Abstract

Abstract: Hepatitis is a disorder of  liver inflamation caused by many thing such as infections, metabolism disturbance, drugs, or alcohol. The most infection of hepatitis in Indonesia are Hepatitis B and C. This research purpose was to figure out the differences between laboratorium result SGOT, SGPT, albumin, and gama-GT with fibrosis stage used by USG to patients with chronic hepatitis B and C in RSUD Ulin Banjarmasin. This research design was analysis observation with cross sectional design. There were 5 samples by choosen with purposive sampling method. The result was found the value of  SGOT was 217.75 U/L in Hepatitis B and in hepatitis C was 134 U/L (p= 0,356), the value of SGPT in hepatitis B was 175 U/L and in hepatitis C was 31 U/L (p= 0,609), and for albumin in hepatitis B was 3.29 g/dL and 3.1 g/dL in hepatitis C (p= 0,622). The statistic tests  showed there was no differences in laboratorium results of hepatitis B and C with liver fibrosis stage. Keywords: Chronic hepatitis, Liver fibrosis, SGOT, SGPT, albumin. Abstrak: Penyakit hepatitis merupakan suatu kelainan berupa peradangan hati yang dapat disebabkan oleh banyak hal, antara lain infeksi, gangguan metabolisme, obat-obatan, atau alkohol. Infeksi hepatitis terbanyak di Indonesia adalah hepatitis B dan C. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan antara hasil laboratorium SGOT, SGPT, albumin dan gama-GT dengan derajat fibrosis menggunakan pencitraan USG pada penderita hepatitis B dan C kronis di RSUD Ulin Banjarmasin. Rancangan penelitian berupa observasional analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Sebanyak lima subjek dipilih menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian didapatkan rerata kadar SGOT yang didapatkan 217.75 U/L pada hepatitis B  dan pada hepatitis C 134 U/L (p = 0,356), rerata kadar SGPT pada hepatitis B 175 U/L dan pada hepatitis C 31 U/L (p = 0,609), rerata kadar albumin pada hepatitis B 3.29 g/dl dan 3.1 g/dl pada hepatitis C (p = 0,622). Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan hasil laboratorium penderita hepatitis B dan C kronis dengan derajat fibrosis hati. Kata-kata kunci: Hepatitis kronis, fibrosis hati, SGOT, SGPT, albumin.

Abstract

Artocarpus species have been used by traditional medicine of Indonesian. It can be useful as anti-bacterial, anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-helmintics. The present study was aimed to test the inhibitory glycated hemoglobin potency of aqueous extract of Jackfuit. This study is a quasi experimental research with non randomized method post test-only group design, which using a model reaction of two groups : extract jackfruit as the test group and glikazid as the control group, with each concentration of 10%, 20%, 30%. Potential inhibitor of glycated hemoglobin jackfruit as determining the amount of IC50. From this research  got IC50 of jackfruit extracts is 56,43% (r=0,999) whereas for glikazid of 17.268 (r = 0.989). The value of r indicates a positive relationship between the concentration and the inhibitor glycated hemoglobin potential. These results indicate that the extract of Jackfruit has potential as an inhibitor glycated hemoglobin. Keywords: glycated hemoglobin,  jackfruit, Artocarpus heterophllus L, glikazid.

Abstract

Abstract: This present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of cadmium (Cd) exposure on an increasing risk of Diabetes Melitus (DM), through the measurement of blood glucose level and liver glucokinase activity in rats. The subjects that used in this study are 15 male rats (Rattus novergicus) with normal activity, 2-3 months old, and weighing 300±10 gram. The research subjects the divided into 3 groups; P0 group are given commercial fed rats diets only; P1 are given commercial fed rats + Cd with a concentration of 3 mg/l in drinking water for 1 day (acute); and P2 are given commercial fed rats+Cd with a concentration of 3 mg/l in drinking water for 4 weeks (subacute). The results of this present study shows that treatment with Cd significantly increase the levels of blood glucose (P < 0,05). The result also showed that treatment with Cd can increase the Km value of liver glucokinase, and it means Cd exposure can decrease the affinity between glucose and glucokinase. The present study demonstrated that Cd exposure could increase the risk of DM through increased the blood glucose and decrease the activity of liver glucokinase. Keywords: Cadmium, glucose metabolism, glucose, glucokinase

