Abstract

The form of gender inequality between women and men outlines the existence of female gender inequality, one of which is the phenomenon of early marriage. Therefore, the aim of this research is to determine the forms of gender inequality in women who commit early marriage. The research method uses a constructivism paradigm with a qualitative descriptive research type. The participants of this study consist of women who have entered into early marriages, while the focal point of investigation lies in discerning the various manifestations of gender injustice experienced within this demographic. Informants were purposefully selected, utilizing purposive sampling techniques to ensure comprehensive representation and depth in data collection. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The data validity checking technique uses source triangulation and member checking. The findings of this research underscore the intricate interplay between gender injustice and entrenched cultural norms within the context of early marriage, illuminating the perpetuation of traditions and cultural practices across generations. Specifically, the study reveals pervasive forms of marginalization, subordination, stereotype reinforcement, instances of violence, and the imposition of double workloads experienced by women who engage in early marriages. Gender injustice in women from early marriage views women as having a lower status compared to men. The latest finding is that education is the single most effective weapon in fighting gender inequality and reducing the rate of early marriage.

Abstract

The desire for a white and smooth face is not only a woman's need, but has become a man's need as well. This new phenomenon is influenced by the globalization of the Korean wave, which has created contemporary cultural standards. Such as the increased need for facial skin care products among men. Therefore, this paper discusses how the development of the Korean Wave affects men's skincare needs that are provided through Instagram. It even leads to the emergence of a new hyperreality that replaces the previous cultural standard. Hyperreality is the result of postmodernism, which makes the role of media a source of new human needs. The preparation of this paper is through the netnography method and literature review. The netnography method itself is a development of ethnography that uses Internet media to find information and connect with informants. Netnography helps research to examine social phenomena that appear in the Internet world, and has special methods in interviewing and validating information data obtained from Internet media. This paper shows that Somethinc's local product is a symbol of hyperreality that shifts the special needs of one gender to a common need raised by the globalization of the Korean Wave at this time. The new standards of life brought by the media show that the media has penetrated human life. It has even become a new standard or a standard for the continuation of life.

Abstract

This article examines masculinity, gender roles, and power relations in Indonesian society through Taylor Swift’s song “The Man”. The lyrics and music video, which criticise the demands and double standards that society places on women in comparison to males, provide a framework for analysing related problems in Indonesia, a country where traditional gender roles are ingrained in the fabric of culture. The qualitative content analysis was employed to systematically evaluate the content of “The Man” within various forms of communication, such as texts, images, and videos. The analysis sheds light on the social forces that influence gender performance and the maintenance of male dominance, highlighting how Swift’s critique of gendered power inequalities may be utilised to comprehend the intricacies of masculinity and femininity in Indonesia. The article also highlights the idea of gender performance, taking into account how people in Indonesia either comply with or defy these social norms. Swift’s depiction of a society in which people would view her activities differently if she were a man is reminiscent of the experiences of numerous Indonesian women in both public and private settings. The article then concludes how these gendered expectations reinforce power relations and maintain disparities that most likely benefit men.

Abstract

The decision not to have children (also known as childfree) is a Western lifestyle that is currently being debated. The concept is regarded as unnatural, contrary to human nature, and outside of the values held by society, particularly Indonesian. From an Islamic perspective, the concept of childfree opposes the shari'ah's goals (maqasid al syari’ah) namely hifzu an-nasl (protecting of offspring). This study focused on discussing about the concept of childfree based on the perspective of Manhaj Tarjih Muhammadiyah. Three basic questions discussed were 1) the history and background of the concept of childfree, 2) the perspective of the Muhammadiyah Tarjih and Tajdid Council and 3) the concept of childfree in the perspective of Manhaj Tarjih Muhammadiyah? The method used in this research is a qualitative method using library research through several primary sources such as the book "Childfree and Happy" by Victoria Tunggono, the book of "Manhaj Tarjih Muhammadiyah" written by Syamsul Anwar, Decisions of the Tarjih National Deliberation Muhammadiyah XXV in Jakarta and other secondary sources in the form of books, books, journals, or previous research. Based on research related to the concept of childfree, then analyzed using the bayani, burhani, and irfani approaches and a collection with hierarchical assumptions, namely basic values (al-qiyām al-assiyyah), general principles (al-uṣūl al-kulliyah) and practical legal provisions (al-ahkam al-far'iyyah), it can be concluded that the concept of childfree (the decision to not have children) is not justified in Islam.

Abstract

The main objective of the research is to find out the risk of sexual harassment of persons with disabilities in Makassar City from the perspective of Islamic Law. This type of research is qualitative research (field research), with the research approach being theological-normative, sociological, and juridical. Primary data sources were eight subjects. The subjects were five women with disabilities, a psychologist, two social workers, and a religious figure. The secondary data is obtained through books, journal articles, government data, laws, fatwas, and research reports by utilizing libraries, online databases, and websites of related institutions. The data collection methods used are observation, interviews, documentation, and reference searches. Data processing and analysis techniques are carried out in three stages: data reduction, presentation/display, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study show, from an Islamic law perspective, that the protection of women with disabilities is supported by principles such as human dignity (al-Karāmah al-Insāniyah), equality (al-Musawah), justice (al-'Adalah), and freedom (al-Hurriyah). Islam underscores the importance of safeguarding and respecting the rights of all individuals, including those with disabilities. Islamic sanctions for sexual harassment can range from ta'zir (discretionary punishments) to had (prescribed punishments), depending on the severity of the offense. These Islamic principles align with human rights standards and provide a foundation for fostering a more equitable and secure environment for women with disabilities. The research implications include the development of an Islamic law-based protection system, raising social awareness, and establishing a support network to create a safe environment for women with disabilities.

Abstract

The phenomenon of pink tax is a gender inequality issue that discriminates women in the purchase of goods or services by producers. The objective of this research is to identify the pink tax phenomenon in Indonesia, encompassing its existence, influencing factors, and the urgency of the related issue. Additionally, this study aims to analyse the role of the government through policies regarding the emergence of the pink tax phenomenon. Policies closely associated with the pink tax include Law Number 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection, Law Number 5 of 1999 on the Prohibition of Monopoly Practices and Unfair Business Competition, and Law Number 7 of 2014 on Trade. The research methodology employed in this study is qualitative, involving literature review, documentary analysis, and interviews. The findings of this research indicate that the pink tax exists in Indonesia, yet awareness of this issue is not evenly distributed across all layers of society. While some institutions have acknowledged the existence of this problem, there have been no concrete steps taken to reduce or address this gender-based price discrimination. Furthermore, current policies are deemed inadequate in addressing gender-based price discrimination practices and protect women’s consumer. This is attributed to the fact that gender equality elements are not fully encompassed in the existing policies.

The result demonstrated in three founds. There are several sexual harassments that occurred in the work environment, the resistance of female workers, and the challenges they faced in carrying out their work. Sexual harassment that occurs is verbally based and disguised as a joke in the work environment.
