Abstract

Angiogenesis is the new blood vessels formation normality and important on growth and developmentof individu. Angiogenesis also have contribution to carcinogenesis or uncontrolled and malignant cancercell development, become pathologic condition like inflammatory and infection. The purpose of this researchfor knew the effectivities of Gynura procumbens extract on various dose for inhibition Vascular EndothelialGrowth Factor (VEGF) expression. This research was done to effort cancer progress inhibition. However, angiogenesis is part of carcinogenesis causes. The Chorio Allantoic Membrane (CAM) methods was usedfor this aim. Eggs at the age of nine days were divided into 6 groups. Group I were negative control ofvehicle, group II were zero treatment: 60 ng bFGF which aplicated into paper dish. The next four groupswere extract of Gynura procumbens that divided in four dose: 60, 75, 90 and 110 µg + bFGF 60 ng whichapplicated into  paper dish.  At the twelve days old, VEGF expression analysis was done whichimunohystochemical method with anti VEGF’s antibody. The result of this research showed that therewas significant different (p<0.05) on give of Gynura procumbens extract to VEGF expression. The mostsignificant VEGF inhibition by Gynura procumbens extract with dose 110 µg. The conclusion on this studywas Gynura procumbens extract effective to inhibit the VEGF expression on CAM embrio chick.

Abstract

The aim of this study was  to determine the effect of pituitary extracts on the reproductive threeperformance of local does. This study used 15 local female does that were divided into three treatmentgroups.  Each group consisted of five does.  All does were injected with 7.5 mg Prostaglandin F2? /PGF2?(Prostavet C, Virbac S.A) intramuscularlly, twice in 10 days interval. In group 1 (K1), the does wereinseminated 36 hours after last PGF2? administration.  In group II (KII), does were injected with 500 IUpregnant mare serum gonadotropine/PMSG (Folligon ™, Intervet, Boxmeer, Holland) on day 9 cycles andfollowed with injection of 7.5 mg PGF2? two days after. In group III (KIII), goats injected with pituitaryextract on days 9, 10, and 11 cycles with decreasing dose :  2, 1, and; 0.5 ml intramuscular injection locatedat some point, followed with injection of 7.5 mg PGF2? 2 days after. The does on the KII and KIII wereinseminated 36 hours after PGF2? administration. Parameters measured were oestrous percentage, pregnancy, kidding rate, twinning, total of litter size, and averages litter size.  Results showed that alldoes (100%) from all groups showed estrous and kidding rate. Percentage of pregnant does group I, II, andIII were  60, 40, and 80%, respectively. Percentage of twinning group I, II, and III were 0, 50, and 25%.  Thetotal of litter size group I and II were 3 does, and group III were 5 does. The averages litter size group I, II,and III were 1; 1.5; and 1.25 respectively. In conclusion, treatment with pituitary extracts can increasereproductive performance of local does.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the presence and burden of Porcine Respiration and ReproductiveSyndrome (PRRS) virus in pig farms in Bali. A total of 305 sera samples were collected from 10 intensivepig farms and backyard piggeries located in eight districts, in Bali. The PRRS antibody and the virus wasdetected using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and transverse reverse polymerase chainreaction (RT-PCR), respectively. The results showed that, generally the average percentage of positiveswine anti-PRRS antibody was 13.4%, 14.3%,  and 11.7% in the backyard farms and commercial farms, respectively. Whereas, the detection rate of PRRS virus was 8.9% (15.3% and 5.6% in the backyard farmand commercial farms, respectively). It was concluded that PRRS virus is endemic in pigs, in Bali.Vaccination, management, biosafety, and quarantine  should be implemented to prevent the economicloss due to PRRS.