Abstract

Results of laboratory tests are interpreted through value. Hematological examination is an examination that is often requested and performed to determine the state of the blood and its components so that the patient's medical condition can be known. Reference value can be obtained from brochure instruments or laboratory has its own research using populations in the laboratory because of possible variation between the laboratory values with other laboratories due to differences in methods of examination and patient characteristics. The objective of the study is to get hematology reference values in Ulin Hospital, Banjarmasin. This study is cross-sectional observasional analytic  study, conducted in hospitals Ulin Banjarmasin, June-July 2014. The subject of the study consisted of 120 women and 120 men who came for medical examinations in clinical pathology laboratories Hospital Ulin, Banjarmasin. Results obtained Hb 12.5-16.7 from the men and women are from 12.0 to 15.6 g / dL. The numbers of male erythrocytes are from 4.1 to 6.0 million / uL and women are 4.0 to 5.3 million / uL. Leukocyte numbers are 4650-10300 / uL. Platelet numbers are 150-356 thousand from men and women are 177-401 thousand / uL. Parameters 75-96 fL MCV, MCH 28-32 pg, MCHC 33-37 g / dL, and RDW-CV 12.1 to 14%. The results of this study did not differ significantly with the reference value that has been used but the obtained values of MCV are lower. Keywords: Reference value, haematology, normal adult,  RSUD Ulin

Abstract

Abstract: The Canna Striata fish is a potent source of albumin as an antioxidant. Albumin is a protein capable of binding to free radicals in plasma and has 17 disulfide bonds linking sulfur-containing amino acids. The existence of thiol group bonds in albumin extract of Canna Striata fish is possible to bind to diphenylphycril hydrazyl (DPPH), causing the antioxidant capacity of Canna Striata fish extract to be high. The accumulation of free radicals produced by the administration of antituberculosis drugs from the results of isoniazid metabolism can cause hepatic necrosis. So it requires antioxidants that can reduce free radical levels, which in this study was tested in white rats induced with isoniazid and then treated with albumin protein extract Canna Striata fish. This research method is the first experimental method done is the characterization of albumin protein extract Canna Striata fish with temperature 25˚C and 40˚C by Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate Polyacrilamide Gel Electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). Then the antioxidant level was tested by measuring the levels of Malondialdehyde (MDA) after 2 last week treatment period in 5 groups of white rats are positive control group, negative control group and 3 treatment groups induced Isoniazid toxic dose are 37.8 mg accompanied by giving of albumin protein extract Canna Striata fish with content of 20ml/kg, 40 ml/kg and 60 ml/kg. The result of this study showed that there were ten albumin protein profiles with size 15,41 kDa, 19,74 kDa 28,6 kDa, 38,87 kDa, 46,08 kDa, 72,45 kDa, 94,42 kDa , 120.82 kDa, 142.80 kDa, and 155.97 kDa. Based on One Way ANOVA and Post Hoc Tukey statistic test, it were found that there was the significant influence and differentiation of Malondialdehyde (MDA) level on giving of albumin  protein extract in white rats induced by Isoniazid with p-value 0,002. Abstract

