Abstract

This research begins with the phenomenon of farmers in North Central Timor Regency who apply local wisdom in corn farming ritual activities as a belief inherited from their ancestors who believe they have the power to rely on natural spirits as guardians of the nature where they live, including in guarding the corn farming that is being carried out. This research aims to determine the description of the local wisdom model of rituals held by farmers in corn farming. Sampling was carried out among corn farmers using the technique: first, determining key informants using Snowball Sampling as many as 7 people. Second, the determination of informants was carried out purposively, aimed at 10 figures related to corn farming, so the total number of respondents was 17 people. Primary data was collected using a questionnaire guide, in-depth interviews (FGD) and secondary data was obtained from the Agriculture Service, BPS and related agencies. The results of the analysis show that the local wisdom model for changing farmer behavior has not worked optimally. And farmers in general are aware that the rituals of corn farming activities are carried out in accordance with their beliefs and beliefs and have been carried out for generations taking into account the farming cycle they have and greatly influence changes in farmers' behavior in corn farming. Harmonious farmer relations in carrying out corn farming rituals are currently being carried out but in certain parts it has not yet gone as expected, namely the Tapoen Fini ritual (Removing Seeds), Pen Sufa' (Time for Corn to Flower), Tah Fe'u (new food), T 'sek Pena (Breaking Corn), Takbu' Pena (harvesting corn), Tsef Pena smanaf (Opening the Spirit of Corn), T'hab nin (preparation for storage), Ta sae be noe Lopo (putting into Lopo).

Abstract

The agricultural sector is one of the supporting sectors of the Indonesian economy during the Covid-19 pandemic. Horticulture is one of the agricultural sub-sectors that contributes significantly to the national economy. Biopharmaceutical plants are part of the horticulture sub-sector and are used as raw materials for health products. Ginger, turmeric, galangal, kencur, and temulawak are five biopharmaceutical plants of the rhizome group that can be used as herbal medicines to anticipate some symptoms of Covid-19. One of the cultivators of these five biopharmaceutical plants is Taman Sringganis. The problem faced is that the cultivation of medicinal plants in the rhizome group is not optimal due to the many types of medicinal plants being cultivated. The financial feasibility of cultivation must be known To optimize the cultivation of rhizome plants. This research was conducted to determine the feasibility of cultivating medicinal plants in the rhizome group. As a result, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the cultivation of Taman Sringganis rhizomes was still feasible. Based on the calculation results of the four investment feasibility criteria, it is known that the Net Present Value (NPV) is positive or more than equal to zero, namely Rp. 258,213,256, the Net Benefit Cost Ratio (Net B/C Ratio) is more than one, namely 1.79, the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) is more than the predetermined social interest rate (10.1%), namely 36% and Payback Period (PP) is faster than the business age (5 years) which is 3 years 4 months. Rhizome, medicinal plant cultivation, supports the 8th SDGs.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to examine the differences in the amount of labor costs, farm costs and income of paddy fields with Combine Harvester and Power Thresher harvesting technology in Lamedai Village, Tanggetada District, Kolaka Regency. The method of taking the number of samples by proportionate Stratified Random Sampling method and for the determination of the type of sample by Simple Random Sampling method as many as 52 samples. Each farmer who did farming with Combine Harvester harvesting technology as many as 29 samples and Power Thresher as many as 23 samples. The method of data analysis used in this study is the analysis of different test model independent sampleT-test. The results showed that there was a significant difference in total farming costs and rice revenues with Combine Harvester and Power Thresher harvesting technology in Lamedai Village, Tanggetada District, Kolaka Regency. The results showed that there is a real difference in income received by farmers who use power trasher machine with combine harvester. However, both still provide benefits and deserve to continue their business because the value of RC and BC ratio is positive. The suggestion that can be recommended is that farmers can be more familiar with the combine harvester machine so that the productivity of rice land is higher which also affects the income received by farmers.

Abstract

The diffusion of innovation begins with the adoption of innovation to increase the productivity of corn farming so that a study of the innovation diffusion process is needed. The double track innovation is an innovation on how to grow corn which has been proven to be able to increase corn productivity by increasing the number of tillers in one hectare. This research was conducted from March to June 2023 with the objectives of 1) analyzing the main actors in spreading double track innovation among corn farmers participating in the TJPS program, 2) analyzing the relationship between socio-economic factors and the process of spreading double track innovation. The research location in Manusak Village, East Kupang District, Kupang Regency was chosen deliberately because it is the first and widest location for implementing the 'double track' innovation in the CSR program. The survey method was used in collecting data on 83 respondents. To answer the first objective, the data were analyzed using the analysis of the structure of the communication network with the sociogram approach, and the second objective was analyzed using the Spearman Rank Correlation Test (rs). The research results are: 1). As the main actor in the diffusion of double track innovation in corn cultivation in the TJPS program, the farmer with the first serial number, Mr. Foris, became a source of information for 24 farmers with a percentage of 29%. 2). Socio-economic factors that have a real relationship with the flow of innovation diffusion are the age of the farmer, the education of the farmer and the dependents of the farmer's family, on the other hand the area of land has no real relationship. The implication of this research is that in increasing the diffusion of innovations in farming communities it is hoped that they will utilize local-level change agents or key actors so that innovation spreads to all farmers, increase the role of millennials in the process of adoption and diffusion of innovations and apply effective agricultural extension models.
