Abstract

Corn is a superior crop and its production centers are in the Grobogan and Pati Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia. This plant is partly cultivated in farm fields and forest land owned by Purwodadi Forest Control Area (in Indonesia known as 'Kawasan Penguasaan Hutan – KPH) as an intercrop during re-planting of tropical hardwood, namely teak. Corn has become one of the significant side hustles for most of the residents in KPH with high incomes. Unfortunately, this high corn production was not accompanied by adequate postharvest technology. Some vital problems occurred, especially during raining season, like fungi, undesired germination, and many more. Therefore, the weight loss of corn production is still very high. This activity aimed to assist farmers by changing how farmers look at the quality assurance of the produced corn products and improving farmers' postharvest corn practices. This activity's method was introducing corn harvesting machines, namely corn sheller machines, and improving the farmers’ knowledge about the quality control of corn. The activities were carried out to allocate five (5) units of corn sheller units to five Forest Village Community Institutions (in Indonesia known as 'Lembaga Masyarakat Desa Hutan,' LMDH) who were the targeted partners. The activities of sharing the knowledge regarding good postharvest for corn were going well and the participants gave excellent responses and actively participated.

Abstract

Adolescents who live at an orphanage may be at risk of mental disorders among adolescents. As adolescent orphans usually have bad memories, therapeutic groups are alternatives to overcome this issue. A civic engagement program was conducted to tackle development issues in adolescents as it performed a therapeutic approach with their peers. This program involved twenty-one female adolescents in Saint Beatrix orphanage Sidoarjo. They took a pre-test, which indicated a low level of knowledge about adolescent development. Group therapy was conducted in seven sessions, each of which took an hour. In the evaluation stage, questionnaires were distributed to test the adolescents’ knowledge about adolescent development. After conducting the therapeutic group therapy, it showed that adolescents’ knowledge about the development stages and their challenges improved. Based on the result of the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test, it's known that p-value = 0,000 with (ɑ<0.05), which means therapeutic group therapy may enhance knowledge about adolescent development stages to promote a healthy lifestyle in adolescents

Abstract

The pandemic situation experienced by the world are currently threatening food security in various regions including Indonesia. In these regions, the flow of traffic in the agricultural and fisheries sectors, from the means of production to the distribution of the harvest, is choked up due to social restrictions in various parts of the region. As a strategic step to reduce the impact on the agricultural sector, it is necessary to accelerate information to support the stability of production and also to distribute production results. Digital media in agriculture are needed to provide education with a variety of contents, such as technical production, marketing, and agricultural finance information. The Faculty of Agriculture of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has supported digital information dissemination through the Desa Apps application. Desa Apps aims to be an application platform that provides agricultural extension and develops digital farmer communities. The information that has been carried out by Desa Apps so far includes agrocomplex sector (agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries) problems related to cultivation methods and obstacles faced in the land such as attack by plant pest and disease. As a digital media, the Desa Apps has educated farmer and aquaculturists. Optimization needs to be done to improve the performance of Desa Apps as a digital media, one of which is the marketing system that this application actually has. This study evaluates whether farmers and aquaculturists under the auspices of the Faculty of Agriculture are interested in being able to get education and at the same time be able to market their product directly to consumers with one application, the Desa Apps. The findings of the study showed that the pandemic period greatly affected the incomes of the assisted target community, and they required media that can help market their product. The decline in turnover due to pandemic conditions reached 70% with an average decrease of 39.2%. The method of selling products has changed from conventional to online sales by 20% of the total respondents. Changes in sales methods occurred due to distribution limitations due to regional and activity restrictions during the pandemic. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the Desa Apps application as a digital media to support food security.

Abstract

Glagah Wangi Istambul Beach is one of the new natural tourist destinations in the Demak Regency, experiencing rapid development. This beach's management is carried out directly by Tambakbulusan Village people through the Village-Owned Enterprises (Badan Usaha Milik Desa, BUMDes). Community-based tourism adopts as a village development strategy to establish independence and improve community well-being. Promotion is an essential part of the development of a tourist attraction, including Glagah Wangi Istambul Beach. Advertising through social media has become a good strategy in the digital era because the internet has reached the villages nowadays. However, through social media, promotional efforts have not been carried out optimally by Glagah Wangi Istambul Beach's tourism manager. The COVID-19 pandemic situation led to the KKN PPM or Student Community Services-Community Empowerment UGM online, which was previously done by going into the field and interacting directly with residents. This condition creates limitations in determining what programs we can implement. The KKN PPM UGM JT 314 team (2020) focuses on solving the lack of efforts to promote tourism objects in Glagah Wangi Istambul Beach through branding destinations to take advantage of social media. Team did the data collection through observation, literature study, and online interviews. An online survey was also conducted in a google form questionnaire for visitors to evaluate the Sapta Pesona (Seven Enchantments) implementation. The activities carried out to promote the beach in this program are the procurement of some competitions such as creating creative photos, Tambakbulusan Village profiles infographics, health protocol guide during the pandemic, website management, and tourist promotion destinations through online media. The result of service activities shows increased public awareness of social media's importance to promote tourism objects.

