Abstract

In particular, this research aimed to understand the educational portrait and training of cartoon art in the city of Semarang. Cartoon was part of a creative space that facilitates individuals who have an interest in cartoon creations. The existence of cartoon class in Indonesia is still not popular still like in Turkey, Iran, and Belgium. However, the Indonesian Gold Pencil Foundation is a space of cartoon artist in Indonesia, especially in Semarang city. This method applied of research qualitative. Research instruments included structured interview guidelines, deep observations, and documentation. The results of this study comprised the development of cartoon education in Semarang City is becoming new phenomenon, especially for students in elementary education, junior high school, and senior high school. The cartoon education in the city of Semarang was as a unique interest for some students, because it was able to develop their creativity and interest in animation. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami potret edukasi dan pelatihan seni kartun di Kota Semarang. Seni menggambar kartun merupakan bagian dari ruang kreatif dalam memfasilitasi individu yang memiliki minat pada kreasi kartun. Keberadaan kelas kartun di Indonesia masih belum populer masih seperti di Negara Turki, Iran, dan Belgia. Namun, Yayasan Pensil Emas Indonesia merupakan ruang bagi seniman kartun di Indonesia, khususnya di Kota Semarang. Metode penelitian adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Instrumen penelitian mencakup pedoman wawancara terstruktur, pengamatan mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah gambaran komprehensif pendidikan menggambar kartun di Kota Semarang, terutama bagi siswa di bidang pendidikan dasar, SMP, dan SMA. Pendidikan kartun di Kota Semarang ini sebagai minat unik bagi sebagian siswa, karena mampu mengembangkan kreativitas dan minat mereka terhadap animasi.

Abstract

This study investigated teachers’ intention to use electronic media; and teachers’ intention to use electronic media based on gender, experience and qualification. The study was a descriptive type, 280 randomly selected teachers adequately responded to the questionnaire. Mean scores and t-test were used to for the data analysis. The study revealed that teachers had positive intention to use electronic media. There was significant difference between male and female teachers’ intention to use electronic media for teaching with p=0.02; and There was no significant difference between qualified and less qualified as well experienced and less-experienced teachers’ intention to use electronic media for teaching. The study concluded that the society has embraced electronic devices and relies much on it for socio economic pursuit, The study thus recommended that directorate of command secondary schools should imbibe the use of motivational strategies for staff in the application of electronic media in the teaching. Abstrak Penelitian ini menelisik kecenderungan guru dalam menggunakan media elektronik; termasuk dilihat dari jenis kelamin, pengalaman dan kualifikasi mereka. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif, 280 guru yang dipilih secara acak untuk mengisi kuesioner. Nilai rata-rata dan uji-t digunakan untuk analisis data. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa guru memiliki kecenderungan positif untuk menggunakan media elektronik. Ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara niat guru laki-laki dan perempuan untuk menggunakan media elektronik untuk mengajar dengan p=0,02. Di sisi lain, tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kecenderungan guru yang berkualitas dan kurang berpengalaman serta kurang berpengalaman dalam menggunakan media elektronik untuk mengajar. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa masyarakat pada dasarnya telah familier dan sangat menggantungkan aktivitasnya dengan perangkat elektronik untuk keperluan ekonomi. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini merekomendasikan bahwa direktorat komando sekolah menengah harus mengakomodasi penggunaan strategi motivasi bagi staf dalam penerapan media elektronik dalam pengajaran.

