Abstract

Children raised by single parents often face more difficulties in family relationships than children raised in intact families. Single parents frequently struggle to balance work and parental responsibilities. Ernest Prakasa’s film Susah Sinyal attempts to raise awareness of the phenomenon of single parenthood by depicting the relationship and struggles of a single mother and her daughter. The objectives of this study were to (1) examine how the audience interprets the representation of single parents in films, and (2) investigate how this representation influences the audience’s understanding of single-parent life in the real world. This study included five children raised by single parents. This is a descriptive study that is divided into two stages using the reception analysis method. The first step is to perform content analysis or encoding. The second stage is decoding, which includes a Focused Group Discussion (FGD). The findings indicate that the representation of single parents in the film has various meanings for the audience. They felt that the film accurately represented their point of view while others said no. This film does not provide many new ideas or alternative perspectives on single-parent family life. Furthermore, the message conveyed in this film could be a reflection of Indonesian society.

Abstract

Using a website has become a primary method for delivering information, doing promotion, and marketing activities. E-commerce business people acknowledged the importance of developing a reliable website to reach the market through the internet, as part of e-service, especially in a country with a large market share like Indonesia. Unfortunately, not every e-commerce web designer is aware of the website accessibility criteria, the lack of awareness creates barriers for persons with disabilities to access e-commerce websites, as buyers and sellers. The accessibility gap of those website limits the ability of persons with disabilities to optimize the presence of e-commerce as an economic opportunity. We need to overcome the barriers to create an inclusive society in Indonesia. This paper aims to provide an overview of the accessibility of e-commerce websites in Indonesia, to find the common web accessibility issues, classified them comparatively into several tiers, type of issues, and then calculates the correlation of total issues with the number of visitors. This study analyzes 39 e-commerce websites. We evaluate based on Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, using an automated tool called "aXe". The study shows evidence of various accessibility issues of e-commerce websites in Indonesia, emphasizing the necessity of web designers to pay more attention to accessibility for users with disabilities. This study also provides several recommendations to website accessibility as part of e-service quality.

Abstract

As an event that grabs the public's attention, domestic violence (KDRT) is still making headlines in various mass media lines, including cyber media. This study aims to identify cases of domestic violence reported by the cyber media Hulondalo.Id and describe the categorization patterns made by the media to frame domestic violence events in Gorontalo. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a framing analysis tool from Murray Edelman. The results showed that the cases of domestic violence published by the cyber media Hulondalo.Id were quite diverse. In the news, certain categorizations are formed for perpetrators and victims of domestic violence. This form of categorization becomes a pattern of media framing of cases of domestic violence that occurred in Gorontalo. The pattern made by Hulondalo.Id places the perpetrators as coercive, drunken, sadistic, barbaric, and persecuting figures. Meanwhile, the victim is positioned as a helpless figure, a patient young wife, and a poor woman. Ideologically the media position themselves as siding with the victim. But the textual facts prove that the Hulondalo.Id cyber media tends to exploit the identity of the victim rather than the identity of the perpetrators of domestic violence.

Abstract

Religious-based identity political content is widespread on social media, raising voter polarization and social conflict. This research revealed the religious commodification of political buzzers for political identity and the hyperreality created on social media to attack their political opponents with identity politics. It used a qualitative commodification perspective by Jean Baudrillard. The data source was identity political content produced by buzzers from 03 October 2022 to 03 May 2023 or since the NasDem Party declared Anies Baswedan a presidential candidate. The results suggested that political buzzers coordinatedly use religion as a political commodity to build hatred through the Kadrun hashtag. In the 2019 elections, this hashtag successfully created a radical stigma among groups supporting Prabowo-Sandi and is now used to attack Anies supporters. Besides, the hyperreality created by the buzzers is the symbolization of Arab Islam to label Anies and his supporters, and indigenous Islam to describe cultural Islamic groups or native Indonesian Islam. Through social media, Arab Islam is simulated as a group full of conflict and supporting the caliphate while indigenous Islam is a peace-loving and nationalist group, which leads to widespread social disintegration, not only among Muslims in the country but also sentiment among Arab descendants in Indonesia. The impact of extreme identity politics can encourage radicalization and violence, especially when there are narratives that manipulate feelings of injustice or threats to the identity of certain groups.

Abstract

The study examines the influence of knowledge quality, self-efficacy, and reciprocity among Muslim entrepreneurs on Facebook. It employed a quantitative approach with an observation method. The findings reveal that knowledge quality positively affects online entrepreneurial knowledge-sharing activities. High-quality knowledge promotes effective collaboration and sharing within the entrepreneur community. However, self-efficacy and reciprocity were not found to influence these activities significantly. Therefore, in this context, self-confidence in one's abilities and expectations for reciprocity may be less important than previously thought. This study suggested that knowledge sharing should focus more on improving the quality of knowledge shared than fostering self-efficacy or reciprocity as higher quality knowledge could contribute to the growth and success of Muslim entrepreneurs by encouraging more effective knowledge-sharing strategies.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the implementation of news coverage on the digitalization of broadcasting and explore the online media reporting model for the digitalization of broadcasting in Indonesia. The online media reporting model encourages people to migrate from analogue to digital television platforms. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method to analyze news from the online media www.Detikcom edition November 1, 2022 to November 16, 2022. Additionally, it utilized Nvivo 12+ software for the data analysis. Detikcom was selected as the data source because it had been ranked as one of the top five online news media most accessed by the public, reaching 320.3 million visits. Most smartphone users, approximately 98%, have visited this site. Based on the researchers' analysis, ten media contents of Detikcom reported the transition from analogue to digital television. The research findings suggested that there is a configuration model for online media reporting on broadcast digitalization. In addition, the online media reporting model identifies the dynamics of the shift from analogue to digital television. The dynamic shift is influenced by economic, juridical, technical, and political views. These findings are expected to provide valuable insights for future researchers studying the digital broadcasting ecosystem in Indonesia post-ASO (Analogue Switch-Off) or post-digitalization.