Abstract

Assessment of rock mass quality was conducted to estimate the stability of Donan Cave. This research involved geological mapping, cave geometry mapping, rock mass quality zoning by scanline survey based on the Q-system rock mass classification, and cave stability estimation based on the rock mass quality, ratio of cave roof thickness to width, and load. The research results indicate that Donan Cave is composed of limestone of the Kalipucang Formation. Several faults are located in the vicinity of Donan Cave. Donan Cave is dominated by good to very good quality rock masses and is estimated to be stable in a relatively long period of time. However, rock fall hazard due to dynamic load at several zones, which have relatively thin and poor-quality rock masses has to be anticipated.

Abstract

River restoration is an activity to restore the river's condition to its original state. River restoration is one of the SDGs targets, namely target 6.6, Aquatic Ecosystems. The target of 6.6 SDGs is to conserve and restore water-related ecosystems such as mountains, forests, wetland vegetation, rivers, reservoirs and lakes. These SDGs targets will be successful with the participation of the surrounding community. In order to pursue this target, the Civil Engineering Study Program, Pancasila University has organized a community service program related to river restoration activities, in the Cimanuk-Cisanggarung river area, Cirebon. Community service activities are carried out by providing counseling about the importance of river restoration programs to high school teachers and assessing school readiness to form a water quality monitoring school partnership. To assess the understanding of river restoration and the readiness to establish partnership, a questionnaire was given. Based on the questionnaire analysis, it can be concluded that most of the participants (76%) stated that the river restoration program was important, and would be ready to partner with other schools (24%). This shows that program respondents are ready to form partnerships to support river restoration programs.

Abstract

This training focuses on testing the effectiveness of citizen journalism as a variant of social engineering for the realization of social accountability in managing village development. The potential and active participation of the youth in overseeing the management of village development needs to be sharpened or strengthened through training in the use of media and communication tools. The role of youth must be maximized in a more positive direction in the framework of village policy so they can contribute significantly to improve the pattern of village development management which will significantly influence the acceleration of public welfare achievement. Citizen journalism as a special variant of social engineering must be tested for its relevance and be further developed as an instrument for the realization of social accountability in the village that requires the community to play the role of supervisor for all village government actions. It is conducted by publishing photo-voice narratives in various available communication channels in the village, both in printed and electronic forms. This activity has been carried out for four months in 2019 (August-November) through two learning phases which are classroom learning and mentoring for transferring basic knowledge and reviewing everything that intersects with prospects, constraints and substantive needs of this citizen journalism intervention. Methods used in the training included lectures, discussions, photo-film displays, simulation, presentations, and mentoring. This intervention was effective to increase the youth’s knowledge and skill about producing various items of citizen journalism to disseminate substantive information to the public as well as to forge their courage to have a direct dialogue with the village government apparatus regarding important issues that have not been included in the formulation of village development programs.

Abstract

The slow growth of white leg shrimp and milkfish cultivation became a concern in the location of community service activity (PKM). This was mainly due to food limitation, especially concerning the difficulty in natural food development. The purpose of this endeavor is to apply the production technology and application of organic fertilizer for the cultivation of white leg shrimp and milkfish along the marginal embankments. This endeavor was carried out in April to November 2019 in Mondoe Village, Konawe Selatan District, Southeast Sulawesi. This activity was manifested by providing production facilities, training, production of organic fertilizer, the use of organic fertilizer, white leg shrimp and milkfish cultivation, monitoring, and activities evaluation. The implementation of this activity was able to increase the knowledge, perception, and skills of participants as partners in producing fermented organic fertilizer. The application of the use of organic fertilizer was able to provide alternatives and overcome the limitation of fertilizer for aquaculture businesses in embankments. The results of this PKM were proven to be able to improve partners' knowledge and skills and provide solutions in overcoming the limitation of fertilizer especially in terms of aquaculture businesses in embankments.