Abstract: To boost immunity can do aerobic exercise and adequate rest. Mild aerobic exercise for 30 minutes is able to activate the white blood cells work. Ideally aerobic exercise is 30 minutes five times a week. Excessive exercise would likely lead to depressed immunity. The Aerobic exercise in adolescents based research can improve the adaptation autonomic control of the heart of adolescent males - males significantly after aerobic exercise three weeks, is characterized by increased heart rate fast at the beginning or the first 10 seconds exercise (adaptation parasympathetic) and increased heart rate slow during exercise Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is one of the cytokines that play a major role in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis. This study aims to determine whether there is difference in the levels of interleukin-4 (IL-4) and Total Eosinophils after mild and moderate aerobic exercise in adolescent research using observational study. Samples of blood plasma derived from venous blood of adolescents who do aerobic mild, moderate and control. Blood plasma is then measured with analytical techniques Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Data were analyzed by t-test (t test) is not paired with a = 0.05. Research shows that the average value of the levels of IL-4 and Number of Eosinophils in adolescents who do aerobic mild and moderate significantly different with teenagers who do not do aerobic (control) (p <0.05). Conclusion of the study is the levels of IL-4 and the number of Eosinophils in adolescents who did aerobic lower than the levels of IL-4 and the number of Eosinophils in adolescents who do aerobics mild and moderate and the differences were statistically significantly different. Keywords: IL-4, Eosinophils, aerobic exercise. Abstrak: Untuk meningkatkan kekebalan tubuh dapat melakukan latihan aerobik dan istirahat yang cukup. Latihan aerobik ringan sekalipun selama 30 menit, mampu mengaktifkan kerja sel darah putih. Idealnya latihan aerobik 30 menit selama lima kali seminggu. Olahraga berlebihan justru akan mengakibatkan tertekannya kekebalan tubuh. Latihan aerobik pada remaja berdasarkan penelitian dapat meninggkatkan adaptasi kontrol otonom jantung remaja laki - laki secara signifikan setelah dilakukan latihan aerobik 3 minggu, ditandai dengan peningkatan denyut jantung yang cepat diawal atau 10 detik pertama latihan ( adaptasi parasimpatis) dan peningkatan denyut jantung yang lambat selama latihan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk megukur kadar Interleukin-4 (IL-4) dan jumlah Eosinofil setelah latihan aerobik ringan dan sedang pada remaja. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian berupa Quasi experiment design dengan rancangan penelitian posttest with Control Group dimana penelitian dilakukan dengan cara diberikan Intervensi. Kemudian dilakukan Posttest  (pemeriksaan) pada kelompok Eksperimen dan Kontrol, dengan jumlah sampel 31 Responden dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok. Hasil analisis Penelitian didapatkan kadar Interleukin-4 menunjukan nilai rerata pada latihan aerobik ringan 466.1667±76.34799, pg/ml nilai rerata pada aerobik sedang 572.1250±142.32555pg/ml dan rerata kontrol adalah 653.6500±95.25661pg/ml. Analisis kemaknaan dengan uji Anova untuk menguji atau membandingkan tiga kelompok. Menunjukan bahwa p=0,004. Hal ini berarti bahwa rerata kadar IL-4 pada ketiga kelompok berbeda secara bermakna (p < 0, 05). Hasil analisis Penelitian jumlah Eosinofil menunjukan bahwa nilai rerata jumlah Eosinofil latihan aerobik ringan adalah 3,1000±1,52233% rerata aerobik sedang adalah 1,5500±0,88984 % dan rerata kontrol adalah 2,6800±1,76434%. Analisis kemaknaan dengan uji Kruskal-Wallis berfungsi untuk menguji atau membandingkan tiga kelompok yang menunjukan bahwa p=0,066. Hal ini berarti bahwa rerata jumlah Eosinofil pada ketiga kelompok tidak berbeda secara bermakna (p > 0, 05) Kata-kata Kunci : Interleukin-4, Eosinofil, Latihan Aerobik Ringan dan Sedang

Abstract

Abstract: The study aimed to evaluate the sub-acute toxicity effect of aqueous N. coriacea leaves extract to kidney and liver function. The biotoxic study was conducted using male rats. In this study, the experimental animals received five different doses of aqueous N. coriacea leaves extract (0.1 mg, 1 mg, 10 mg, 100 mg, and 1000 mg per day) for 4 weeks via oral route. After treatment, the level of plasma ureum, creatinine, Aspartate Transaminase (AST) and Alanine Transaminase (ALT) level were measured. The results show that most of dose treatments of aqueous extract of N. coriacea leaves had not statistically effect on the level of the plasma ureum and creatinine except for dosage of 1000 mg. Similarly, the dose treatments of that extract did not statistically change the plasma AST and ALT, except on 100 and 1000 mg/kg of b.w extract dose. In conclusion, a short-term intake of N. coriacea leaves extract via oral route was not toxic to kidney and liver. Keywords: N. coriacea, Kidney, Liver, Toxicity.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Cadmium (Cd) is a heavy metal compound which is often founded in the environment and food. It has a wide variety of negative effects on target exposed organs, such as blood. Cd increases the Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) which will lead to an increase in catalase (CAT) activity. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of Cd exposure on CAT activity in the rat ovary (Rattus norvegicus). It was an experimental laboratory using 2 groups. Control group P (0) was given 2 mL aquadest and treatment group P (1) was given Cd with 1,2 x 10-2 mg daily for 4 weeks. The results showed that the mean of the activity of CAT in the control group P(0) was 0,382 + 0,225 μU/mg while in the treatment group P(1) was 0,458 + 0,393 μU/mg. The statistical analysis test using unpaired t test showed an insignificant differences between those two groups with p = 0,599 (p > 0,05). It can be concluded that Cd does not have effect on activity of CAT in the rats’ blood. Keywords: cadmium, catalase activity, oxydative stress..ABSTRAK: Kadmium (Cd) adalah suatu senyawa logam berat yang sering terdapat pada lingkungan dan makanan. Cd memiliki berbagai efek negatif pada organ target yang terpajan, salah satunya adalah darah. Mekanisme Cd untuk merusak jaringan yang terpajan adalah dengan meningkatkan Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) yang akan menyebabkan peningkatan aktivitas katalase (CAT). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek pajanan Cd terhadap aktivitas CAT pada darah tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus). Penelitian ini bersifat laboratorik eksperimental yang dilakukan pada 2 kelompok, yakni kelompok kontrol P(0) yang diberi akuadest sebanyak 2 mL dan kelompok pajanan P(1) yang diberi Cd dengan dosis 1,2 x 10-2 mg setiap hari selama 4 minggu. Hasil penelitian didapatkan rerata pada kelompok kontrol P (0) sebesar 0,382 + 0.225 µU/mg dan pada kelompok perlakuan P(1) sebesar 0,458 + 0,393 µU/mg. Pada uji t tidak berpasangan didapatkan tidak ada perbedaan yang bermakna dari kedua kelompok dengan p = 0,037 (p < 0,05). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa Cd tidak memiliki efek pada aktivitas CATpada darah tikus putih. Kata-kata kunci: kadmium, aktivitas katalase, stres oksidatif.