Abstract

The emergence and wrong use of social media coupled with the lack of initiative for an acceptable learning strategy are factors for poor academic performance. Self-regulated learning improves academic performance, but there is a paucity of research on social media addiction, learning strategies and self-regulated learning. This study examined the role of social media addiction and learning strategy in undergraduates' self-regulated learning. Three hundred and fifty (350) participants conveniently sampled across four (4) universities in Nigeria responded to a structured questionnaire consisting of scales measuring variables of interest. Using Analysis of Variance and Independent T-test analyses, results showed that learning strategy and social media addiction have significant influence on self-regulated learning while gender had no significant influence on self-regulated learning. It is therefore concluded that social media addiction and learning strategy are determinants of self-regulated learning, and impacts on the academic performance of undergraduate students. Abstrak Kehadiran dan kesalahan penggunaan media sosial ditambah kurangnya inisiatif untuk strategi pembelajaran yang dapat diterima adalah faktor-faktor penyebab buruknya capaian pembelajaran. Pembelajaran mandiri memang mampu meningkatkan capaian akademik, tetapi tidak banyak penelitian terkait dengan kecanduan media sosial, strategi pembelajaran, dan pembelajaran mandiri. Penelitian ini mengkaji peran kecanduan media sosial dan strategi belajar mandiri mahasiswa. Responden penelitian ini sebanyak tiga ratus lima puluh (350) dari empat (4) universitas di Nigeria, dan semuanya merespon kuesioner terstruktur yang berupa skala ukur terhadap variabal ketertarikan. Dengan menggunakan analisis varian dan independent T-test, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi pembelajaran dan adiksi media sosial berpengaruh signifikan terhadap self-regulated learning, sedangkan gender tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap self-regulated learning. Oleh karena itu disimpulkan bahwa kecanduan media sosial dan strategi pembelajaran merupakan faktor penentu pembelajaran mandiri dan berdampak pada capaian pembelajaran mahasiswa.

Abstract

The dominant nature of Western models of teacher education in African universities has become a subject of great concern. Research reveals that teacher education curriculum models in such universities are either a wholesale importation or partial duplication of some of the dominant models of teacher preparation especially the Teachers College, Columbia and University of Wisconsin, Madison models. Accordingly, such curricula are ostensibly non-African in nature. Consequently, there is a clamour for an African indigenous model with potential to produce African-based teachers for Africa and its Diaspora. This study which has Indigenous Knowledge as its theoretical basis attempts to formulate university-based Afrocentric teacher education curriculum. The study employs a multiplicity of methods comprising curriculum criticism, the historical method, the analytic method, and creative synthesis. Its significance lies in its potential to contribute to the promotion of the African identity through ideologically independent teachers for ultimate implementation of school curricula in Africa. Abstrak Dominasi pendidikan keguruan model Barat di universitas-universitas Afrika telah menjadi perhatian yang besar. Beberapa penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa model-model pengembangan kurikulum pendidikan keguruan sepenuhnya merupakan impor atau duplikasi dari model beberapa model dominan persiapan calon guru, terutama Teachers College, Columbia dan universitas Wisconsin, Madison. Dengan demikian, kurikulum yang dijalankan seolah-olah tidak kontekstual Afrika. Akibatnya, muncul tuntutan lahirnya model asli Afrika yang potensial menghasilkan guru-guru berbasis Afrika untuk Afrika dan diasporanya. Kajian ini menggunakan pengetahuan pribumi sebagai basis teoretik untuk mengembangkan kurikulum pendidikan keguruan berbasis universitas yang menempatkan nuansa dan konteks Afrika sebagai fokus utama. Kajian ini menggunakan beragam metode, antara lain kritik kurikulum, telaah sejarah, metode analitik, dan sintesis kreatif. Signifikansi kajian ini terlatak pada potensinya berkontribusi bagi promosi identitas Afrika melalui guru-guru yang secara ideologis independent untuk mengimplementasikan kurikulum sekolah-sekolah di Afrika secara optimal.

