Jurnal Gantang is a peer-reviewed journal. Jurnal Gantang is published two numbers per year by Raja Ali Haji Maritime University, Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands, Indonesia. The articles written for Jurnal Gantang are state-of-the-art research articles in the field of Mathematics Education. Starting in 2022, Jurnal Gantang will be published in May and November twice a year. Jurnal Gantang publishes scientific writings on the results of thoughts, very carefully selected literature studies, and research in the field of Mathematics Education. Jurnal Gantang is a journal with a blind review system that is an essential aspect of disseminating knowledge. The realization of a scientific approach can be supported by writing the results of a blind review. Kesenian Marawis merupakan budaya Nusantara yang bernuansa religi. Kesenian ini berkembang di beberapa daerah di Indonesia, salah satunya di Provinsi Kepulauan Riau. Pada kesenian Marawis terdapat indikasi adanya praktek matematis terutama pada corak alat musiknya. Praktek matematis dalam budaya dikenal dengan etnomatematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan hasil eksplorasi etnomatematika pada corak alat musik kesenian Marawis Provinsi Kepulauan Riau yang dapat dijadikan sebagai sumber belajar matematika. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Sumber data merupakan anggota tim Marawis Sekolah Mengengah Kejuruan Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang dan alat musik marawis. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi dengan instrumen utama penelitian adalah peneliti sendiri. Kemudian data dianalisis dengan mengacu pada rancangan Miles and Huberman dengan mereduksi data, penyajian data, serta kesimpulan/verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menemukan adanya praktik matematis berupa bangun geometri yaitu bidang datar dan konsep matematika yang meliputi konsep translasi, refleksi, simetri lipat, simetri putar, sudut lancip dan tumpul, serta bidang lingkaran.

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis kualitas perangkat dan keterampilan mengajar dengan menggunakan analisis Model Rasch. Penelitian dengan pendekatan kualitatif bersifat deskriptif ini dilakukan pada subjek penelitian mahasiswa semester V tahun akademik 2017/2018 Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika FKIP Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji pada mata kuliah Micro Teaching. Data yang digunakan berjenis primer/langsung yang diperoleh melalui teknik penugasan berupa perangkat pembelajaran yang terdiri atas silabus mini, Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) mini, dan media pembelajaran. Data berikutnya diperoleh melalui observasi pada aspek keterampilan mengajar yang merupakan tolok ukur dalam proses pembelajaran. Kemudian dilakukan penilaian terhadap kedua sumber data tersebut dengan menggunakan instrumen lembar penilaian perangkat dan keterampilan mengajar yang memuat indikator-indikator terkait dengan teknik rating scale sehingga menghasilkan data ordinal. Data mentah dari kedua sumber diolah dan dianalisis menggunakan Model Rasch dengan software Ministep. Analisis yang dilakukan adalah person measure, item measure, dan person map item. Hasil analisis dipaparkan dengan teknik deskriptif kualitatif guna menggambarkan kualitas perangkat dan keterampilan mengajar. Hasil analisis perangkat diperoleh bahwa kualitas rata-rata perangkat pembelajaran disusun oleh mahasiswa berada di atas rata-rata taraf kualitas standar perangkat. Terdapat 71% dari total mahasiswa yang memiliki kualitas setiap item pada perangkat di atas rata-rata standar. Hasil analisis pada aspek mengajar diperoleh kualitas rata-rata mengajar mahasiswa lebih tinggi dari rata-rata taraf kualitas mengajar standar. Terdapat sekitar 46,4% dari total mahasiswa yang memiliki kualitas mengajar setiap itemnya berada di atas kualitas rata-rata.

This research is qualitative research with the aim of (1) to find out the description of mathematical communication skills of male and female students in solving mathematical problem solving questions, (2) to find out different information about mathematical communication descriptions in solving problem solving problems in terms of gender. The subjects of this study were two class VII students of SMP Negeri 2 Labakkang, namely one male and one female student who had the highest problem solving test scores. The procedure of data collection is done by observation, tests of problem solving and interviews. The research instrument was used in the form of observation sheets, tests of problem solving, interview guidelines. Data analysis techniques are carried out by testing credibility, transferbility, dependability, and conformability. The results showed that the mathematical communication skills of male gender subjects were lower than those of female gender subjects. The location of differences in mathematical communication skills between male and female gender is that the indicators write answers according to the purpose of the problem and make conclusions in writing using their own language.

