Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the performance of University X using a Balanced Scorecard (BSC) framework adapted to the context of higher education in Indonesia, such as measurements covering service inclusiveness, locally-based academic innovation, and university funding sustainability. A total of 230 participants were selected, consisting of 99 educators, 44 administrative staff, and 87 students. Data were collected through questionnaires, documentation, and literature studies with random sampling techniques to obtain respondents. The study used quantitative methods, analyzing both financial and non-financial metrics. The results of data analysis show the following performance results: (1) The financial perspective shows consistent improvement, with financial performance rated as economical, highly effective, and increasingly efficient throughout 2021 to 2023. (2) The customer perspective shows a high level of satisfaction in all dimensions, with powerful results in the reliability and assurance dimensions. (3) The internal business process perspective reflects good operational efficiency, and (4) the learning and growth perspective shows excellent results in capacity building and institutional development. This research provides a comprehensive assessment of the performance of University X, as well as offers insights for future strategic improvements in higher education institutions.

Abstract

Leadership literacy is a fundamental element in developing excellent human resources (HR) within Islamic preaching institutions, especially in the era of disruption characterized by rapid social, technological, and communication changes. This study employs a literature review method by analyzing books, reputable international journals, and academic documents to understand how leadership literacy is a key strategy in enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of HR management in Islamic preaching institutions. The findings indicate that leaders with strong leadership literacy can manage organizations adaptively, utilize technology in preaching, and establish sustainable leadership regeneration systems. Moreover, leadership literacy contributes to fostering an innovative organizational culture, strengthening collaborative networks, and improving leadership succession in response to global challenges. Thus, this study emphasizes that revitalizing leadership literacy is crucial for developing excellent human resources within Islamic preaching institutions and ensuring their relevance in the modern era.

Abstract

Da’wah Management program is designed to cultivate graduates who are proficient in managing religious institutions and contributing to various faith-based sectors. However, there remains a degree of uncertainty regarding the alignment between the program's academic focus and the career opportunities available in the job market. This study aims to explore alumni perceptions concerning the relevance of their education and the career prospects associated with a degree in Da’wah Management. Employing a qualitative approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with alumni from different graduating cohorts. The findings indicate that while some alumni consider their academic background relevant to their current roles, many encounter challenges in securing employment that aligns with their field of study. Among the key issues identified are limited job opportunities, a lack of public awareness and understanding of the discipline, and a curriculum that insufficiently addresses the development of digital competencies. Based on these insights, the study recommends fostering stronger partnerships between higher education institutions and relevant industries, enhancing the curriculum with practical, skill-based learning, and increasing outreach efforts to raise awareness of the professional pathways available to graduates of the Da’wah Management program.

Abstract

The Walisongo pillgrimage is a religious practice that holds significant potential as a contextual and transformative medium for Islamic preaching. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the dakwah bil hikmah concept ftom Yusuf al-Qaradhawi’s perspective within the routine pillgrimage activities conducted by the Majelis Taklim in Kertasari Village. This research employs a qualitative approach using the phenomenological method to explore the meaning and spiritual experiences of the participants. Data were collected through in depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that the pillgrimage serves as an educational and reflective preaching medium. The application of dakwah bil hikmah is reflected in the use of Walisongo’s historical narratives, gentle communication, spiritual dialogues, and the utilization of sacred spaces as non-verbal preaching media. Spiritual reflections during the pillgrimage strengthen both individual spirituality and community social solidarity. The study concludes that culturally based preaching forms an effective, adaptive, and sustainable model of dakwah bil hikmah.

Abstract

This study investigates the formation of trust within an Information Technology (IT)-based digital environment and its influence on beliefs, intentions, and behaviors related to academic publishing through University Intellectual Property Waqf Institutions (UIPWI) utilizing Open Access (OA) digital platforms. The research integrates and extends the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), Self-Determination Theory (SDT), Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and the Theory of Open Access in a quantitative survey design. The sample includes students from Airlangga University and various public and private universities across Indonesia. Data were collected online via WhatsApp group invitations using Google Forms and analyzed with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that technological, individual, and social trust determinants positively affect waqif trust in UIPWI operating on OA platforms. Moreover, religious beliefs strengthen the relationship between trust determinants and the intention to publish academic works through UIPWI via gold or green access schemes. This study provides strategic insights for universities planning to establish UIPWI and for stakeholders such as government agencies and the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI). It also contributes to expanding discourse on the role of credible digital environments in fostering academic publishing through Islamic philanthropic mechanisms. A limitation of this study lies in its relatively small sample size; thus, future research is encouraged to involve larger samples and broader institutional participation to enhance the global generalizability of the findings.

Abstract

Social change and rapid technological development require da'wah institutions to adapt to remain relevant and effective in spreading religious messages. This research aims to explore the relevance of transformational leadership and culture of innovation in da'wah institutions in the digital era. The method used is a qualitative approach with a literature study, which involves analyzing literature on transformational leadership and innovation in the context of da'wah. The results showed that transformational leadership plays an important role in inspiring and motivating members of da'wah institutions to adapt to changing times. Visionary and innovative leaders are able to create a dynamic ecosystem, directing da'wah institutions to utilize digital technology and social media in spreading religious messages to a wider audience, especially the younger generation. The culture of innovation implemented in da'wah institutions allows for the creation of creative solutions that respond to the challenges of the times, such as the use of da'wah applications or digital platforms to increase the reach and relevance of da'wah. However, the main challenges in implementing transformational leadership are resistance to change from conservative members and limited resources. Dawah leaders must have good communication skills to convince members that innovations remain grounded in religious principles. This study concludes that transformational leadership and a culture of innovation are essential to improving da'wah effectiveness in the digital era, despite the challenges that must be overcome through adaptive and creative approaches.

Abstract

The increasing complexity of global economic competition and the rapid transformation of the financial industry present significant challenges to the sustainability of Islamic financial institutions. These challenges are further amplified by the necessity to align financial performance with ethical, social, and environmental responsibilities as mandated by the principles of maqasid al-shariah. Despite the growing discourse on sustainable finance, limited studies have integrated the domains of strategic management, sustainability, and Shariah compliance into a unified conceptual framework tailored to the specific context of Islamic financial institutions. This study aims to analyze and synthesize the role of strategic management in advancing sustainability within Islamic financial institutions, offering a comprehensive perspective that bridges theoretical insights and practical applications. The research adopts a literature review method, systematically examining and synthesizing relevant academic works, policy documents, and best practices from global and regional contexts. The findings indicate that embedding sustainability principles into the core of strategic management not only enhances institutional competitiveness and resilience but also strengthens public trust, expands financial inclusion, and ensures long-term socio-economic contributions. Furthermore, the study reveals that an integrated approach combining visionary strategic planning, adherence to maqasid al-shariah, and proactive adaptation to technological and regulatory changes serves as a robust foundation for sustainable growth. It is concluded that sustainability should be institutionalized as a strategic imperative, supported by clear performance indicators, capacity-building programs, and technology-driven innovations. The study recommends that Islamic financial institutions engage in constructive collaboration with regulators, industry associations, and stakeholders to foster an enabling ecosystem for inclusive and sustainable development. This conceptual synthesis not only contributes to the academic discourse but also provides actionable insights for policymakers and practitioners seeking to reinforce the long-term viability of Islamic financial institutions in the evolving global financial landscape.
