Abstract

This article is intended to analyze the syntactical behavior of adjectives in Balinese language at phrases and clauses level. The data were collected using the observation method and note-taking and recording techniques. The data were analyzed using the connecting and comparing techniques, and distributional method with deletion, transformational, and insertion techniques. The results of data analysis were formally and informally presented using both inductive and deductive techniques. The results of the study show that in the endocentric and attributive phrases, the adjectives in Balinese language function as the central and attributive elements, that in the endocentric and coordinative phrases, they function as the central element only, and that in the exocentric phrase, they function as the axis. The meaning of the phrase with an adjective + adjective construction refers to equivalence and opposition. In the clausal level, adjectives in Balinese language function as predicate, complement, and adverb.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the use of neologisms to revitalize the Indonesian language in writing journal articles in science and technology and to describe the types of morphological processes of the forms of neologisms found. This research uses descriptive methods with a mixed approach. The data used are science and technology terms, including Indonesian neologisms in science and technology journal articles indexed by Sinta 2, which were collected using reading and note-taking techniques. Morphosemantic study to see the process of forming neologisms in science and technology and the changes in meaning that occur. As a result, three types of morphological processes were found that were used to form neologisms in science and technology: composition, affixation, and abbreviation. Then, the aim of forming neologisms is predominantly as equivalent forms of terms from foreign languages. This also supports the revitalization of the Indonesian language.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the form of speech acts in the text that has been transcribed from the Balinese video by Arykakul Bali. This research uses the theory of pragmatics, especially regarding the form of speech acts according to George Yule. The methods and techniques used are in the stage of providing data, the listening method is used, assisted by the basic technique of tapping and the advanced technique of free listening, and note taking. Then continued with literal and idiomatic translation techniques. At the stage of data analysis, the pragmatic pairing method was used with the basic technique of PUP and the advanced technique of HBMP. At the stage of presenting the results of data analysis, formal and informal methods are used with deductive and inductive techniques. This study took a sample of five videos that have been published on the youtube channel account of Arykakul Bali. The results obtained in this study are the form of speech acts in the Balinese video text by Ary Kakul consisting of 87 direct speech acts and 24 indirect speech acts.

Abstract

The study focused on analysing the types of derivational suffixes. The data was taken from The Dry by Jane Harper and analysed by using the theory from Plag (2003) and Carstairs-Mccarthy (2002). The data collected was analysed by using a descriptive qualitative method. The results of this study were explained using both formal and informal methods. The findings showed that there are four types of derivational suffixes found in this novel, such as nominal suffixes, verbal suffixes, adjectival suffixes, and adverbial suffixes. The total of the data found in this study is 194 data which consist of nominal suffixes with 66 data. The second, in verbal suffixes with 1 data. Next, adjectival suffixes with 69 data. The last suffix is adverbial suffixes with 58 data.

Abstract

Conjunction are crucial for connecting word, phrases, or clauses in a sentence, enhancing coherence and facilitating smooth communication. The aim of this study is to analyze the types and functions of conjunctions in the novel entitled The Target by David Baldacci. The study uses descriptive qualitative method by using theory from Halliday and Hassan with different years. By using the theory of Halliday and Hassan (1976) to analyze the types of conjunctions, and the theory of Halliday and Hassan (1985) to analyze the functions of conjunctions. .. The result of this study shows that the additive type of conjunction has the highest and most dominant occurrence which is forty-three times (61,5%) in the use of conjunction. Because additive conjunction are more often used in a sentences in novrl such as conjunction “and” and “or” The abstract is not well organised so it’s hard for me to follow.

Abstract

As in most languages, the Arabic vocative is a lingual unit that has an important position in communication, like showing politeness, familiarity, etc. This research aims to analyze the syntactic dimensions of the vocative title with the particle /y?/ in Arabic and was conducted to fill the research gap regarding the vocative title in Arabic. This research uses a mixed methods, with the book /?al-qir??atu ‘r-raš?datu/ as the data source. The data was analyzed using agih method with a syntactic approach, namely revealing the form of the particle /y?/ vocative title, the type of sentence that accompanies it, and its distribution in the sentence. The results show that the vocative title mostly uses the particle form /y?/ zhahir, used in news sentences, and at the beginning of sentences. It’s hoped that the results of this research can become a reference for Arabic learners to study and practice in daily communication

Abstract

Identification of types and forms of archaeological statues can be found by the iconographic characteristics that define the identity of the figures being portrayed. Karangasem, Bali is one area that has remains of statues with intriguing iconographic characteristics, that is, the portrayal of figures using turban as a head covering. This kind of statue portrayal is rarely found in Bali and in Indonesia. The existence of several statues with turban indicates a certain concept regarding the characterization of the turbaned figure. This research was aimed to analyze the statues distributed in several temples in Karangasem, Bali. The method used consists of collecting data and analyzing data. The statues are iconographically analyzed. Analysis is conducted in two ways, which are morphology and technology. The results showed that the statues are the embodiment of religious figures that prove the existence of religious figures in ancient Balinese society.

Abstract

This research aims to examine elements of Javanese culture in the novel "Garuda Gaganeswara Teka-Teki Jalan Lurus Melingkar" (GGTTJLM) using the Circuit of Culture Hall approach and Koentjraningrat Literary Anthropology. As a country rich in cultural diversity, Indonesia holds a rich culture that is the heritage of its people. However, the potential for social divisions can arise if this diversity is not properly understood and monitored. Children's literature, as depicted in Nilandari's work entitled "Garuda Gaganeswara: The Puzzle of a Straight and Circular Road", plays an important role in shaping, reflecting and inheriting the values, norms and traditions of society. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of phrases, words and discourse. Data collection was carried out through literature study using reading and note-taking techniques. The research results show that the representation of Javanese culture in the novel GGTTJLM reflects local wisdom, including myths about Dewi Sri and Masangin as seen from the perspective of the Circuit of Culture Hall. The identified cultural elements involve community activities in language, knowledge systems, social organization, living equipment and technology systems, livelihoods, religion and art.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the aspects identified as a form of self-defense mechanism that occurs in the main character Matara in the novel "Mata Di Tanah Melus" by Okky Madasari. This research is studied using Sigmund Freud's thoughts on self-defense mechanisms. According to Freud, self-defense mechanisms are efforts from the subconscious to defend themselves from threats or anxiety. To describe the findings, this research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The results of this study show that there are four forms of self-defense mechanisms in Matara's character when facing conflict, namely: denial self-defense mechanism, repression self-defense mechanism, formation reaction self-defense mechanism, and rationalization self-defense mechanism. All forms of self-defense mechanism responses that occur in Matara's character are Matara's efforts to regain her comfort when she is in a situation that makes her anxious.
