Abstract

This research aims to analyze student’s needs for interactive e-module teaching materials based on Canva in the Arabic language subject focusing on the topic of al-sa’ah for Grade VIII at MTsN 2 Sinjai, describe the development procedures of Canva-based interactive e-module teaching materials, and assess the validity and practicality of these teaching materials. This study is a type of research and development (R&D) designed to produce Canva-based interactive e-modules. The research design employs the 4D model by Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel, which includes the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The results of the research and development consist of a needs analysis showing the demand for Canva-based interactive e-modules. The validity analysis of the developed e-module falls into the "highly valid" category, with a validity percentage of 93.75% from material expert and 96.16% from media expert. Furthermore, the practicality test results indicate that the Canva-based interactive e-module is rated "highly practical" by teachers and students, making it suitable for use in Arabic language learning on the topic of al-sa’ah for Grade VIII. This study has implications for the availability of digital teaching materials for the Arabic language subject, specifically on the topic of al-sa’ah for Grade VIII, which meets validity and practicality requirements. The e-module supports self-regulated learning by allowing students to control their learning pace and practice independently through interactive features. However, this study has some limitations, namely that it has not yet tested the long-term effectiveness of the e-module, leaving room for further research on the impact of this e-module on improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Arabic possesses a high degree of phonological complexity due to the existence of distinctive phonemes, which poses a major challenge for non-native learners, especially those whose first language (L1), such as Indonesian, lacks these sounds. The imprecise realization of phonemes directly affects semantic comprehension and communication effectiveness. This study employed a qualitative error analysis approach based on diagnostic data from 21 student at Mawa’idzunnisyan Islaming Boarding School to identify, classify, and clarify the phonological deviations. The research focuses on three aspects: identifying the Arabic phonemes most vulnerable to error and determining their error frequency; describing the resulting error typology and analyzing the role of L1 phonological interference in explaining the observed error patterns. The research findings indicate that the Ḥalq phonemes ع, ح, خ are critical phonemes with the highest error rates (reaching 61,9% of cases), predominantly showing the substitution typology. The most frequent substitutions involve the replacement of ح with ه and ع withأ . These error patterns are strongly explained by L1 interference, where learners attempt to replace target phonemes with the closest sounds present in the Indonesian phonological system. This study strives to identify critical phonemes, describe dominant error patterns, and outline the root causes of errors through an examination of L1 interference. These results provide an empirical foundation for adjusting instructional materials, particularly through contrastive articulatory drills targeting pharyngeal and uvular fricatives absent in Indonesian.

Abstract

The rapid development of social media, particularly TikTok, has had a significant impact on children's character, including emotional, moral, and social aspects. This article discusses the negative impacts of TikTok use on children's character development and highlights the strategic role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in addressing these influences. A literature review found that excessive TikTok use can trigger emotional instability, decreased focus on learning, addictive behaviour, imitation of immoral content, and decreased self-confidence due to unrealistic social standards. In addressing this phenomenon, Islamic Religious Education teachers have a crucial role as character mentors, digital literacy facilitators, role models of Islamic values, and collaborative partners for parents and the school community. Possible measures include integrating character education into Islamic Religious Education learning, developing digital ethics, assisting students in selecting content, and strengthening religious activities as a form of internalising Islamic values. This article emphasises that character development in the digital era requires a holistic approach that combines moral education, digital literacy, and collaboration between schools and families to enable students to use social media wisely and ethically.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need for QuizWhizzer as an evaluation tool in the Arabic language tarkib test for eighth-grade students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 1 Padang City. This study used a mixed methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches to obtain a more comprehensive picture of the need for such an evaluation tool. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and expert validation of questionnaires. The study subjects consisted of 29 eighth-grade VIII.1 students and one Arabic language teacher. Data were collected over a two-week period through validated questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The results showed that the learning evaluations currently conducted by teachers still use conventional methods, using paper and pen, which are time-consuming. Meanwhile, students expressed a desire to be able to see the evaluation results directly. Based on the questionnaire data, the need for analysis from teachers reached 85%, while from students it was 80%. These findings indicate that both teachers and students have a high need for the implementation of digital-based evaluation tools, particularly the use of QuizWhizzer in the Arabic language tarkib test.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of applying the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model assisted by handouts on the nahwu learning outcomes of Grade VIII students at SMP IT Al-Ishlah Maros. It also compares the learning outcomes between students who are taught using the STAD cooperative learning model with handout assistance and those who receive direct instruction. The background of this research is based on the low nahwu learning outcomes, which are attributed to less varied teaching methods and limited instructional time. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically the posttest-only control group design. The population consisted of all Grade VIII students at SMP IT Al-Ishlah Maros in the current academic year, totaling 112 students. The sample, determined through purposive sampling, comprised 42 students divided into two classes: the experimental class, which used the STAD model with handout assistance, and the control class, which used direct instruction. The research instrument was a learning achievement test in the form of multiple-choice items and sentence construction tasks. The results showed a significant difference in learning outcomes between the students taught using the STAD model with handout assistance, who achieved a higher average score of 79.17, and those taught using direct instruction, who obtained a lower average score of 42.17. This finding was confirmed by an independent t-test, which produced a t-value of 10.208 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The implications of this study indicate that the STAD cooperative learning model assisted by handouts can serve as an effective alternative to improve students’ nahwu learning outcomes. Therefore, teachers are encouraged to incorporate this model as part of their instructional strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam/PAI) teachers in shaping students’ religious character through Aqidah Akhlak instruction at MI Sultan Fatah Demak, Central Java, Indonesia. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the study involved 12 participants, including PAI teachers, the madrasah principal, and students. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, and analysed thematically. The findings show that PAI teachers play a strategic role as educators, spiritual guides, and moral role models in fostering students’ religious discipline, moral awareness, social ethics, religious understanding, and self-control in responding to negative influences, including digital media. The internalisation of Islamic values is strengthened through the integration of cognitive, affective, and behavioural aspects in learning, supported by religious habituation practices and collaboration between the madrasah and families. However, this study is limited to a single madrasah in a specific geographic context, which may restrict the generalisability of the findings.