Abstract

Abstract: Estimated height has an important role in identifying unknown bodies, incomplete, and the residual bone. Measurements in the long bones such as the forearm are better used to determine the height because it is the best result among the other members of the body size. The purpose of this study was to analyzed a correlation between the forearm length with the height of Banjar Tribe’s students of Medical Faculty of Lambung Mangkurat University and to obtain height estimation formula based on the forearm length in Banjar Tribe’ female. The research method is an analytical observation with cross sectional approach. The research subjects were taken by purposive sampling with samples of 52 people and were analyzed by Pearson correlation and linear regression analysis. The results of Pearson test showed that the value of p = 0,00 for the right and left arm with the value of r = 0.974 for the right arm and r = 0.972 for the left arm, which means there is a very strong relationship between the forearm length with height. It is concluded that there is a very strong correlation between the forearm length with students height of Banjar tribe Medical Faculty of Lambung Mangkurat University with height estimation formula Height = 63,838 + 3,693 x length of the right forearm and Height = 61,873 + 3,780 x left forearm length. Keywords: identification, height estimation, Banjar tribe’ female Abstrak: Memperkirakan tinggi badan mempunyai peranan penting dalam mengidentifikasi jenazah tidak dikenal, tidak lengkap, dan sisa tulang. Pengukuran pada tulang panjang seperti lengan bawah lebih baik digunakan untuk menentukan tinggi badan karena merupakan hasil terbaik diantara ukuran anggota tubuh yang lain. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis korelasi antara panjang lengan bawah dengan tinggi badan dan mendapatkan formula estimasi tinggi badan berdasarkan panjang lengan bawah pada mahasiswi suku Banjar Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Lambung Mangkurat. Metode penelitian adalah observasional analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Pengambilan subjek penelitian dengan cara purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 52 orang. Analisis yang digunakan dengan analisis korelasi Pearson. Hasil uji Pearson didapatkan nilai p = 0,00 untuk lengan kanan dan kiri. Hubungan  antara panjang lengan bawah kanan dengan tinggi badan memiliki nilai r = 0,974, sedangkan hubungan  antara panjang lengan bawah kiri dengan tinggi badan memiliki nilai r = 0,972. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah terdapat korelasi yang sangat kuat antara panjang lengan bawah dengan tinggi badan pada mahasiswi suku Banjar Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Lambung Mangkurat dengan formula estimasi tinggi badan TB = 63,838 + 3,693 x panjang lengan bawah kanan dan TB = 61,873 + 3,780 x panjang lengan bawah kiri. Kata-kata kunci : identifikasi, estimasi tinggi badan, wanita suku Banjar

Abstract

Curcumin is an active agent on Curcuma longa. Curcumin had so many biologic activities; one of them is anti fertility. Curcumin research in male reproductive system had been done. Curcumin reduced testis weight and serum testosterone. This study is done to know curcumin effect on testosterone intratesticular level in rats. This study was conducted to 15 male Sprague dawley rats aged 90 days. Rats divided into 5 groups treatment : group 1 rats were given aquades, group 2 rats were given a single dose of 50 IU hCG, group 3 rats were given CMC, group 4 rats were given curcumin, group 5 rats were given hCG and curcumin.  Rats were sacrified on age 91 days. Testis was taken, homogenizer and sentrifuge. Supernatant was taken in order to measured intratesticular testosterone level. The result of this study show intratesticular testosterone level from 5 group treatment, each group are n = 3, are (1) 44.36±1.30 (aquades), (2) 41.53±16.44 (hCG), (3) 37.33±9.05 (CMC), (4) 54.16±29.82 (curcumin), (5) 49.36±5.05 (hCG + curcuminStatistic analytic with ANOVA showed there is no significant difference  (p>0.05). This study had a conclusion that curcumin not decreased testosterone intratestikular level in rats. Keywords: curcumin, hCG, intratesticular testosterone
