Jurnal Ilmiah Teknik Mesin (JITM) diterbitkan oleh jurusan Teknik Mesin Fakultas Teknik Universitas Islam “45” (UNISMA) Bekasi. Jurnal ini sebagai jurnal berkala ilmiah yang memiliki tujuan untuk mempublikasikan pengembangan ilmu serta wawasan mengenai lingkup teknik mesin yang berfokus pada bidang energi baru terbarukan dan manufaktur. Publikasi yang diterbitkan oleh Jurnal Ilmiah Teknik Mesin UNISMA Bekasi merupakan hasil penelitian para akademisi baik dari penelitian para dosen maupun penelitian kerjasama antara mahasiswa dan dosen, bahkan juga penelitian dari kalangan para praktisi industri yang bergerak di bidang teknik mesin. JITM ini dapat diakses secara full text dan open access oleh para pembaca sehingga para pembaca juga ikut turut membantu dalam peningkatan sitasi dari JITM. JITM dipublikasikan sebanyak 2 (dua) kali dalam 1 (satu) tahun yaitu pada bulan Februari dan Agustus. Lingkup JITM meliputi bidang energi baru terbarukan, dan manufaktur. Bidang energi baru terbarukan yang dibahas mengenai sistem dan alat teknologi konversi yang mampu mengkonversi sumber energi terbarukan seperti energi tenaga air, tenaga angin, tenaga surya, biomassa, dan lain-lain untuk dapat dimanfaatkan energinya ke bidang sektor yang lain. Bidang manufaktur yang dibahas meliputi bidang material, tribologi, dan lain-lain. Redaktur mengundang para penulis dan peneliti untuk mengirimkan artikel ilmiah maupun hasil penelitiannya ke JITM UNISMA Bekasi.

Abstract

Time is a parameter that is very influential on the productivity and product quality from the nitriding process. This study aims to find out how much effect of the holding time in salt bath nitriding process to the nitride layer thickness and surface hardness of SUH35 material. This salt bath nitriding process used chemical salt with cyanide content (CNˉ) 1.5% - 4.5%, and cyanate content (CNOˉ) 28% - 32%. The workpiece used in this study is a cylindrical SUH35 material with diameter 5 mm. Temperature that used for salt bath nitriding process is 580 ° C with a variation of the holding time is 20 minutes, 25 minutes and 35 minutes. From this study, results of the data obtained are, with a holding time 20 minutes the average thickness of the nitride layer SUH35 material is 12.74 µm and the average surface hardness is 556.96 Hv. With a holding time 25 minutes the average thickness of the nitride layer SUH35 material is 16.07 µm and the average surface hardness is 792.18 Hv. With a holding time 35 minutes the average thickness of the nitride layer SUH35 material is 20.17 µm and the average surface hardness is 989.94 Hv.

Abstract

Surface roughness of a product plays an important role, especially for materials such as SUS 304 steel which is now widely used in a variety of industrial needs. Determination of the turning parameters or the appropriate type of cooling fluids are very important to obtain the desired surface roughness. The aim of the study was to determine the ideal value of feeding (f) and the ideal type of cooling fluids in the turning process of SUS 304 steel. The feedrate parameters used were 0.11 mm/rev, 0.15 mm/rev, and 0.19 mm/rev, whereas the types of cooling fluids used are Fumio Lube Fumicool 794 soluble oil and Suncut 16S lubricant oil. Surface roughness results are obtained through testing using a surface roughness measuring instrument. From the predetermined parameters were obtained the smallest roughness value on the feedrate was 0.11 mm/rev using Suncut 16S lubricant oil with a result of 0.770 µm, while the largest roughness value on the feedrate was 0.19 mm/rev using Fumio Lube Fumicool 794 soluble oil with a result of 3.942µm.

