Abstract

Communication between nurses and patients is one of the keys to the success of health services in hospitals. Patients who are treated in the ICU and using mechanical ventilators need to communicate with nurses and other health workers. However, they have difficulties in communication, which can have an impact on their satisfaction. To find out the relationship between communication of nurses and satisfaction of patients with ventilators in the ICU. This was a quantitative research with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used was consecutive sampling with forty three patient respondents who had been discharged from the ICU. The research used patient satisfaction and Nurse Quality of Communication with Patient (NQCPQ) questionnaires as the instruments. The data in this research was analyzed by using pearson correlation. According to the assessment, communication of nurse in the ICU was in the good category by 81.4%, while satisfaction of patient satisfaction with the nursing services in the ICU was in the satisfied category by 55.8%. In addition, based on the results of the Pearson analysis, p-value was 0.013 and (r) was 0.378. There was a positive relationship between communication of nurses and patients with mechanical ventilators in the ICU.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the factors influencing the interest in revisiting outpatients at Amelia Pare Hospital. Specifically, it analyzes the impact of service quality, facilities, and satisfaction on the interest in repeat visits, with satisfaction as an intervening variable. The research uses a quantitative approach, with a population of patients who revisited the hospital and a sample of 180 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using Smart-PLS 4.0. The findings indicate that service quality (X1) has a direct effect on the interest in revisiting outpatient services (Y), while facilities (X2) also directly influence the interest in repeat visits (Y). Additionally, service quality (X1) directly affects patient satisfaction (Z), and satisfaction (Z) has a direct impact on the interest in repeat visits (Y). Moreover, service quality (X1) indirectly influences the interest in repeat visits through satisfaction (Z), indicating partial mediation, and facilities (X2) also indirectly influence repeat visit interest through satisfaction (Z). Based on these results, it is recommended that Amelia Pare Hospital enhance its service quality to improve patient satisfaction and increase the likelihood of repeat visits.

Abstract

The Accurate medical documentation and diagnostic coding are essential components of healthcare services, directly influencing the quality of patient care, health data reporting, and hospital reimbursement systems. Therefore, this study aims to identify the relationship between the accuracy of medical terminology documentation and diagnosis code accuracy, providing insights for improvement in coding systems at hospitals. This study uses a quantitative, cross-sectional approach to examine the relationship between the accuracy of medical terminology documentation and diagnosis coding in Obstetric cases. The research was conducted in 2024 at RSIA Puri Malang. Data were collected from 300 medical records through simple random sampling. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the accuracy of documentation and coding, followed by a chi-square test to assess the correlation between medical terminology accuracy and diagnosis coding precision. The study shows a statistically significant relationship between the accuracy of medical terminology documentation and diagnosis coding accuracy in Obstetric cases, with a p-value of 0.048. Since the p-value is less than the significance level of 0.05, this indicates that the observed relationship is unlikely to be due to chance, supporting the hypothesis that accurate medical terminology documentation positively impacts the precision of diagnosis coding. The findings suggest that improving the quality of documentation can lead to more accurate coding, which is crucial for effective healthcare delivery, billing processes, and insurance claims.

Abstract

Hypertension remains a major public health challenge globally, with coastal communities facing unique vulnerabilities due to limited health infrastructure, low health literacy, and socio-economic constraints. This study aims to develop a community-based epidemiological management model for hypertension in coastal areas by analyzing the structural relationships among sociodemographic factors, risk behaviors, hypertension history, and healthcare access. Using a cross-sectional design, data were collected from 128 coastal residents in Puger Subdistrict, Jember, Indonesia. The study applied Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to explore causal pathways. The findings reveal that gender and education significantly influence risk behaviors, which in turn affect blood pressure grades and hypertension management. Despite a high prevalence of uncontrolled blood pressure, awareness and health-seeking behavior remain low. The structural model highlights the importance of behaviorally focused interventions targeting high-risk groups, particularly males and individuals with low education levels. The study underscores the need for community-based strategies that integrate risk-based management, health education, and culturally sensitive follow-up systems. This model offers a practical and contextual approach to strengthening hypertension control in underserved coastal populations

Abstract

Equal access to health services remains a challenge in achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), including in Indonesia. One of the efforts to improve access and the quality of services at Primary Health Care Facilities (PHCFs) is the implementation of the Performance-Based Capitation (PBC) system, which includes indicators such as the Contact Rate, Non-Specialist Referral Ratio, and Controlled Prolanis Participant Ratio. However, the achievement of these indicators has not yet been fully optimized. In 2022, national data showed that the Controlled Prolanis Participant Ratio indicator reached only 3.78% of the ≥5% target. Meanwhile, in the first semester of 2024, the average Contact Rate achievement at BPJS Kesehatan Semarang was only 149.14‰, slightly below the ≥150‰ target. Efforts to optimize PBC performance require in-depth analysis of the factors that influence it, including the characteristics of PHCFs. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the characteristics of PHCFs and PBC indicators. This research is a quantitative analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design, using PBC indicators data from the second semester of 2024 obtained from BPJS Kesehatan Semarang. The sample includes all PHCFs that are contracted partners and receive capitation payments from BPJS Kesehatan Semarang. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analysis with SPSS Statistics. PHCF characteristics that were significantly associated with PBC indicators (p < 0.05) included type of PHCF, ownership status, and number of registered participants

