Abstract

The dualistic culture reality is a primary characteristic of the agribusiness extension in the context of partnership between nucleus estate and smallhorder. The reality implies to the need of communication strategy in order to achieve the effectivity of the extension effort. Dualistic culture in estate system in Indonesia was started by dualistic economy, that is at one side big estate has orientation on modern capitalism and smallholder, on the other hand, has orientation on traditional pre-capitalism.The communication strategy covers two strategies. They are convergent strategy and divergent strategy. These strategies are used by agents of change from nucleus estate in their extension activities. This paper is based on qualitative study and takes partnership case at PT Pagilaran. PT Pagilaran is a company that moves on tea agribusiness and managed by Gadjah Mada university through Yayasan Pembina Fakultas Pertanian.

Abstract

The use of planting media in a nursery, is crucial to the growing rate of seedlings. Plantingvegetable crops, becoming faster growing with its loose planting media, adequate nutritionand moisture are assured. Physically organic material in the form of compost straw, cocopeat, and corn leaves with indigenous technology capable of crumb soil medium so that the growthof seedling become assured. One factor study was the composition of growth media preparedin Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 8 treatments and repeated 3 (three) times.Type of treatment as follows: P0 = Soil; P1 = Soil and Urea; P2 = Soil and Compost (2: 1); P3 =Soil, Compost and Cocopeat (2: 1: 1); P4 = Soil, Compost and Straw (2: 1: 1); P5 = Soil,Compost and Corn Leaves (2: 1: 1); P6 = Soil, Compost, Corn and Straw Leaves (2: 1: 1: 1); P7= Soil, Compost, Corn Leaf, Straw and Cocopeat (2: 1: 1: 1: 1). The results showed that thepercentage of seed germination at 5-7 days had reached 88% - 95%, germination rate of 4.53- 4,63 days by using composting medium of straw, cocopeat and maize leaf. The reduction ofsoil media is not significantly different from the use of soil alone or the use of urea + soil. Inthe length parameter of the plant, the number of leaves, leaf area and wet weight of the plantsdid not differ significantly between treatments, tended to be high at P4. P4 medium was ableto increase wet weight of seeds of mustard 53% and 38% compared to medium P0 (soil) andP1 (soil + urea)

Abstract

Accuration of forecasting is very usefull as a base for policy making in the future. Thisstudy aimed to test accuration of Indonesian rice supply and demand forecasting in 2015which was made in 2006. Study was done on national scale used secondary data between 1970-2004 which was obtain from legitimate institution publication. Forecasting was donethrough these steps : (a) model equation arranging, (b) model identifying, (c) modelestimating and parameter testing by two stage least square methode using SAS programanalysis software, (d) model validation test, and (e) exogenous variable forecasting usingexponential smoothing methode. Forecasting result was compared with official data in 2015published by Center for Agriculture Data and Information System, Ministry of Agriculture Republik of Indonesia (2016). Accuration was based on % deviation between official sourceand forecasting result, the more deviation the more non accurate. The results were: (a) Therewas a big deviation (109.16%) between official source and forecasting calculation onIndonesian food avaiability in 2015. Based on official source, Indonesian rice supply was44,710,528 tonnes, demand was 32,388,271 tonnes and availability was surplus 12,322,257tonnes. The main cause of surplus was over estimate of harvested area. On the contraryaccording to forecasting, supply was 40,894,521 tonnes, demand 42,023,699 tonnes, andIndonesian food availability was deficit 1,129,178 tonnes. The main cause of deficit was usingof previous estimate of consumption/capita/year which was larger than official source sodemand became larger too. None of these calculation was matching with actual condition;(b) Simulation using forecasting data which was calculated by official source way found outthat food availability which more close to real condition, that domestic production plus861,630 tonnes amount of imported rice could fulfil demand and without calculatingnational stock Indonesian food availability still surplus 1,164,574 tonnes in 2015.