Abstract

More recently technology has opened up variety fortune doors in the education sector. Therefore, technology has become one of the important parts in the teaching and learning process. One of the technology tools may have enhanced the process is IWBs. This paper focuses on the significance of the interactive whiteboard to enhance the learning process by supporting different learners. Hence, this research used qualitative approach by using observation and interview methods. The data was collected at two private universities. 105 learners were observed, 15 students interviewed and 7 teachers questioned. The results illustrated that IWBs have significant impact to support different learning styles and increases the level of engagement. Abstrak Sekarang teknologi telah membuka banyak pintu peluang perubahan di dunia Pendidikan. Oleh karena itu, teknologi menjadi bagian yang sangat penting dalam proses belajar-mengajar. Satu jenis teknologi agaknya terkait dengan hal ini adalah papan tulis interaktif. Artikel ini focus pada signifikansi papan tulis interaktif dalam meningkatkan kualitas proses pembelajaran sebagai cara memfasilitasi belajar siswa. Data penelitian diambil dari dua universitas swasta, observasi dilakukan terhadap 105 mahasiswa, sebanyak 15 mahasiswa dan 7 guru diwawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bawah papan tulis interaktif memiliki dampak signifikan dalam menunjang berbagai ragam gaya belajar mahasiswa dan juga meningkatkan level keterlibatan mahasiswa.

Abstract

This research is conducted to investigate the contrasting theories in the curriculum of choice for educating refugee children and the perception of participants in related to the implemented curriculum for educating primary school children in Jewi refugee camp. Interview, document analysis, and observation are the data collecting tools used in this research. The research is a qualitative single case study. Students, teachers, school leaders, parents, and concerned officials from governmental and non-governmental institutions took part in this study. The results of this research noted that the curriculum implemented in the education for refugee children has a gap in considering previous educational background of refugee children, the impact of the crisis on them, and their future life in home, host, or third country. Adopting the host country curriculum is seen to be subjected for frequent students and parental complain especially on history, geography, language, and civics subjects. With this understanding adopting a negotiated curriculum between home and host country is identified to be relevant. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan teoretis dalam pilihan kurikulum yang diperuntukkan bagi anak-anak pengungsi dan persepsi partisipan terkait dengan implementasi kurikulum, terutama di sekolah dasar di kamp pengungsian Jewi. Penggalian data menggunakan wawancara, penelusuran dokumen, dan observasi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian studi kasus tunggal yang melibatkan siswa, guru, pimpinan sekolah, orang tua, dan pejabat pemerintah maupun non-pemerintah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan kurikulum untuk anak-anak di pengungsian terdapat kesenjangan, antara lain terkait dengan latar Pendidikan mereka, imbas krisis pada kehidupan mereka, termasuk tempat tinggal mereka yang akan datang, baik tempat tinggal sendiri maupun di negara lain. Mengadopsi kurikulum yang berasal dari negara tempat anak-anak pengungsi tinggal tampaknya merupakan pilihan dari banyak anak dan juga menjadi sasaran kritik, terutama terkait materi sejarah, geografi, Bahasa, dan kewarganegaraan. Oleh karena itu, mengadopsi kurikulum yang mampu menegosiasikan antara materi dari negara asal dan negara tempat tinggal tampak relevan dipilih.

