Abstract

This study aims to determine the poverty problems of Banjarasri society in Kalibawang, Kulonprogro, the Special Territory of  Yogyakarta in sociolog y and psychological perspective. The study tries to map out the main problems of the poverty and to look for alternatives solution of  the problem. Implementing grounded research and integrative review on the role of  religions in society, the study proves that religions are even able to help in solving the problem of poverty. The study then concluded that religious institutions have important roles in overcoming poverty problem through various economic, social and educational programs.

Abstract

This article tries to see a phenomenon called Echo Chambers through the perspective of Stella Ting-Toomey’s Intercultural Communication Theory. This study shows that the development of social media was also followed by the shadow of Echo Chambers. The tendency to isolate oneself and associate with those who understand one another will create separate spaces between one religion and another. As a result, communication which is an effort to eliminate the polarization of the differences between "Us" and "The Others" is precisely the way to form an exclusivism in cyberspace. Among the efforts to anticipate the emergence of a gap is to create melting-pot spaces in the real world. Counter narrative also needs to be built to open these exclusive barriers. Muslim scholars sought to introduce the importance of communication in achieving the harmony in community. Some Ulama have also explained the role and function of communication in achieving the goals of the ummah, as well as trying to provide an Islamic perspective regarding communication behavior. More important, is to create a person who is a wise, open user of social media and uses epoche in looking at the world outside.

Abstract

Adapun judul tulisan ini adalah Orientasi Agama para Samanera dan Atthasilani di Vihara Dhammadipa Arama, Mojorejo, Kota Batu, Malang, Jawa Timur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti motif yang mendorong dan tahapan menjadi Samanera, Atthasilani melalui pendekatan psikologi agama menggunakan metode analisis Gordon W. Allport tentang orientasi intrinsik, ekstrinsik dan teori pendukung yaitu motivasi menjadi Samanera dan Atthasilani dalam pandangan agama Buddha serta Lawrence Kohlberg tentang tahapan perkembangan moral.Jenis penelitian penulis menggunakan metode kualitatif yaitu penelitian lapangan. Untuk metode pengumpulan data penulis yaitu observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Dari segi pengumpulan data, penulis melakukan observasi dengan mengamati gejala yang ada dalam objek penelitian serta wawancara dengan Bhikkhu Khanthidaro selaku Kepala Vihara Dhammadipa Arama, Bhikkhu Santacito, Samanera, Atthasilani, dan dokumentasi berupa buku-buku yang terkait dengan penelitian. Sedangkan pengolahan data penulis menggunakan analisis data yaitu dengan metode deskriptif.Data yang dianalisis adalah orientasi agama bagi Samanera dan Atthasilani. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dua hal. Pertama, motif yang mendorong menjadi Samanera dan Atthasilani yaitu berasal dari kesadaran diri dan didorong dari keluarga, saudara, Guru, teman yang membuat semakin yakin menjalani kehidupan Samanera serta Atthasilani. Kedua, tahapan menjadi Samanera dan Atthasilani melalui tes yang diuji Bhikkhu dengan menghafal beberapa sila, lalu ditahbis menjadi Samanera dan Atthasilani dengan melalui prosesi cukur rambut dan pemakaian jubah. Pada saat menjalani kehidupan Samanera dan Atthasilani diberi penilaian dalam menerapkan 10 sila bagi Samanera ditambah 75 latihan tambahan dan 8 sila bagi Atthasilani untuk konsisten sampai lulus ke jenjang Bhikkhu maupun Atthasilani tetap.Kata kunci: Orientasi, agama, Samanera, Atthasilani.

Abstract

Agama Khonghucu di Indonesia senantiasa mengalami perubahan. Pengakuan negara sesuai dengan penetapan presiden no. 1 tahun 1965 dan Undang-Undang Dasar tahun 1945 pasal 29 ayat 2, agama Khonghucu merupakan salah satu agama yang diakui dari lima agama. Sedang pada pemerintahan Suharto, agama Khonghucu masuk pada aliran kepercayaan dan kebatinan. Pada pemerintahan Gus Dur kembali diangkat dan digugat untuk diakui sebagai kelompok agama yang lima tersebut. Sehingga sewajarnyalah agama tersebut mendapat perhatian dari masyarakat yang berketuhanan Yang Maha Esa pada umumnya dan Fakultas Ushuluddin pada khususnya. Perhatian yang dimaksudkan di sini ialah adanya pengetahuan tentang agama Khonghucu dan sejauh mana ajaran Ketuhanan Yang Maha Esa diterapkan dalam agama tersebut.

Abstract

Muhammad Iqbal’s Javid Nama follows Ibn Arabi, Marri and Dante. Iqbal depictshimself as Zind Rud (a stream, full of life) guided by Rumi the master, throughvarious heavens and spheres and has the honour of approaching Divinity and comingin contact with divine illuminations. Several problems of life are discussed and answersare provided. It is an exceedingly enlivening study. Iqbal stated that Hallaj has innerreligious involvement and becomes one of few people having Divine experience.

Abstract

Pagebluk or epidemic that we are currently experiencing, namely the corona virus that entered Indonesia since March 2020 has claimed more than 28.233 case of the Indonesian population and has claimed the work of both workers and employees due to Termination of Employment (PHK) due to stalled economic flows both local and global, but it does not stop here because the numbers continue to soar. Not only that a variety of significant implications occur in terms of religion and culture. This paper discusses the role of religion in the community of Ploso village in Ngawi district response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the substance that makes it form and changing occur in society.

