Abstract

Perdebatan  tentang  otonomi  perempuan  dalam  keluarga  dikaitkan dengan wacana keagamaan,  menarik untuk  dikaji.  Mengingat  di  satu  sisi,  teks-teks  agama  menegaskan  otonomi perempuan  meraih  sakinah,  mawaddah dan  rahmah  dalam  lembaga  pernikahan.  Namun  di  sisi  lain, banyak nash mengindikasikan  nihilitas  otonomi  perempuan  dalam ranah  tersebur, karena aktivitas perempuan  senantiasa  terkait  dan  terikat  dengan  izin  sang  suami. Secara  spesifik,  artikel  ini  akan  mengupas  bagaimana  men-dialog-kan kontroversi antar  teks  agama  dalam  otonomi  perempuan  dalam  keluarga.

Abstract

Relasi gender merupakan isu klasik yang tetap dikaji dalam studi-studi ilmiah. Sebagai isu sentral dalam relasi antara laki-laki dan perempuan, studi gender senantiasa menghasilkan beragam interpretasi dari berbagai latar belang kajiannya. Pemikiran Amina Wadud, sebagai seorang pionir studi gender dalam dunia Islam, juga sangat relevan di dalam diskursus gender. Menurut Wadud relasi laki-laki dan perempuan tidak dilihat sebagai relasi hirarkis-struktural tetapi lebih pada relasi fungsional. Dengan pendekatan ini, artikel berikut akan mengeksplorasi pemikiran Amina Wadud tentang “bagaimana seharusnya” relasi laki-laki dan perempuan berdasarkan nash-nash al-Qur’an sebagai dasar pijak kehidupan umat Islam.

Abstract

In the mainstream Christianity, revelation of God manifests in Jesus Christ, in his blood and flesh. Jehovah's Witnesses, as a sect in Christianity, believes that the revelation or word of God is fully Bible, and not Jesus as in the mainstream Christianity. Bible is revealed by God directly so it is accurate. It is also belived as The Book of God's Thought because was written in His guidance. This concept of revelation has serious implications to the dogma of the Trinity. Based on Bible, Jehovah's Witnesses believes that God is not the Trinity, but God is One God and One Person named Jehovah. Jesus also is not part of the Trinity. Indeed Jesus is believed as God's word, but as a speaker of God. He is also believed as the son, as God fiirst creation. by God. Therefore, Jesus is a creature of Jehovah and is not God, so is not part of the Trinity.

Abstract

Buku karya Niels Mulder memaparkan tentang berbagai sisi kesamaan antara masyarakat Thai, Jawa (Indonesia), dan Filipina; dalam hal kehidupan agama dan perubahan budaya serta gaya hidup. Secara umum, buku ini memang tidak dapat memberikan gambaran yang detail mengenai persamaan-persamaan pola budaya ketiga negeri yang saling bertentangga itu. Sebab identifikasi terhadap berbagai persamaan budaya itu, hanya dilakukan secara global, pada dataran permukaan. Kesan global yang tercermin dalam uraian Mulder itu antara lain diakibatkan oleh cara penggalian informasi yang hanya dilakukan dengan diskusi dan wawancara terhadap orang-orang pada tataran masyarakat tingkat atas (dosen/intelektual, wartawan, tokoh politik). Meski nampak sangat umum, bukan berarti buku ini tidak memberikan gambaran yang aktual dan absah terhadap kesamaan-kesamaan budaya masyarakat Jawa, Thailand, dan Filipina. Beberapa uraian tentang kesamaan-kesamaan nilai dan tatanan, serta pemahaman terhadap kehidupan di antara orang Thailand, Jawa, dan Filipina dapat dijadikan pemahaman awal bagi mereka yang hendak mengkaji lebih lanjut perihal kebudayaan masyarakat Asia Tenggara.

Abstract

The Tingkeban tradition serves as one of important rituals besides the wedding and thefuneral. The fact indicates the reverse phenomenon of the splitting tendency among theadherents of Muhammadiyah and NU in that the ritual bears as the social sphere ofthe people. In this regard, it is important to fi rstly understand how the Muhammadiyahand the NU adherents gave their response to the Tingkeban and its functionality. Thisresearch uses Talcott Parsons’ Structural Functionalism that covered four premises ofAGIL that includes adaptation (A), goal attainment (G), integration(I) and lattenpattern maintenance (L). This fi eld research includes data collecting by observation,documentation and interviews to the community leaders as well as covers a participantobservation using a qualitative approach on a descriptive-analytical data.The study shows that fi rst, people consider the Tingkeban as Hindhu tradition and itis a kind of novelty in Islam. In the Muhammadiyah’s view among Karangrejo people,there is an exception between the Tingkeban and some other local tradition. Both aretruth, in their views, with a little difference in the Tingkeban practice in Karangrejo.Secondly, the function of Tingkeban as action system can be describes as follows. (A)Adaptation deals with slametan, landang/rewang and social invitation, (G) GoalAttainment covers the ideal of rukun, harmonis, dan selamat, (I) integration dealswith the making of Procot cake as Tingkeban symbol and (L) latency refers to theGrace to God. The function of Tingkeban is an effort to accomplish the harmony andbalance in a ‘society’ system. This signifi es the Tingkeban signifi cance as the Dawaregulation in Karangrejo Karanggeneng Lamongan.

