Abstract

Abstrac A kiai (muslim cholar) leadership must be intensively observed, since it describes the patron of its connection with the community. The power of kiai's leadership has been centralistic in nature. The authority and the power of kiai in society include both social and political relationship. In terms of factual-empirical phenomena, this assumption matches the facts that show that all the political parties competing in general election use kiai to be vote getters. It influences politic attitude of loyal grass roots. However, in certain situation, the influence of kiai becomes meaningless due to the diverged authority of kiai. Abstract

Indonesia is a multicultural country. It consists of many different races, religion, and ethnicities.  That is why the tolerance attitude is important to minimize the intolerance cases which seem to raise lately. Tolerance is an attitude to let anyone to be different and to appreciate the diversity as recognition of human right. Teachers play a strategic role in implementing values of tolerance, by placing diversity within the frame of brotherhood and humanity based. This study uses an ex-post-facto approach. The research instruments used are questionnaires that meet the validity and reliability. It is analyzed using the Pearson correlation test. The finding of this study shows that family edification, mutualism, and kinship have strong correlation with the tolerance attitude of the early childhood teachers in Tana Toraja. Kinship gives the highest contribution to the tolerance attitude of the early childhood teachers in Tana Toraja.  It is in line with the characteristic of Toraja’s community who appreciate kinship above all the existing diversities, including the diversity in religion and belief. The kinship in Toraja’s community is bound by Tongkonan which philosophically has a strong sense of brotherhood among extended families (clans), and keeps all the existing diversities aside

Abstract

This has been determined by the ecological structure of a certain region as well. The later factor contributes the enrichment of agriculture production level. Unlike Java island that is dominated by sawah (watery field) farming system, Madura island is covered mostly by tegalan (dry filed). Having such kind of field, Madurese do a series of research and investigation. The result is that they are able to obtain a local knowledge. This is about how to manage local natural resources that sets up an cherished and equal relationship between environment and those people. It can avoid a massive exploitation. Local knowledge is a form of environment wisdom that has been traditionally maintained and inherited from generation to generation. In running the nature, Madurese cultivates a number of plant varieties. They include subsystem plants---rice and corn, and commercial plant such as tobacco. However, not all rice varieties can be planted in tegalan.  Madurese hold safety-first principle meaning they plants a certain rice variety just to complete the family needsKata-kata kuncilocal knowledge, ekologi tegal, pembuatan keputusan, jagung, padi, tembakau,  subsistensi
