Abstract

Background: Physical exercise cannot be separated with body sweating, which is one of effort the body to maintain the homeostatic and thermoregulation. the factor of sweat rate is environment condition, for examples are room temperature and relative humidity. Aim: Compare physical exercise in two different environmental conditions, including at night and in the morning to the sweat rate. Method: The quantitative research design with descriptive design uses a one shot case study. Using as many as 40 male students divided into four groups. Result: To find out the differences between the two groups, this study used independent samples t-test. The group continuous running activity in the morning and at night has an average sweat rate as much as 0,49 liter ± 0,28 and 0,62 liter ± 0,31 with the value of (p > 0,05). The group cycing with HIIT activity in the morning and at night has an average sweat rate as much as 0,34 liter ± 0,177 and 0.42 liter ± 0,176 with the value of (p > 0,05). Conclusion: The average sweat rate of night physical exercise is more than the average sweat rate in the morning, even though there is no significant difference between both.Keywords: Relative humidity, night physical exercise, morning physical exercise, sweat rate, thermoregulation

Abstract

Berbagai gejala yang dirasakan wanita saat menstruasi sangat mengganggu aktivitas sehari-hari sehingga produktivitas menjadi menurun. Primary Dysmenorrhea berat dengan gejala tidak dapat mengerjakan apapun, ada yang pingsan, merasa mual, muntah. Primary Dysmenorrhea ringan biasanya mengalami pegal pada paha, sakit pada payudara, perut kembung, sakit kepala, sakit punggung, merasa lelah, mudah tersinggung, kehilangan keseimbangan, menjadi ceroboh, tidur terganggu. Untuk mengurangi Primary Dysmenorrhea ada beberapa intervensi seperti manipulasi viseral dan senam aerobik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisa perbedaan manipulasi viseral dengan senam aerobik dalam mengurangi primary dysmenorrhea pada mahasiswi di Poltekkes Dr.Rusdi Medan. Design penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian experimental study pre dan post test design. Didapatkan sampel berjumlah 30 orang yang didapatkan dari hasil sistematik random sampling. Kelompok pertama dilakukan manipulasi viseral (n=15). Kelompok kedua dilakukan senam aerobik (n=15). Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 8 minggu dengan frekuensi 3 kali seminggu menggunakan skor MSQ (Menstrual Symptom Quetionare). Dari analisis statistik parametrik dengan uji hipotesis paired samples t-test. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan kedua kelompok perlakuan secara signiikan dapat menurunkan primary dysmenorrhea, nilai rerata sebelum perlakuan kelompok I 93,07±8,03 dan sesudah perlakuan 46,73±5,21 nilai p=0,00 (p<0,05). Pada kelompok perlakuan II didapatkan nilai rerata sebelum perlakuan 93,87±9,65 dan setelah perlakuan 53,27±3,24 nilai p=0,00 (p<0,05). Pada hasil uji Independent Samples Test, didapatkan hasil p=0,00 (p<0.05) yang berarti ada perbedaan signifikan antara kelompok perlakuan I dengan kelompok perlakuan II. Simpulan pada penelitian ini didapatkan hasil bahwa kelompok perlakuan manipulasi viseral lebih efektif daripada senam aerobik dalam mengurangi primary dysmenorrhea pada mahasiswi di Poltekkes Dr.Rusdi Medan.

Abstract

Background: Disorder of dynamic balance is often found in children with Down syndrome which causes difficulty in maintaining posture against impending disorders. If this is left it will certainly cause problems of further motor development. Purpose: To prove the physiotherapy intervention that can improve dynamic balance among children with down syndrome 7-15 years. Methods: The research is true experimental with pre-test and post-test group design. This study used 24 subjects in 2 groups, group 1 (n=11) given dynamic neuromuscular stabilization on while group 2 (n=11) given perceptual motor program. Divided randomly into 2 groups that is group 1 dynamic neuromuscular stabilization and group 2 perceptual motor program. The exercise is held 3 times a week in 6 weeks. Measurements of this dynamic balance are using sixteen balance tests. Result: The paired sample t-test statistical test in group 1 showed a significant difference with value (p <0.001) on mean before intervention 48.5±5.428 and after intervention 72.75±4.413. The paired sample t-test statistical test in group 2 showed a significant difference with value (p <0.001) on mean before intervention 48.5±5.3 and after intervention 69.42±4.379. Different test between group 1 and 2 using independent sample t-test showed a significant difference with value (p<0.001). Conclusion: The conclusions are dynamic neuromuscular stabilization is better than perceptual motor program in improving dynamic balance among children with down syndrome 7-15 years at Pradnyagama Foundation Denpasar.

