcher employed a confirmatory analysis model to analyze the data. The result showed that there are seven factors influencing learning outcomes on the economy subject: 1). The ability of students and lecturer related to the element on background knowledge, teaching method, course interest, learning manner, lecturer’s explanation; 2). The Learning method about student learning style, learning the habit, and determining intensity; 3). The Students’ initial modal formed by factors such as previous experience, talent, benefit, and intelligence;  4). The variable of sex and age creates the readiness factor;  5). The facility factor formed by the variable of classroom facilities and the financial situation;  6). The moral condition and family support create the psychology factor; 7). The last element is learning drive is formed by the variable of recitation and motivation.

Abstract

This study was designed to explore culture shock experiences faced by Indonesian university students in doing teaching practice and community service in southern border province Thailand, and to describe the strategies used to deal with cultural differences and problems. There were thirty eight students of university from twelve universities in Indonesia who responded to the open-ended questionnaires sent by the writer through google docs link. The data were analysed using grounded theory code as basis for the thematic analysis. The findings revealed that there were six culture shock experienced by Indonesian university students, namely: language and communication problems, life style and cultural differences, social support and making friends, positive experiences, academic problems, and psychological problems. The most dominant shock experience faced by Indonesian university students was positive experiences. As for the strategies to deal with cultural differences and problems, there were found four strategies used by Indonesian university students, namely: self-confidence and optimism, accepting new culture, seeking social support, and language training. The most strategy mentioned by Indonesian university students was accepting new culture.

Abstract

Social problems in Indonesia in particular are caused by social phenomena transmitted to users of social media, especially Twitter. Big data system provided by Drone Emprit Academic is able to find social phenomena. The ability of critical literacy to read and write supported by statistical data is very important in the 4.0 era. The aim of the research is to find out which Drone Emprit Academic works, analyzes, and displays data on social phenomena whose results can be used to support critical Literacy. This research uses a qualitative approach, literature study method. The analysis includes three stages, namely organize, synthesize, identify. The results of this study that Drone Emprit Academic is a big data system that carries out social network analysis of specific conversations on Twitter in semi-realtime and detail. The form displayed is in the form of a percentage of trends, retweet relationships, mentioning trend graphs, most retweet statuses, conversation trends. The data generated can help read information about social phenomena so that it can support critical literacy which has been partially published in online and offline media.

Abstract

The news hoax and radical understand like a chain that is not separated. Both are very dangerous and have the potential to damage the unity and integrity of the nation and state. This concern encourages researchers to conduct research and assistance for mosque media managers. The sample in this study was the manager of Radio el-Jannah 100.9 FM Malang. This research uses a qualitative approach with four stages: data collection, training, assistance and evaluation. The results of this study indicate that the function of the mosque remains as a center for community empowerment so that it needs to have communication media, one of which is radio which still has a loyal audience segment. The manager of the mosque radio must master the skills of mass communication so that the message broadcast can be well received by the viewers, because from the results of this study it was found that the manager of the mosque's radio had never learned about mass communication. Message and radio broadcast material must be valid, selected, and aimed at educating the public to ward off hoax news and radical understanding.

Abstract

Language is a communication system that cannot  separated from any human life. A person's language skills  filled with various aspects that interrelated with each other, such as aspects of health, environment, intelligence, and other elements. However, someone who is interrupted by his speech function will also experience issues of his language. This study written to describe the form of expression experienced by stutterers, what factors influence stuttering behavior, and the influence of stuttering behavior on the process of communication with others. This study uses a qualitative approach to analytical methods. First, the researcher listens to the stutterers, conducts interviews, examines the data, and then analyzes it. Based results analysis, it  found stuttering language experienced subject study occurred in all the sentences came out of his speech. His stuttering behavior has caused by environmental factors where he experiences constant fear, which then impacts his speech function in the long term. Because of his stuttering behavior, his communication with others was limited and very disturbed.اللغة هي نظام الاتصال لا يمكن فصلها عن أي حياة بشرية ما. يتم المهارات اللغوية الشخصية بجوانب متنوعة مترابطة ببعضها البعض كجوانب الصحة والبيئة والاستخبارات والجوانب الأخرى. فإن الشخص الذي يضطرب من خلال وظيفته في التحدث سيختبر أيضًا من جوانب لغته. تمت كتابة هذه الدراسة بهدف وصف شكل اللغة التي يواجه المتلعثمون، ما العوامل التي تؤثر على سلوك التأتأة، وتأثير السلوك المتعثر على عملية التواصل مع الآخرين. استخدمت هذه الدراسة نهجًا كيفيا بدراسة الحالة مع أساليب تحليلية. أولاً، استمع الباحثان إلى المتلعثم، ويقومان بإجراء المقابلات، ويفحصان البيانات ثم يحللانها. استناداً إلى نتائج التحليل، وجد أن اللغة المتعثرة التي خاضها موضوع هذه الدراسة وقعت في جميع الجمل التي خرجت من خطابه. ويتسبب سلوكه المتلعثم بعوامل بيئية حيث يعاني من خوف دائم مما يؤثر على وظيفته في الكلام والخطاب. بسبب تصرفاته المتعثرة، كان تواصله مع الآخرين محدودًا ومزعجًا للغاية
