Abstract

Culture-based education in sociology learning significantly impacts students' understanding of social diversity. Integrating cultural values in the curriculum raises students' awareness of the diversity of society, broadening their view of social reality. This research explores how a culture-based approach in sociology education can enhance students' understanding and attitudes toward social diversity and tolerance. This research used the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) was used as the established procedure. The study found that implementing Culture-Based Education in sociology learning significantly impacts students' understanding of social diversity. Although there are challenges in implementing the Culture-Based Education approach, they can be overcome through holistic efforts. The impact of Culture-Based Education on the development of students' social, critical, and analytical skills is very positive. The expansion of social skills through cross-cultural interactions, the improvement of critical thinking skills, the development of social analytical skills, the linking of sociological concepts with social contexts, and the formation of critical and tolerant attitudes are all aspects that enrich students' learning experiences. This research emphasizes the importance of integrating cultural values into the curriculum to enhance students' understanding of social diversity and their ability to navigate multicultural environments. It calls on educational institutions to adopt and improve culture-based approaches. Additionally, it highlights the need to address implementation challenges and to continuously evaluate and adapt practices to foster the development of socially aware and culturally competent students.

Abstract

This research aims to develop Virtual Field Trip (VFT) learning media to increase students' learning motivation regarding natural resource use in 8th grade. This media was developed using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The development of 360-degree panoramic image-based VFT media is expected to overcome the limitations of conventional learning. The study was conducted on 32 8th-grade students at SMPN 7 Malang using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The analysis showed a significant increase in students' learning motivation, with the average pretest score increasing from 59 to 80.2 in the posttest. The t-test showed a significant value of 0.000, meaning that VFT media significantly affects learning motivation. These media have been proven to grab students' attention, facilitate understanding of the material, and provide a contextualized learning experience. Although there are barriers, such as the need for Internet connectivity and devices, the results of this study underscore the importance of innovation in learning media to increase student engagement.

Abstract

Implementing the Merdeka curriculum has impacted changes in several documents, including learning tools, one of which is a lesson plan. In its development, there are still many teachers who experience difficulties. This research aims to analyze the problems and causal factors experienced by social studies teachers in preparing RPP for the Merdeka curriculum for junior high schools in Batu City. The research method used in this study is qualitative descriptive, involving as many as 13 teachers, and data was obtained in the form of interviews. The research data was obtained from non-participatory observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The study results show that teacher problems are found, namely the principles of preparing lesson plans, determining initial competencies, determining the profile of Pancasila students, determining learning outcomes, determining learning objectives, determining triggering questions, designing learning activities, and making learning assessments. Then, the factors that cause the problem are that teachers do not understand the changes in the Merdeka curriculum, the components of the lesson plan are different from the previous learning design, the teacher's competence in developing the lesson plan is relatively low, and the mastery of technology is lacking. The results of this study recommend that stakeholders in schools and the Batu City education office improve teachers' understanding and competence through training and workshops regarding the development of lesson plans that follow the Merdeka curriculum.

Abstract

Learning has now transformed dynamically through the application of technology. This study seeks to determine whether blended learning is an alternative method to support current technological developments. The aim is to analyze the application of blended learning to support the advancement of education through technology. Blended learning will support effective and efficient learning while still paying attention to students' cognitive and critical thinking. This study uses experimental quantitative methods. The researcher developed 15 custom-made questionnaires to be responded to by 20 teachers. Based on the questionnaires, the validity and reliability of blended learning effectiveness were analyzed with SPSS software. The results showed that the questionnaire was valid and reliable, and the fifteen questionnaires analyzed achieved high scores for implementing blended learning. The implications of this research can become a learning option that applies technology so that it is dynamic and supports the digitalization of education.

Abstract

This study compares the environmental awareness character of elementary school students in the Kahayan River Basin, Central Kalimantan Province, who live in rural and urban areas. It is a quantitative study using survey data collection methods. The survey was conducted on 60 students: 30 students from SDN Bukit Rawi 1, located in a rural area, and 30 students from SDN Percobaan Palangka Raya, in an urban area. The survey used a questionnaire containing 20 statements with five answer options, using a Likert scale. The collected data is then analyzed using descriptive percentage analysis. The results showed that students living in rural areas of the Kahayan River Basin had better environmental awareness than those living in urban areas. The majority, 70 percent of rural students, demonstrated "Very Good" ecological awareness, while the majority, 73 percent, of urban students, showed "Good" environmental awareness (one level below "Very Good"). Furthermore, rural students had an average score of 90.59 (Very Good), compared to urban students with an average score of 84.30 (Good). The researchers suggest further studies on the factors influencing students' environmental awareness and the development of products/programs to enhance environmental awareness among students in the Kahayan River Basin.