Abstract

Aluk To Dolo merupakan agama asli Suku Toraja yang sejak tahun 1969 mendapatkan status sebagai cabang dari agama Hindu Dharma. Di antara praktik agama Aluk To Dolo yang masih bertahan sampai sekarang adalah upacara kematian “Rambu Solok” dan disebut-sebut sebagai ritual kematian termahal. Orang yang merayakan ritual ini rela menghabiskan ratusan juta bahkan milyaran rupiah. Orang Toraja percaya bahwa ketika seorang mati dan belum diupacarakan Rambu Solok, ia sedang sakit dan diperlakukan layaknya orang hidup seperti disajikan makan dan minum, dan diajak bicara sewaktu-waktu. Orang mati ini baru dimakamkan di batu atau tebing setelah diupacarakan Rambu Solok dengan melakukan korban hewan kerbau dan babi sebanyak mungkin sehingga biayanya sangat mahal sekali. Hal itu berkaitan dengan konsep bekal di alam roh yang bernama “puya”. Semakin banyak “korban”, semakin banyak dan terjamin kehidupannya di “puya”. Puya dipercaya sama persis dengan dunia ini, hanya ia bersifat abadi atau kekal, karenanya diperlukan kebutuhan-kebutuhan hidup seperti di dunia ini. Semua bekal di “puya” ini ditentukan oleh sedikit banyak hewan yang dikorbankan dalam ritual kematian Rambu Solok. Oleh karena itu, masyarakat Toraja yang percaya filosofi Rambu Solok dalam agama Aluk To Dolo ini berusaha sebanyak mungkin mengorbankan hewan-hewan, agar sang jenazah cukup membawa bekal untuk hidup di alam baru “puya”.

Abstract

Religious plurality is a reality that cannot be denied or even elimi- nated. This fact leads to a logical consequence of the religious life, namely to coexist in the diversity of  beliefs. This has happened in RW 02, Kampung Miliran, Yog yakarta. The people in this place live peacefully and in harmony with one another despite their different in religious affiliation. Departing from this reality, two questions arise: what is the basis of  inter-religious har mony in RW 02, Kampung Miliran, and how this religious harmony is maintained in such a plu- ral society. The data for this study is collected by means of observa- tion, interview, and documentation.  The materials are then analyzed using structural-functional theory of Talcott Parsons known with the ter m AGIL: Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration, and Latent Pat- ter n Maintenance.The study suggests that religion plays a pivotal role as it teaches foun- dation of  mutual love and respect between religious communities. Hence the prevailing norms in Javanese society such as ethics, the principle of harmonious and respectful may be upheld. This research also portrays the application of religious teachings and the basic rules of society in everyday life. The application may be viewed in the people practice of Agustusan and Syawalan together (adaptation) as well as their subservience to the leaders of different religions in or- der to achieve a common goal (goal Attainment). With the assimilation of one another, the public then can minimize conflicts between faiths (integration). Although they disperse in such a melting pot, each still maintain (latent pattern maintenance) their religious principles and cul- tural nor ms.

Abstract

Fenomena kemasyarakatan merupakan fenomena yang tua, setua budaya masyarakat itu sendiri. Oleh karena itu, kajian terhadap hal tersebut merupakan tema yang menarik karena melibatkan variasi-variasi budaya yang sangat kompleks dan beragam. Keragaman budaya itu tidak lekang dari masuknya nilai-nilai yang secara intens menstimulsi munculnya budaya baru. Dengan melihat secara dekat pemikiran tokoh ilmu social dalam sejarah budaya masyarakat Islam, tulisan berikut ini ingin menampilkan sosok Ibnu Khardun dalam kapasitasnya sebagai ilmuwan sosial dalam meneropong fenomena kemasyarakatan amannya untuk kepentingan zaman sekarang.

Abstract

Study of religion and territory (space) is a new phenomenon in recent dec­ades along with the tendency of religious studies that change from normative to con­tex­tual approach. Plosokuning village as a religious area becomes research ob­ject that examines the relationship between religion and space. Furthermore, this re­search will explore how this religious region is formed and how it affects the beha­vior of the people in this village.This study uses a social theory known as the production of space proposed by Henri Lefebvre. In this theory, space is a social production, and always related to the social reality that surrounds it. Space never existed and manifested itself or held itself. In other words space has a historical dimension that helped shape it. The social space also influences the way of thinking and acting of society that exists in the space, as well as uses as control and domination.From the historical approach, it is found that the religious area of Plosokun­ing is a product of the palace (kraton Yogyakarta) that makes Plosokuning as a mutihan area (place of worship). This religious area is intended as a bastion of the spirituality of the palace and the implementation of the royal philosophy known as Kiblat Papat Lima Pancer. In this philosophy, the palace is in the middle and sur­rounded by a spiritual fortress in the form of four Pathok Negara Mosques, one of which is the Pathok Negara Mosque in Plosokuning.The religious area of Plosokuning, which is a palace product, has an influ­ence on the Islamic religiosity of the Plosokuning community. This religious beha­vior can be proved by the emergence of cultural products, both tangible and intangi­ble cultures. Tangible cultures are like the emergence of some boarding schools (pesantren), some musholla (small mosques), Muslim housing, and majelis ta'lim (place for Islamic studies). While intangible culture such as the emergence of Is­lamic art, religious rituals, as well as Islamic religious norms in society. Plosokun­ing as religious area continues to be inherited from generation to generation by continu­ing to revive the Islamic culture, both tangible and intangible culture.The study of the Plosokuning community also shows a strong relation be­tween religious space and the behavior of the people. By the existing of the reli­gious area,  so the sacred character of religion becomes strong in the environment of Pathok Negara Mosque Plosokuning. As a sacred area, it becomes a shame (ta­boo) when people conduct behavior or actions that violate Islamic norms and tradi­tions. The social function of this religion is also reinforced by giving social sanc­tions for people who violate the teachings of Islam. Keywords: Islam, production of space, sacred, Yogyakarta.