Abstract

Minister of Health Regulation No. 24 of 2022 mandates all healthcare facilities to implement electronic medical records. Digital nursing care at RSAU dr. M Salamun has not yet been optimally implemented due to a lack of knowledge, attitude, motivation, skills, and insufficient management support in the implementation of digital nursing care. This study aims to find out the Determinants that Affect the Implementation of Digital Nursing Care at RSAU dr. M Salamun. The research design used is quantitative research using analytical surveys and Cross Sectional approaches. The population and sample used in this study are all outpatient and inpatient nurses at RSAU dr. M Salamun which totals 160 nurses. The types of data in this study are primary and secondary data, the data collection tool used in this study is a questionnaire. The data analysis techniques used in this study are unvariate analysis, bivariate analysis and bivariate analysis. The study results indicate that knowledge has a significant effect on the implementation of digital nursing care (p-value 0.001), attitude has a significant effect on the determinants of the implementation of digital nursing care (p-value 0.000), while motivation, skills, and management support do not have a significant effect on the determinants of the implementation of digital nursing care. The test results show that collectively or simultaneously, the variables of knowledge, attitude, motivation, skills, and management support significantly influence the determinants of the implementation of digital nursing care. The attitude variable has the most dominant influence on the determinants of the implementation of digital nursing care at RSAU dr. M Salamun, with a p-value of 0.000. Based on these research findings, it is recommended that the hospital establish regulatory commitments and conduct socialization efforts for all nurses regarding the use of digital nursing care to raise awareness and create a positive attitude towards the use of digital nursing care technology that complies with accreditation standards.

Abstract

Stunting is still become a major public health that causes impaired physical and cognitive growth in children, thus having a long-term impact on productivity, quality of human resources, and the country's economic growth. Data from the 2023 Indonesian Toddler Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI) shows stunting prevalence in East Kalimantan Province, with 22.8% in 2021 and 23.9% in 2022. The study aims to obtain a prediction model of stunting in children 0-23 months in East Kalimantan Province. The study used SSGI 2022 as a data source, an observational study with a cross-sectional approach, and was analyzed using binary logistic regression. The study results showed that the binary model regression model had a classification accuracy of 83.2% and could explain 59.4% of the variation in the incidence of stunting in children aged 0-23 months. The findings indicate that Low Birth Weight (LBW) and maternal height significantly affect stunting in children 0-23 months. Therefore, special attention is needed for adolescents and pregnant women through nutritional education programs to grow to optimal height and for pregnant women to give birth to healthy babies.

Abstract

This study aims to compare and assess the efficiency of manual and digital payment methods used by hospital cashiers. The shift towards digitization in health service administration, has become more relevant due to the demand for faster, more accurate, and transparent transactions. This descriptive quantitative study used primary data on the average length of transactions as well as secondary data on the number of transactions per month at RSAU dr. M. Salamun Hospital in the months of March and April. In addition to a 40-second time saving compared to cash transactions, the results demonstrated that digital payments processed using QRIS have the potential to streamline services by reducing wait times, particulary during peak periods. QRIS usage increased during the two months under study, despite cash’s continued dominance. Full adoption is hampered, nevertheless, particularly in the pharmacy unit where there are issues with tax integration and insufficient corporate procedures. Both staff and younger patients reported that they favored digital methods since they were quick and easy, while elderly patients opted to stick with cash. The results of the study show that QRIS offers a more effective alternative. Nonetheless, wider implementation of QRIS requires technology integration and policy alignment. Future research should look at the effects of digital technologies on patient satisfaction and workflow optimization across various hospital departments.

Abstract

Leprosy is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae that primarily affects the peripheral nerves, skin, and other body tissues. This study aimed to examine the association between various risk factors and the incidence of leprosy. A case-control design was employed, comprising a case group of 15 multibacillary leprosy patients and a control group of 45 household members without leprosy. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate analyses, with the latter performed using the chi-square test. The findings revealed significant associations between leprosy incidence and several risk factors: age (P = 0.004, OR = 13.391; CI = 1.621–110.596), lack of knowledge (P = 0.042, OR = 4.75; CI = 0.957–23.572), duration of contact (P = 0.007, OR = 0.182; CI = 0.049–0.668), close contact (P = 0.007, OR = 0.182; CI = 0.049–0.668), and socioeconomic status (P = 0.021, OR = 5.688; CI = 1.149–28.163). These results highlight the necessity of enhancing educational and counseling initiatives for at-risk populations, particularly those residing near leprosy patients, while also encouraging individuals affected by leprosy to complete their treatment regimen.