Abstract

Baja SUJ2 merupakan material standar internasional yang umum digunakan untuk pembuatan bearing. Ketahanan aus (wear resistance) sangat dipengaruhi oleh nilai kekerasan. Hardness yang baik dapat dicapai dengan cara memberikan perlakuan panas pada material tersebut melalui tahapan heating, quenching, lalu tempering. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui secara jelas laju keausan material baja SUJ2 yang diberikan perlakuan variasi temperatur tempering. Pada penelitian ini, material baja SUJ2 mendapatkan perlakuan tempering dengan variasi nilai temperatur sebesar 170 0C, 200 0C, 230 0C. Hasil pengujian dengan alat uji aus tipe Pin on Disk (ASTM G99) menunjukkan bahwa baja SUJ2 dengan perlakuan tempering 170 0C dan pembebanan alat uji aus sebesar 4,9 N memiliki ketahan aus paling baik yaitu 0,7228 mm3/menit, sedangkan material baja SUJ2 dengan perlakuan tempering 230 0C dan pembebanan alat uji aus sebesar 14,7 N memiliki ketahanan aus paling buruk yaitu 2,3098 mm3/menit.

Abstract

Baja mempunyai peranan yang sangat penting dalam bidang industri maupun otomotif, sebagian besar bahan utamanya terbuat dari baja. Contohnya seperti roda gigi, roda gigi termasuk kedalam golongan baja karbon rendah. Baja ini dapat ditingkatkan lagi kekerasannya dengan cara dilakukan proses perlakuan panas dengan metode karburasi. Karburasi ialah proses penambahan unsur karbon yang tujuannya untuk menambah kandungan karbon agar bisa ditingkatkan lagi kekerasannya di area permukaan baja. Agar mendapatkan struktur mikro dan sifat baja yang diinginkan pada logam tersebut, dapat diperoleh melalui temperatur pada fasa austenite yang kemudian di dinginkan dengan pendinginan cepat sehingga dapat menghasilkan fasa martensite. Baja ST37 mempunyai karakteristik mudah dibentuk, ketangguhan dan keuletannya yang tinggi tetapi mempunyai kekerasannya yang rendah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui nilai kekerasan baja ST37 sebelum dan sesudah proses karburasi padat yang menggunakan media arang batok kelapa sebagai penambah unsur karbon dan barium karbonat sebagai katalis, dengan waktu pemanasan masing-masing yaitu 850°C, 880°C, dan 930°C yang kemudian di quenching dengan media oli. Dan hasil kekerasan baja maksimum dicapai pada temperatur 930°C.

Abstract

Enhancement human need for energy, especially fossil energy that is used in everyday life as fuel in industry and fuel that is used for personal use. Increased consumption of fossil fuels is not offset by the availability of natural resources, therefore alternative energy is needed to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. One alternative energy that has been found is electrolysis of water to produce HHO gas. This study aims to determine the production rate and efficiency of the HHO gas generator using a variety of NaOH, NaCl and KOH catalysts where each catalyst uses a mass fraction percentage of 4.76%. From the results of the research that has been done the results of NaOH catalyst have a flow rate of 2.203 ml / s and are the best catalyst compared to 1.24 ml / s NaCl catalyst and 1.859 ml / s KOH catalyst. Then for efficiency, KOH catalyst was obtained as the best catalyst with an efficiency of 8.76% compared with NaCl of 8.18% and NaOH of 7.82%

Abstract

The One of alternative energy that is environmentally friendly is by untilize water energy and turn it into a Microhydro power plant. Microhydro power plant usually made from utilize the waterfall with the head fell. While utilization for streams with a head small drop is not optimal yet. This is a reference to doing research on harnessing the flow of a river that has a value of head low between 0.7 m – 1.4 m with turning it into a Vortex flow (vortex). The purpose of this research is to know the effect variation number of blade on power and efficiency in the vortex turbine. This research uses experimental methods to find current, voltage, torque and rpm using a reading instrument. The materials research vortex turbine used 6 blade, 8 blade and 10 blade with flat plate. The result showed the highest efficiency is 29,93 % with produce turbine power is 19,58 W, generated on turbine with variation 10 blade with load 3,315 kg and the capacity of water 10,14 l/s. Followed with an efficiency 24,17% and produce turbine power is 15,81 W, generated on turbine with the variation 8 blade with load 3,315 kg and the capacity of water is 10,14 l/s. The the lowest turbine efficiency 22,32% with produce tuebine power 14,60 W, generated on turbine with the variation 6 blade with load 3,315 kg, the capacity of water is 10,14 l/s.