Abstract

Each religion obliges its followers to do philanthropy deed. Zakat is one of philanthropy tenets in Islam. In Islam, zakat is believed to be one of the vital instruments in an effort to eradicate poverty, decrease unemployment rate, and improve the life quality of society. As Muslim majority country, Indonesia rightly need to optimize the zakat philanthropy program through stimulating people's inclination to become loyal zakat philanthropist or Muzakki in one of the Zakat collection agencies in Indonesia. This research, therefore, is aiming at analyzing the influence of promotion on forming people's interest in becoming Muzakki in one of the Zakat agencies in Ambon, Maluku province. The quest was particularly conducted in YAKESMA Zakat Agency in Ambon. The data collection processes were literary study, interview, and questionnaire allotment regarding the research. As for the data analyzing, the simple linear regression analysis was used with variables consisting of promotion scale and people's proclivity of 25 out of 154 respondents. The outcome of the research indicated that the promotion scale has a significant improvement of people's proclivity to become Muzakki or zakat philanthropist in YAKESMA Zakat agency in Ambon. The promotion effort contributed 78.9 percent in forming Ambonese’s proclivity to become loyal zakat philanthropist (Muzakki) in YAKESMA Zakat agency in Ambon.

Abstract

Radicalism is a complex problem. By that, a holistic approach is needed to overcome this issue. Every element of society and the state are morally responsible to support the process of deradicalization and strengthening the spirit of togetherness as a nation. This paper tries to explain how Religious Studies can be a study program that is expected to be able to support and  actively involved in preventing young people engage with radicalism. All this time, radicalism has been understood to arise because of exclusives religious attitudes. On the contrary, religious studies is a place that leads students to get out of the trap of religious exclusivity. Religious Studies is an incubator where  the spirit of religious inclusiveness is built. The attempts to counter radicalism can be one of the works for religious studies majors, especially the Religious Studies of Alauddin State Islamic University, Makassar. The religious study program must be at the forefront of campaigning religious inclusivity, anti-religious radicalism and also initiating a spirit of tolerance between religions.

Abstract

Peaceful Competition, a ter m introduced by Arnold Toynbee, aims to express various ways of religious practices. This concept occurs when an a priori religious consciousness meets the historical aspects of reli- gion. In such situations, people feel in the level of ‘between’ which consists of (1) a priori religious reflections of consciousness; and (2) religious practices within the context of cultural and social sphere. Both elements will be realized in the non-essential activities such as creeds, rules and worship.This article uses the above concept and analyzes both the results of interviews and observations on three interfaith marriage couples. The study concludes that there is no single model of peaceful competition in the practices of interfaith marriage. Conditions of threshold between a priori historical and religious part is related to the ‘sense of  self ’ and ‘entities of other’. Thus, peaceful competition in the interfaith family might be considered as a tolerable stage within the couple relationship.

Abstract

Bagi raja-raja Jawa dan pendukung Sastra BudayaJawa, kedudukan dan kekuasaan politik adalah nomor satu dan segalanya, sedang agama adalah nomor dua. Bahkan agama apa saja tidak masalah asal bisa dimanfaatkan untuk memperkokoh kedudukan dan kekuasaan mereka. Dinasti Mataram sebagai dinasti orang kebanyakan (dinasti petani), yang berkat perjuangannya keluarga ini berhasil mengubah starusnya menjadi keluarga raja atau dinasti. Karena keluarga dinasti Mataram berasal dari keluarga petani, maka wajar kalau dinasti ini menghadapi ancaman pergeseran, di sisi yang lain umat Islam yang sejak akhir kerajaan Majapahit telah merupakan kekuatan yang nyata. Sehingga untuk retap mengukuhkan kedudukannya Dinasti Mataram harus melakukan konsolidasi atas edudukannya. Di antaranya dengan menggunakan agama [Islam] sebagai alat untuk melegitimasi kekuasaannya.

Abstract

Radicalism and extremism conducted at recent time by young people have reduced a quality of democratic life in Indonesia. In fact, democracy requires similar human-rihgts dan freedom from threat and coercion, moreover in religious freedom. The involvement of young people in extremist conduct can be seen further from text-book of Pendidikan Agama Islam/PAI (Education of Islamic Religion/EIR) which is used in senior high school. The goal of this research is to describe definitions of toleration, harmony, and discrimination that are explained in EIR books, and is to explore theological bases used by the books, and how those topics are interpreted. This writing uses qualitative method by an approach of content-analysis towards the books. The definition of toleration, harmony and discrimination used in those books just emphasizes the relations of inter-religions and inter-cultures. No explicite explanation deals with the importance to build toleration and harmony of intra-religion which recently gains huge attention in Indonesians for this makes conflict. The Qur’ânic verses becoming theological basis are quoted and interpreted textually. Meanwhile, stories of conduct and model are focused on classical era, in which there is no story, conduct, model or example from cases taken from Indonesian contexts.