Abstract

Physiological aging or aging due to oxidative stress decrease glutathione level in the hippocampuswhich impacts the respons impaired hippocampus celuller. Hippocampus cellular respons disorderscharacterized with decreased viability, increased mortality, and the shortening of the axons of neurons. One way to improve hippocampus cellular respons is to  increase the levels of glutathione and theconcentration of glutathione precursor. One compound that provides glutathione precursors is alanine-glutamine dipeptide. This research was designed to obtain the improve of hippocampus cellular responsresult from the administration of 7% alanine-glutamine dipeptide concentration of aged or oxidative-stressed rats. The improvement of hippocampus cellular respons affect  the improvement of the hippocampus function. The experimental rats were assigned into a completely randomized design consisted of threefactors with 2x2x2 factorial arrangement. The first factor was the age of the experimental rats, consistedof two levels i.e., 12 and 24 months. The second factor was oxidative stress consisted of two levels, i.e.,without and with oxidative stress. The third factor was alanine-glutamine dipeptide administrationconsisted of 2 concentrations, i.e. 0% and 7%. The results showed that  administration of 7% alanine-glutamine dipeptide improved level of glutathione in the hippocampus either in younger (58,76%) or aged(125,81%) rats or in normal (76,47%) and in oxidative-stressed rats (97,26%). These antioxidant hadmediated the respons improve viability, mortality, and long axons responses of neurons at younger (4,11%,37,07%, and 12,58%) or aged (6,91%, 37,85%, and 32,84%) rats, in normal (3,25%, 29,21%, and 21,04%)and oxidative stress (7,80%, 43,01%, dan 25,56%) rats. This research concluded that the alanine-glutaminedipeptide 7% increased glutathione levels.  This increased level affected the improvement of cellularresponds in aging hippocampus, physiological aging, or aging due to oxidative stress in rats.

Abstract

In Indonesia including Bali island until now, a lot of Etawah Goat Crossbred raised by farmers. Inthe island, there was  lots of  agriculture by products available which were not much used yet for animalfeed. There is an opportunity the product were supplemented with Optizym enzyme to  feed the animal. The enzyme was a cellulotic one. The objective of this experiment was to study hematology (packaged cellvolume, hemoglobin, erythrocytes, leukocytes, neutrophil, lymphocyte, monocyte, eosinophil, sedimentationrate) and clinical chemistry of blood (creatinine, urea, serum glutamic piruvat transaminase, serum glutamicoxaloacetic transaminase, glucose, and cholesterol). The experiment was conducted for 2 months at Bukit-Jimbaran, Badung, Bali. Measurements were conducted  on the packaged cell volume with the method ofmicrohematocrite, hemoglobin with the method of Hematin (Hemoglobinometer or Hemometer Sahli),erythrocytes and leukocytes with the method of Hemocytometer (improved Neubaeur), differential ofleukocytes (neutrophil, lymphocyte, monocyte, eosinophil) with the method of slide; and blood sedimentationrate with the method of Westergreen, while measurements of the creatinine, urea, serum glutamic piruvattransaminase, serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase, glucose, and cholesterol were conducted with Reflotron Plus modified Reflovet Plus (Roch).Data were analyzed with Analysis of Variance. Results ofthe experiment showed that supplementation of the optizym for 0,25 kg and 0,50 kg in every 100 kg basaldiet of agriculture by products (unconventional) were not increased significantly on the packaged cellvolume, hemoglobin, total erythrocytes, total leucocytes, neuthrophil, lymposite, monocyte and the samething was also occurred on serum glutamic piruvat transaminase, serum glutamic oxaloacetictransaminase, glucose, and cholesterol of the animals (P > 0.05) compared to the untreated one; while therest (blood sedimentation rate, creatinine, and urea) were on the other way around (P < 0.05). However, they were not affected their performances. The animals still look healthy.  It can be concluded that thesupplementation of the optizym in this case was no effect to hematology and clinical chemistry of blood.

Abstract

The aim of study was to identify  Myxobolus sp. obtained from the gills of carp (Cyprinus carpio) ofEast Java, Indonesia. The cysts containing spores were collected from the gills of carp fish. The spores wereexamined by wet mounts preparation, fixed with ethanol absolute solution for molecular analysis. Thespores had a transparent membrane, the shell, composed of two valves. The sutural ridge running betweenthe valves. It was two anterior polar capsules, each consisted of a coiled polar filament. An iodinophilicvacuole and sporoplasm nuclei was located in posterior part. DNA Sequenses 18S rDNA followed byphylogenetic tree demonstrated that Myxobolus sp from Blitar was different from Myxosoma cerebralis ofthe Gene Bank. Myxosoma cerebralis was not found  in the fresh water fish in Indonesia.