Abstract

In volley ball game, the mistakes that usually conduct by athlete was inaccurate of the blocking move, therefore the hit which was conducted by the rivals always unblock. It was caused by less of good physical condition and well block technique then it was effected the jump high. The training was needed to improve the bad physical condition and block’s technique. Leg muscle explosive power is one of the important components of the physical condition which was required in sports especially in barrier’s jump. The exercise which is used in this study was exercise of barrier’s jump in 50 cm with variations of sprint 5 meters 10 repetitions 3 sets and 5 repetitions 6 sets. This training aims to compare the training which further enhances the high jump, to find out the effectiveness of barrier’s jump of 50 cm with a variation of 5 meter sprint to the increasing of jump’s high. It had been conducted the research of experimental study with randomized pre- and post- test control group design. The numbers of the samples were 28 people that were divided into two groups, the number of each group was 14 people that were chosen randomize with a simple lottery. Group 1 was given the exercise of 50 cm barrier’s jump with variation of sprint was 5 meters 10 repetitions 3 sets, and group 2 was given 50 cm barrier’s jump with the sprint’s variation was 5 meters 5 repetitions 6 sets. Abstract

Introduction: Productive women who’s working in static potition can cause stiffness back muscle. The stiffness of back muscle can decrease lumbal flexibility. When lumbal flexibility was decreased, it can cause low back pain during activities. Yoga and pilates exercise are recommended program for increase lumbal flexibility.. Purpose: This study aims to prove the pilates exercise is more effective to increase lumbal flexibility comparing with yoga on adult woman. Method: Design of this study uses research methods experimental study pre and post test design. Total sampel of this research study are 30 adult women at Banjar Kelod Ungasan, whose age are 30-45 years old and have 0-20 cm flexibility score. The sampel devided into two groups which the group I (n=15) was given pilates exercise ,while group II (n=15) was given yoga twice a week in 6weeks. This research was using sit and reach test as measured flexibility. Result: Based on Paired Sample t-Test statistical analysis the results of this study research shown that the difference in the mean of lumbal flexibility in group I was obtained 21.34±3.13cm with p<0.001 , while the mean of lumbal flexibility in group II was obtained 19.11±2.39cm with p<0.001. The difference lumbal flexibility in group I and group II was obtained 5.36±1.48cm with p<0.001. Conclusion: The conclusion that the pilates exercise was more effective to increase lumbal flexibility comparing with yoga on adult woman.

Abstract

Mechanical neck pain has the same high prevalence with low back pain, and commonly found in many of physiotherapy practice. Combination of Mulligan technique and Soft Tissue Mobilization are one of manual therapy technique highly effective and efficient to care the case of mechanical neck pain but still very rarely used by physiotherapist in fields of practice. This study aimed to know the effectiveness between Mulligan technique – Soft Tissue Mobilization and only Soft Tissue Mobilization to the increasing range of motion extension, rotation and side flexion cervical on the mechanical neck pain. The study design was a pre test – post test control group design using two group of samples are control groups that given intervention Soft Tissue Mobilization and treatment groups that given a combination of Mulligan technique and Soft Tissue Mobilization. Measuring instrument used for data collection was goniometer, that the goniometer was used to measure the range of motion extension, rotation and lateral flexion of the cervical either before the intervention and after the intervention. Sample of this study was 32 people who divided into 2 groups of samples were 16 people in the control group and 16 people in the treatment group. Samples in the control group had a mean age of 35,69 with male of 7 people (43,8%) and female of 9 people (56,2%) as well as limitations of the right direction were 12 people (75%) and left direction were 4 people (25%). Whereas in the treatment group had e mean age of 35,94 with male of 10 people (62,5%) and female of 6 people (37,5%) as well as limitations of the right direction were 11 people (62,5%) and left direction were 5 people (31,2%). The results of hypothesis testing using independent sampel t-test showed a significant difference between the mean post-intervention ROM extension, rotation, lateral flexion of the control groups and the mean post-intervention ROM extension, rotation, lateral flexion of the treatment groups, with value p < 0,05. It is suggests that the Mulligan technique and Soft Tissue Mobilization resulting increase range of motion extension, rotation, and side flexion of the cervical that significantly greater than only Soft Tissue Mobilization on the mechanical neck pain. Thus, it can be concluded that the Mulligan technique and Soft Tissue Mobilization better than only Soft Tissue Mobilization to the increasing range of motion extension, rotation, and side flexion cervical on the mechanical neck pain.

Abstract

Overweight was one of the adolescent health problem in Indonesia. Aerobic exercise can reduce body fat, prevent overweight and increase flexibility. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of Hatha Yoga and low impact aerobic exercise to the percentage of body fat and flexibility of adolescent girl in Denpasar. Research used randomized pre-test and post-test design involved 26 subject. Group 1 treated hatha yoga and Group 2 treated low impact aerobic. This intervention was given for 6 weeks, frequency 3 times a week, for 45 minute in Sanggar Senam Studio 88 Denpasar. The result shown that hatha yoga reduced the percentage of body fat with mean decrease of 4.91% and low impact aerobic exercise with a mean decrease of 1.41%. Increasing of flexibility hatha yoga with a mean 12.58 cm and low impact aerobic exercise with a mean 8.54 cm. The result from different test used independent t test found that mean decreased for the percentage of body fat after intervention equal to 4.28% with value of p = 0.032 and mean increased flexibility by 5 cm with value of p = 0.035. That result shown that there is a significant difference of body fat percentage and flexibility after intervention during 6 weeks (p<0.05). Conclusion: hatha yoga more effective in reducing the percentage of body fat and increasing flexibility than low impact aerobic exercise of adolescent girl in Denpasar. It is suggested to individuals with overweight in order to do sports activities regularly and continuously. Hatha yoga as an alternative sport activities that can be used to reduce the percentage of body fat, increase flexibility and physical fitness.