This study is the descriptive research that aims to determine student learning activities when applied MEAs approach and learning outcomes after applied MEAs with subject relation and function. The subjects were students of class VIIID junior high school number 1 Indralaya Utara, amounting to 32 students. The data were collected using observation dan test and analyzed descriptively. The research result to shows the implementation of student learning on the MEAs approach included in the good category. From result learning get 29% students included in the very active category, 19% students included in active category and 26% students included in quite an active category while students learning outcomes included pretty good when 7% students included in very good category, 33% students included in good category and 40% students included in pretty good category, with an average value is 66,1.

This study aims to examine the increase in student’s mathematical conceptual understanding ability using differential equation teaching materials using Guided Discovery assisted by Mathematica software. This study is a quasi-experimental with pretest posttest Control Group Design. The research subjects were the sixth semester students of Mathematics Education Study Program, Muhammadiyah University of Tangerang, with a sample of as many as two classes selected by simple random sampling technique. The experimental class uses differential equation teaching materials with the Guided Discovery method assisted by Mathematica software and the control class using ordinary teaching materials. The results of the study showed that an increase in mathematical conceptual understanding ability of the experimental class was higher than the control class. The average normalized gain of students in the experimental class is in the high and medium categories. While the control class is in the medium and low category. The normalized gain difference in the experimental class is better than the control class.

Rendahnya Kemampuan Koneksi Matematis (KKnM) siswa merupakan permasalahan utama penelitian. Permasalahan di lapangan siswa kurang mampu mengkoneksiakan konsep/ide matematika dalam pemecahan masalah matematis. Dengan demikian perlu suatu pendekatan pembelajaran yang memacu siswa untuk menyelesaikan masalah dengan feleksibel yaitu pembelajaran dengan pendekatan open-ended. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan KKnM siswa SMP melalui pendekatan open-ended. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut dilakukan penelitian eksperimen semu dengan rancagan Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan. Sampel yang dipilih adalah kelas VII-5 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan siswa kelas VII-6 sebagai kelas kontrol. Penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan hasil melalui uji independen sampel t-tes diperoleh signifikansi hasil pretest dan posttest sebesar 0,004 yang berarti terdapat perbedaan rata-tara antara KKnM siswa kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol. Selanjutnya melalui uji N-gain diperoleh nilai rata-tara N-gain kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,48 yang berarti nilai peningkatan berada pada kategori sedang dan pada kelas kontrol diperoleh nilai N-gain sebasar 0,28 yang berarti berada pada kategori rendah. Dengan demikian disimpulkan bahwa KKnM siswa melalui pendekatan open-ended berbeda secara signifikan dengan KKnM siswa dengan pendekatan konvensional dan KKnM siswa yang diberi pembelajaran dengan pendekatan open-ended lebih baik dari pada KKnM siswa dengan pendekatan konvensional.

. This research was conducted at the University of Muhammadiyah Tangerang on the academic year 2018-2019 Mathematics Education study program. The purpose of this research was to develop learning videos with videoscribe sparkoll application. The methods used od this research were Research and Development (R&D). The stages used are field observation, data collection, product design, expert validation, product revision, small class trials, data analysis, and final products. based on the results of the validation of the experts by getting eligible criteria for each criterion namely 78% and 78.7% and the results of small-scale trials by getting a positive response and eligible criteria which is 75.5%.

The purpose of this study is to produce a Junior Mathematics worksheet based on metaconigration approach to improve students' HOTS with valid, practical and effective. This research is a development research using Plomp model. The results of this study are metacognition-based worksheets a) valid from the aspects of content, construct, language, and graphic, b) practical aspects of usage, time and readability, and c) effective aspects to improve the HOTS ability of students.

This research aims to describe competence level and competence hierarchy on indicators developed by 23 middle schools teacher from South Sumatera Province, using indicator and objectives references to Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy and National Standard of Education. The result suggest that the competence levels are overlapping at the indicators and the developed indicators are limited to minimal competence of learning standards.

This study aims to describe the thinking ability of class X MIA 2 of SMA Negeri 2 Tanjungpinang in solving functional problems. research subjects A total of 40 students who have received material before function. Instrument for the assessment of students higher-order thinking skills, consisting of 10 questions. Data were analyzed using the average method as an explanation of students higher-order thinking skills. Considering the high level of students in terms of high-level thinking ability indicators, namely analyzing, understanding and creating. The results obtained are the average analysis indicator obtained is 47.85 with enough categories, the indicator analyzes with an average of 12.50 categories is very less.
