Abstract

Indonesia is a maritime country with tropical forests that possess various natural resources utilized to fulfill needs in clothing, shelter, and medicine. Certain medicinal plants such as Ageratum conyzoides, Mussaenda frondosa, Curcuma longa, and Uncaria gambir have medicinal properties, including antibacterial effects for postpartum infections. The limited knowledge among the public regarding the benefits of traditional medicinal plants is due to restricted dissemination of information through digital media, among other factors.  Therefore, it is crucial that information about the clinical trials of herbal products containing a combination of Ageratum conyzoides, Mussaenda frondosa, Curcuma longa, and Uncaria gambir as postpartum antibacterials is conveyed to the younger generation, especially millennials, and those unfamiliar with the diversity of plants. A non-parametric research design method was employed, testing the pharmacological effects of the herbal product formulation through preliminary data. Data collection involved obtaining responses from 50 participants who used the herbal product, including 15 with vaginal discharge, 10 postpartum individuals, 10 with dysmenorrhea, 5 with postpartum infections, 5 unmarried healthy individuals, and 5 married healthy individuals, using the Wilcoxon test. The research results indicate that the combined herbal formulation significantly affected the test groups with indicators such as vaginal discharge, postpartum without infection, postpartum with infection, dysmenorrhea, and married and healthy individuals, with a significance level of 0.01. These results suggest positive potential. Further analysis reveals that the group without infection complaints did not show a significant impact. In conclusion, the combination formulation demonstrates positive effectiveness in groups with specific complaints related to infection and reproductive disorders. However, the response to the formulation may vary depending on initial health conditions and the characteristics of the target group.

Abstract

Early marriage negatively impacts the physical and psychological well-being of children worldwide. Adolescents marry for various reasons influenced by peers, perceptions (cognitive, affective, conative), education, and reproductive health information. Teenagers often depend on peers to understand and foster important relationships. Therefore, peer educator initiatives are carried out to tackle early marriage. This investigation aimed to assess the impact of peer educators on the perceptions of female adolescents regarding early marriage at SMP Negeri 21 Tasikmalaya. This research employed a quantitative methodology, specifically the pre-experimental design characterized by a one-group pre-test post-test framework. The population encompassed all female students enrolled at SMP Negeri 21 Tasikmalaya, amounting to a total of 181 individuals. The purposive sampling technique was employed, yielding a sample size of 40 female students alongside 4 peer educators who had undergone training. The research instrument utilized was a questionnaire addressing adolescent perceptions of early marriage, evaluated through cognitive, affective, and conative aspects. The data collected for the research were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Test. The findings of this study reveal that following educational interventions by peer educators, all female adolescents demonstrate understanding, do not support, and possess positive conative aspects towards early marriage. The results of the statistical analysis indicated a p-value of 0.000. The conclusions drawn from this study indicate that peer educators significantly influence the perceptions of adolescent women regarding early marriage at SMP Negeri 21 Tasikmalaya.

Abstract

Health vocational students are generally in the late adolescent phase, aged 17-21 years, which implicitly acts as a role model for healthy individuals. Quality of life in adolescents is influenced by various factors including physical health, psychological health, self-perception, parental relationships, finance, environment, and social relationships. Striving for a quality life for the younger generation as the nation's hope is essential and determines the reproduction process of the next quality generation. Indonesia has a triple burden of nutritional problems namely stunting, wasting, and obesity as well as micronutrient deficiencies such as anemia. Body Mass Index (BMI) is one indicator of nutritional status that can be assessed in adolescents. The prevalence of adolescent physical activity from year to year tends to decrease. This study aims to explain the relationship of BMI and physical activity with physical fitness and quality of life of Health Vocational Students at Bengkulu University. Methods: This study is a quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach, the subjects were health vocational students of Bengkulu University. The results showed no correlation between BMI and fitness and quality of life (p > 0.05), there was a weak correlation between physical activity with cardiovascular fitness (p= 0.028, r = -0.161), and quality of life of UNIB health vocational students (p = 0.043 and r = 0.148). There is a very strong correlation between fitness and quality of life (p = 0.000, r = -0.926).

Abstract

Adhering to medication in chronic diseases like hypertension and diabetes mellitus can prevent complications and reduce hospitalizations. Primary Health Center (PHC), leads in managing patients with chronic diseases who are expected to comply with medication. This study aims to analyze the medication adherence level among patients with chronic diseases and its influencing factors. The research employed a cross-sectional design with a purposive sampling technique at a PHC in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta. Data on the demographic and clinical characteristics of patients were collected from medical records. Meanwhile, the assessment of medication adherence used pill-count method and MMAS-8. Patients were categorized as adhering to the medication if the MMAS-8 score was 8 and ≥80% for the pill-count method. A total of 210 patients with the therapeutic dosage drug regimen for controlling chronic disease were included. The adherence rate among patients measured with MMAS-8 was primarily classified as low (72.86%). However, the pill-count method showed a compliance rate of over 90%. Based on MMAS-8, disease duration (0.022), caretaker (0.000), comorbidities (0.015), and number of medications (0.049) affected the adherence level in the elderly. However, only a gender was found in adults (0.032). Over half of chronically ill patients in PHC were found to have low adherence rates when assessed using MMAS-8. The contradictory medication adherence levels between the two tools require further studies to confirm the best approach in measuring adherence in the community setting. An effective, interactive, and collaborative approach by healthcare providers is needed to improve medication adherence.

Abstract

The nutritional status of children is currently a global concern, with two million children under the age of five suffering from severe acute malnutrition, a lifethreatening condition if left untreated. Millions of Indonesian children remain at risk due to high rates of stunting and wasting, as well as the double burden of malnutrition, where both undernutrition and overnutrition occur. Globally in 2020 (WHO), 149.2 million children under the age of five (22%) were stunted, 45.4 million children (6.7%) were wasted, and 38.9 million children (5.7%) were overweight. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between complementary feeding practices and parenting patterns with the nutritional status of children aged 6– 24 months in the Pegambiran Health Center working area in Padang City. Study method is a quantitative research method with a cross-sectional study design. The results of the statistical analysis in this study using the chi- square test showed a significant association between complementary feeding practices and the nutritional status of children aged 6– 24 months (p- value = 0.000) and between parenting styles and the nutritional status of children aged 6– 24 months (p- value = 0.000). The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between the practice of providing complementary foods and the nutritional status of children aged 6– 24 months.