Abstract

Background: Osteoarthritis is a complaint characterized by abnormalities in the cartilage of joints and bones nearby, this complaint is commonly felt and has become a chronic joint disease. Cartilage abnormalities will result in bones rubbing against each other, resulting in symptoms of stiffness, pain and restriction of movement in the joints that will affect the quality of functional activities performed. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of ultrasound therapy and neuromuscular taping (nmt) in increasing functional activity in cases of knee osteoarthritis.Research method: The study used experimental with randomized design type pre test and post test control group design. The study was divided into 2 groups, namely group 1 would receive Ultrasound intervention and group 2 would receive Ultrasound and neuromuscular taping intervention. The number of samples in this study was 11 samples per group so that the total number of samples in the two groups was 22 respondents. Measurements of knee functional activity values were measured by the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) questionnaire.Results: Group 1 with a value of p = 0,000 (p <0.05) which showed a significant difference between the value of tenderness before and after the intervention of ultrasound therapy. Group 2 obtained a value of p = 0,000 (p <0.05) indicating there was a significant difference between the value of tenderness before and after the intervention of ultrasound therapy and neuromuscular taping. The results of the calculation of the mean difference were p = 0,0001, the data showed that there was no difference in influence between groups, which means that the provision of ultrasound therapy and neuromuscular taping was no better in increasing functional activities of knee OA patients compared to ultrasound therapy.Conclusion: the provision of ultrasound therapy and neuromuscular taping is not better in increasing

Abstract

Lansia mengalami penurunan keseimbangan postural akibat tulang kehilangan densitas atau cairan, penurunan kekuatan otot dan stamina menurun menimbulkan gangguan berjalan, mempertahankan posisi postural sehingga meningkatkan resiko jatuh lansia.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk melihat pengaruh kombinasi senam lansia dan latihan jalan tandem terhadap peningkatan keseimbangan tubuh lansia. Penelitian ini adalah studi experiment dengan rancangan pre test and post test group design. Penelitian dilakukan di Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha Kawasan Sumatera Barat pada bulan April – Mei 2016. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan random sampling dan besar sampel ditentukan dengan rumus rumus pocock yaitu sejumlah 34 lansia dari 70 Lansia yang dibagi dua untuk kelompok kontrol dan perlakukan setelah dilakukan seleksi inklusi dan eksklusi.Kelompok kontrol diberikan senam lansia dan kelompok perlakuan diberikan kombinasi senam lansia dan latihan jalan tandem sejauh 4 m sebanyak 5 kali bolak balik. Intervensi dilakukan empat minggu dengan interval 3 kali seminggu.Alat Ukur yang diggunakan adalah Berg Balance Scale. Hasil penelitian di dapatkan dari 34 lansia terdiri dari 25 pria (73,5%) dan 9 wanita (26,5%), rerata usia lansia adalah 69,3 tahun pada kelompok perlakuan, dan 67,7 tahun pada kelompok kontrol serta rerata IMT pada kelompok perlakuan 22,3 dan kelompok kontrol 23,7. Analisis bivariate membuktikan bahwa kombinasi senam lansia dan latihan jalan tandem lebih baik terhadap peningkatan keseimbangan pada lansia yaitu dengan beda mean 6,23 dibandingkan pada kelompok kontrol hanya 2,41. Analisis keseimbangan lansia setelah intervensi pada kelompok perlakuan dan kelompok kontrol dengan uji independent test didapatkan p value 0,015 (p< 0,05). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa adanya efek kombinasi senam lansia dan latihan jalan tandem dalam meningkatkan keseimbangan tubuh lansia di Panti Sosial Tresna Kasih Sayang Ibu Batusangkar Sumatra Barat

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Head control is a disorder of the cerebral palsy (CP) spastic quadriplegi due to central nervous system problems that serve as the basis of movement to be achieved for further development. Physiotherapy actions that can be given are stimulation attitudional reflex exercise (SARE) and prone position wedge exercise (PPWE). Purpose: This study aims to determine whether SARE is better than PPWE for head control in CP spastic quadriplegi. Methods: This research uses experimental pre and post test control group design is done at Rajawali Citra Bantul Hospital. Subjects were 24 children with CP spastic quadriplegi divided into 2 groups, group I was given SARE for 3 repetitions in 1 hour of therapy sessions and group II was given PPWE for 30 minutes. All groups were given treatment 1 time a week for 6 weeks as a refresher intervention and educated the family to do every day at home. Increased head control is measured by gross motor functional measurement. Result: Statistical test of paired sample t-test in group I and group II p value = 0.001 where (p < 0.05) there was an increase of head control. From independent t-test p value = 0.001 where (p < 0.05), it can be concluded that there are significant differences between group I with group II. Based on the mean values in both treatment groups, the group I have larger head control improvement of 33.19% than group II which only 16.96%.