Abstract

Technological developments in the increasingly advanced industrial sector cannot be separated from the welding method, one of which is welding repair. Welding improvements can affect the mechanical properties and microstructure of the material used. This research was conducted to determine the effect of welding repair on UNS S32760 stainless steel duplex material using ER 2594 welding wire which was applied to a vacuum vessel tank. The process of welding original welding in sample 1 using a welding wire with a diameter of 2.4 mm receiving the largest heat input 1.394 kJ / mm. The welding repair process carried out on sample 2 using 2.4 mm diameter welding wire received the largest heat input 1.111 kJ / mm and in sample 3 also experienced welding repair using a welding wire of 2.00 mm receiving the largest heat input 1.347 kJ / mm. The impact test results showed a decrease in the toughness value in sample 2 and sample 3 which underwent welding repair. While the results of Vickers hardness testing increased in sample 2 and sample 3 which underwent a repair welding process, was directly proportional to the increase in heat input received in each sample. The microstructure in samples 2 and 3 changed the phase of Ferrite to Acicular Ferrite. In the HAZ and WL regions in sample 3 Ferrite Grain Boundary is also formed, where Grain Boundary-Ferrite is formed first in the transformation of Austenite to Ferrite, which usually forms along the Austenite boundary. In this research, welding repair process that has mechanical properties close to the mechanical properties of Base Metal is sample 2 which uses 2.4 mm diameter welding wire for welding repair.

Abstract

Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM) is increasingly being used in the manufacturing industry.Especially to overcome very hard material machinery, Mold made using EDM machine processtherefore the manufacturing time must be fast to become a finished product. In this research theauthors analyze the making of electrode into the tools in making mold by EDM machine. Sidestep of cutting speed of millions machine can be change by setting on CAM program, From theresults of this research to getting cavity with rougness 10S can using side step (previously 0,03)and get time cutting different 4 minutes or 28% faster.

Abstract

Electroplating is the process of coating metal surfaces with electrochemical methods. The use ofaluminum material as a conductor in gas insulated switchgear is no other because aluminummaterial is lighter and cheaper than other metals. But in terms of delivering aluminum electriccurrent it is more difficult because it has a greater type of resistance than copper and silver.Therefore, the conductor connection made from aluminum will be coated with copper and silverto facilitate the supply of electric current. The coating process uses electroplating method. Theelectroplating for coating process uses current strengths 0.2 A, 0.3 A, and 0.4 A. From variousvariations of the current strength will affect the thickness of the coating. The results of this studyindicate that the higher the current strength is directly proportional to the thickness of the layer.The thickness of the electroplating process that uses current strengths 0.2 A, 0.3 A, and 0.4 Arespectively is 10.88 μm, 18.83 μm, and 28.18 μm. Whereas in testing conduct electricity to theworkpiece with a silver thickness of 10.88 μm less than the workpiece with a silver thickness of18.83 μm and 28.18 μm.

Abstract

Research has been conducted on the analysis of corrosion rate of zinc electroplating on AISI1045 steel in a corrosive medium of 3.5% NaCl and 5% NaCl. The electroplating time variationused is 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 15 minutes. Corrosion rate was carried out by soaking steelfor 174 hours in NaCl medium and calculated by weight loss method. The ideal time in the Znelectroplating process is 10 minutes in 3.5% NaCl solution with a weight reduction of 0.023grams and a corrosion rate of 1.670723071 mpy, while in the Zn electroplating process for 15minutes in a 5% NaCl solution the weight reduction is 0.033 grams and the corrosion rate is2,386747245 mpy. The test results on microstructure using a metallurgical microscope can beconcluded that AISI 1045 steel without electroplating is easily exposed to corrosion comparedto the Zn electroplating process.
