Abstract

Background: Hearing is one of the five senses that plays an important role in early childhood development. With hearing, a child can learn to speak, socialize, and increase their intellectual development. Hearing impairment is a problem that can occur at any age and makes it difficult for someone to communicate verbally. Apart from this, hearing impairment can also result in delays in speech and language skills in children, which are also associated with difficulties in reading, writing, paying attention, and social interaction. Methods: The subjects of this research were children with hearing impairments. An experimental research design was used to determine the effect of certain treatments, with a one-group pre- and post-test design and a sample size of 30 people. bivariate test analysis with different tests to determine the effect of auditory perception training on improving the speaking ability of hearing-impaired children in Surakarta using the paired test technique. Results: The results of the analysis using the Wilcoxon rank test showed a statistical significance value of 0.000 (p ≤ 0.05), so there was a significant influence between auditory perception training and speaking ability in children with hearing impairment. Conclusion: The results of the study showed that the speaking ability of deaf children improved after auditory perception training was carried out. There is a significant effect of auditory perception training on the speaking ability of deaf children (p-value 0.000 < 0.05).

Abstract

Background: Cerebrovascular disease (ICD 10: I60–I69), is a medical condition that leads to limitations such as limited mobility and cognitive impairment. It is the most fatal disease in Indonesia. Medical rehabilitation has been clinically proven to be an effective strategy to minimize disability in stroke patients. Methods: This research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The data source was obtained from BPJS Kesehatan sample data for 2022. The sample units for this study were all patients with a diagnosis of cerebrovascular disease. This study examined 3,528 patients, representative of a larger population of 339,707 patients. Results: In 2022, healthcare costs for stroke patients in Indonesia, covered by BPJS Kesehatan, varied widely from Rp 1,937,400 to Rp 207,675,700, averaging Rp 8,487,531 per person. BPJS Kesehatan's total spending on stroke treatment and rehab in 2022 was Rp 2,883,269,825,972. The productive age group constitutes the majority of stroke cases, comprising 68.9% of the total, with males representing the predominant gender at 54.5%. The biggest group benefiting from this were those receiving Beneficiary Contribution Assistance (PBI), making up 46.5% of all National Health Insurance participants. Conclusion: This study indicates that providing medical rehabilitation during the golden period yields greater efficiency compared to its absence. This recommendation extends beyond cost-saving measures, emphasizing a strategic investment in national welfare through the enhancement of individuals' quality of life. Therefore, policymakers, BPJS Kesehatan, hospitals, and healthcare professionals are encouraged to factor this insight into their decision-making processes.

Abstract

Background: Underweight in children under five is still a significant health problem in many parts of the world, especially in developing countries. One such intervention that has gained cultural significance is infant massage, a traditional practice that promotes relaxation, improves digestion, and enhances weight gain. This study seeks to evaluate the impact of infant massage on weight gain in infants under 24 months within Banjar Regency, a region where undernutrition presents a significant public health issue. While infant massage is traditionally practiced and believed to benefit infant health, its effectiveness remains debatable. Methods: A quasi-experimental design with a control group involving 51 mother-infant pairs was employed. Participants were divided into an intervention group (n=17) that received infant massage training and performed it over three months and a control group (n=34) that received no such intervention. This research uses an observation form instrument. Infant weight gain was the primary outcome measure, with data analyzed using independent sample t-tests to assess differences between the two groups. Results: No statistically significant difference was found in weight gain between the intervention and control groups (t = -0.415, p = 0.680). However, descriptive data revealed that 88.2% of infants in the intervention group experienced weight gain compared to 85.3% in the control group, indicating a potential trend toward positive effects of infant massage. Conclusion: Despite the lack of statistical significance, the observed trend suggests potential benefits of infant massage. Further research with larger sample sizes and longer durations is recommended.
