Abstract

Academic Inbreeding is a practice of educational institution which hires their graduates in their institutions. Research about Academic Inbreeding has been done in many countries. Academic Inbreeding research in Indonesia has not been done yet so far. The present research purposed to show the existence of Academic Inbreeding in Indonesia. Field of Communication which selected in this research because the number of doctoral program and master of communication science still limited. This problem brings up an assumption that the institutions which have doctoral program tend to have academic inbreeding. The result of his research found that academic inbreeding affected by geographical factors, historical factors, and university status.

Abstract

Marketplace reksadana online mempermudah masyarakat yang memiliki minat untuk melakukan investasi. Marketplace reksadana online menawarkan serta menjual produk reksadana kepada masyarakat yang menjadi target sasarannya melalui digital platform. Terdapat sejumlah informasi terkait investasi pada setiap website marketplace reksadana online. Informasi tersebut sangat penting untuk diketahui oleh para investor dan calon investor dari berbagai kalangan, termasuk para investor dan calon investor dari kalangan penyandang disabilitas. Hambatan aksesibilitas terhadap informasi yang terkandung dalam website akan memberikan hambatan tertentu bagi penyandang disabilitas untuk berpartisipasi dalam dunia investasi. Sejumlah literatur menunjukkan keterkaitan antara aksesibilitas dengan reputasi. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan evaluasi terhadap sejumlah website marketplace reksadana online dari aspek aksesibilitas dan reputasi online. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif dengan melakukan evaluasi. Alat evaluasi aksesibilitas yang digunakan adalah aXe Devtools, dengan menggunakan WCAG 2.0 sebagai standar. Sedangkan untuk evaluasi reputasi online dilakukan melalui pengecekkan skor Search Engine Optimization (SEO) dengan menggunakan alat Lighthouse Report Review dan SEO Site Checkup. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa website marketplace reksadana online yang diteliti pada penelitian ini masih memiliki sejumlah isu aksesibilitas yang dapat menghambat aksesibilitas informasi bagi penggunanya, termasuk dari kalangan penyandang disabilitas. Sedangkan hasil pengecekkan skor SEO menunjukkan angka yang cukup baik.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic, which has lasted a long time, requires organizations to adapt in running their organizational work programs. BEM FISIP Universitas Brawijaya 2020 experienced it, which requires the members to be adaptive to the pandemic situation. Changes in organizations' work ways occur in implementing work programs, coordination, and bonding activities between members that must be carried out online. Adoption of communication technology is one of the solutions applied by the organizations. Some previous research has explained that a pandemic situation makes individuals have subjective communication experiences in response to a pandemic. Using an interpretive paradigm and phenomenology, the present research seeks to explain what organizational management experience in running their organizations during the Covid-19 pandemic. The present study also aims to explain what obstacles are experienced and how to overcome the organization's obstacles during the Covid-19 pandemic. The results revealed that the members experienced advantages and disadvantages in running the organization during the pandemic. The study found that the members experienced constraints; however, they have adaptive solutions to face the pandemic. Another finding is that there are different experiences in carrying out organizational activities by members who suppose they are introverts or extroverts.

Abstract

Family Planning (FP) is a program continuously promoted by the Government of Indonesia to control population growth. One of the government's efforts is to increase long-acting contraceptive methods (LAPM). Information about FP and LAPM is important for couples of childbearing age deciding on contraceptive method choice. This research uses the theory of planned behavior, and the present study examines the effect of information exposure about FP on intentions to use LAPM, mediated by several factors forming behavioral intentions. The present study conducted a cross-sectional survey of 74 women of childbearing age in Kampung KB RW01 Pringgokusuman, Yogyakarta City. PLS-SEM (Structural equation modeling) was employed to test the model's fit and path analysis. The present research found that information exposure to FP predicts attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control related to LAPM. The results also showed that the intention to use LAPM is significantly influenced by information exposure about FP mediated by subjective norms but not mediated by attitude and perceived behavioral control. The present study also discusses the implications of these findings for the theoretical realm and the practical domain of FP.

Abstract

Many films have raised the story of sports as the major story or as the background of a film. However, so far, no research has been obtained that analyzes the mapping of research results related to film and sports. Therefore, this study intends to examine various studies related to film and sports that global researchers have produced. This research uses the bibliometric method. The data source used is the Web of Science, while the tools used to process and display the data are ScientoPy and VosViewer. The results showed that the development of scientific publications starts 2000 to 2021 related to films and sports experienced fluctuating developments. Authors from America and England occupy the top positions for the number of publications. However, in the period 2020 and 2021, researchers from France and Canada are researchers who are more productive in publishing their scientific works. They included most published scientific works related to films and sports in the WoS version of the Social science category. However, Between 2020-2022, more are categorized into the subject of Communication and Film, Radio, & Television. Reference sources widely cited in scientific publications related to film and sports are books by Beeton with the title film-induced tourism (2005) and Crosson's work with the title sport and film (2013). The results of the keyword mapping show that six clusters represent some keywords used by the author in scientific works related to films and sports. In conclusion, sports and cinema research are fully developed in this research.

Abstract

Tayangan drama atau sinetron populer di televisi dengan rating tinggi telah menarik perhatian sejumlah peneliti untuk mengkajinya dari berbagai aspek. Terdapat beberapa judul sinetron popular di Indonesia yang telah dikaji dalam berbagai bentuk penelitian. Tingginya jumlah kajian, menunjukkan semakin tingginya kesadaran peneliti untuk mengkaji realitas yang aktual, namun sekaligus menimbulkan kekhawatiran terjadinya pengulangan tema riset. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan pemetaan hasil penelitian terkait sinetron popular di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan adalah Bibliometrik. Hasil riset yang berlandaskan berpikir reflektif menunjukkan bahwa sinetron “Anak Jalanan” menjadi sinetron yang paling banyak diteliti. Tingginya jumlah riset tentang judul sinetron ini berkaitan dengan rating and share sinetron tersebut. Tren penelitian terkait sinetron populer juga cenderung meningkat setelah tahun kedua atau ketiga penayangan, dan trennya menurun setelahnya. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa berakhirnya sinetron tidak langsung menghentikan keberlangsungan riset tentang sinetron tersebut. Temuan lainnya adalah terdapat enam klaster topik. Masing-masing klaster yang tercermin dalam kata kunci memiliki karakteristik khusus terkait topik riset-riset terdahulu tentang tayangan sinetron di Indonesia. Adapun implikasi dari temuan ini adalah adanya peningkatan jumlah kajian yang berkaitan dengan masa tayang dikhawatirkan mengarah kepada tren yang bersifat temporer. Terdapatnya similiaritas topik yang tercermin pada kata kunci menunjukkan adanya kesamaan minat, ide, dan penggunaan metode yang harus diantisipasi agar tidak terjadi pengurangan nilai originalitas dan aksiologi dari sebuah karya ilmiah.

Abstract

Background: The use of contraceptive methods by couples of childbearing age can be influenced by the information received on Family Planning (FP). FP information can be received or accessed from various sources or channels such as electronic and printed mass media, promotional media (posters and leaflets), social media, and even face-to-facecommunication with certain parties who understand FP. Several studies have discussed it. Objective: Using a Systematic Literature Review and Meta-Analysis, this study seeks to present logical evidence from the published literature regarding the relationship and effect of information exposure about FP on contraceptive use. Method: Literature searches were performed on the Scopus indexing engine and the PubMed database using several keywords such as “FP message”, “FP communications”, and “media exposure and FP”. Studies should have specified criteria, such as they were published between January 2015 and December 2020, and the research locations were either in Indonesia or abroad. Results: The search results found 742 studies, and 22 studies were selected. Based on the review process, the relationship and effect of exposure to FP information on contraceptive use could be mapped through communication channels in general, namely mass media exposure about FP information, and specific communication channels, namely exposure to FP information through television, radio, print media, digital communication, and face-to-face communication. Conclusion: The use of contraceptive methods, both modern and non-modern, was strongly influenced by FP information received by couplesof childbearing age; however, some information channels proved insignificant. Therefore, further researchers can follow up on several recommendations based on this result. Various communication channels in delivering FP messages or information remain a determining factor that must be considered by further researchers, given the rapid development of media such as online media.

Abstract

Persons with disabilities are a vulnerable group when obtaining reliable information, particularly during the current Pandemic of COVID-19. This group needs accurate and dependable information related to the effort of prevention, treatment, and other information on the Pandemic. Each 34 provincial government of Indonesia has their own dedicated COVID-19 information websites providing such information to the public. This study attempt to find accessibility issues that would impact a person with disabilities on all 34 COVID-19 websites managed by each respective provincial government. This study uses aXe (https://www.deque.com), an online tool that measures the total accessibility issues, types of issues, and impacts on people with disabilities on a website. Most COVID-19 websites managed by the provincial government have shown many issues, indicating failure to comply with the web content accessibility guidelines. The biggest issue is insufficient color contrasts in elements and images and the absence of illustrative text, which are very important for a person with visual impairment. We also find that level of accessibility is not correlated with the number of visitors.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, face-to-face meetings are restricted; therefore, communication technology such as video conferencing apps is essential for workers, including legislators. Using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), this study examines technology acceptance factors on the intention to use video conferencing apps by legislators of the West Java Provincial House of Representatives during the COVID-19 pandemic. The respondents of this study were 92 legislators who were chosen randomly. The results showed that the technology acceptance factors were associated with the intention, even simultaneously predicting the intention to use video conferencing apps. There are theoretical and practical implications discussed in the findings of this study. The present study strengthens that the technology acceptance factor in the UTAUT model can explain the mechanism for the emergence of individual intentions. It is necessary to have good social influence and environmental conditions to facilitate individuals in raising behavioural intention to use communication technology.

Abstract

The present study examines website accessibility on the labour union's website regarding their ability to provide a friendly website for people with disabilities. Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) were employed to assess web accessibility. Labour union confederation’s website had significant accessibility errors on adaptable, navigable, operable, and low-contrast elements. Besides, the website had severe alerts and errors. Generally, most websites have not employ accessibility guidelines; hence information rights fulfilment among people with disabilities failed to be achieved. The limitation of this research lies in the number of labour union websites being analysed. Nevertheless, this research employs labour confederation websites with many members and federations that represent labour unions based on the type and location in Indonesia. Another limitation lies in the evaluation tools, which are limited to free tools usage. Thus, future research should employ various tools, neither free nor paid tools. Website developers should get socialisation regarding the urgency of website accessibility while repairing some aspects with low scores and errors. The government should enforce accessibility regulations. The community of people with disabilities should actively deliver their feedback to web developers thus their information rights can be fulfilled. The information rights fulfilment among workers with a disability tends to neglect by the labour unions. It can be seen from the labour union confederation's website that it is not accessible yet for all workers, so an inclusive workplace is challenging to achieve.