Abstract

Studying curriculum is challenging, especially for the undergraduate students. Moreover, in Indonesian context, in which curriculum is underdeveloped as a discipline or field of studies, looking for the comprehensive book to encounter the students to comprehend the broad range of curriculum as a field of studies and practice of policy making is difficult. According to my experience as lecturer who teach curriculum theory for undergraduate students, I found that most local publications on curriculum were lack of foundational explanation. Of course, this situation disadvantaging the students, because to be curriculum experts or practitioners, they need comprehensive understanding about the very foundation of the curriculum as a field of studies and policy making practices. Through this book review I propose the work of Ornstein and Hunkins (2018) as one of the must-read books for the novice students who eager to study curriculum. Their work encompassing many topics, ranging from its foundations, theories, practices, and current issues of the curriculum. This magnificent book divided into three parts. First part focusing on the foundations of curriculum, such as its philosophical, historical, psychological, and social foundations. Second part elucidating several principles of curriculum, for instances about curriculum design, curriculum development, curriculum implementation, and curriculum evaluation principles. Third part discussing the current issues on curriculum, especially in terms of international relation and unstoppable move of the globalization.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji perbedaan hasil belajar matematika dan motivasi belajar siswa yang belajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif handep dan tipe STAD. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas tujuh VII SMPN-1 Palangkaraya. Hipotesis penelitian diuji dengan uji-t dan uji U Mann-Whitney pada taraf kepercayaan 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (a) hasil belajar matematika siswa yang belajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif handep lebih tinggi dari STAD, dan (b) tidak ada perbedaan motivasi belajar pada siswa yang belajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif handep dan STAD.This study purpose examined the differences in mathematics learning outcomes and students' motivation to learn the cooperative learning model handep and STAD. The samples is seventh grade students of SMPN-1 Palangkaraya. The research hypotheses were tested by t-test and Mann-Whitney test. The research results are (a) the learning outcomes of students who are learning mathematics with cooperative learning model handep higher than STAD, and (b) there was no difference in the students' motivation to learn in cooperative learning model handep higher than STAD.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan, menguji validitas, dan me-nguji kepraktisan media blended learning berbasis edmodo pada mata pela-jaran KKPI kelas XI di SMK N 2 Purwodadi. Metode penelitian menggunakan research and development model 4D. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI TITL 1 yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data di-lakukan menggunakan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa(1) me-dia blended learning berbasis edmodo dikembangkan dalam bentuk video si-mulasi dan kelas maya di edmodo; (2) media blended learning berbasis edmo-do valid ditinjau dari karakteristik media dan materi pembelajaran online; dan (3) media blended learning berbasis edmodo bersifat praktis ditinjau dari respon pengguna terhadap fitur sistem edmodo. The purpose of this research is to develop, to examine the validity, and to examine the practicability of blended learning media based on edmodo for KKPI learning in class XI SMK N 2 Purwodadi. The research method uses research and development with 4D model. The sample of this research is the students of XI TITL 1 who are selected by purposive sampling technique. Data is collected by using questionnaire. The results show that (1) blended learning media based on edmodo is developed into simulation video and virtual class in edmodo; (2) blended learning media based on edmodo is valid in terms of the characteristics of media and online learning materials; (3) blended learning media based on edmodo is practical in terms of users’ response for the feature system of edmodo.

Abstract

Tujuan penulisan artikel ini adalah untuk memberikan gambaran akan keragaman Profesi seorang Teknolog Pendidikan di Indonesia saat ini. Untuk memberikan gambaran yang mendalam, maka artikel ini ditulis berdasarkan kajian teoritisTeknologi Pendidikan sebagai profesi, kompetensi profesi Teknologi Pendidikantahun 1977, kompetensi tahun 1994 dan kompetensi 2012, serta menghadirkan data-data ragam Profesi Teknologi Pendidikan di Lapangan Pekerjaan. Dengan melihat konsepsi dasar Teknologi Pendidikan Dan perkembangan lapangan kerjasaat ini, maka masih akan banyak profesi-profesi Teknologi Pendidikan baru yang Akan muncul baik di Indonesia atau luar negeri dan lapangan pekerjaanpun akansegera menggunakan para alumni sebagai profesi di instansinya. Untuk menghadapi hal ini, sebagai sebuah profesi, keilmuan Teknologi Pendidikan harus dapat mengantisipasinya dalam sebuah ketentuan yang lebih sistematis dan sistemik, sehingga dapat menaungi para profesi dalam bidang Teknologi Pendidikan. The purpose of writing this article is to illustrate the diversity profession of a Educational technologist in Indonesia today. To provide an in-depth illustrations, this article was written based on theoretical study of Educational Technology as a profession, the competence of Education Technology profession deffinitions in 1977, 1994 and 2012 also representing the data of Variety of Educational Technology’s in the field. By looking at the basic conception of Educational Technology and the current employment development, there will still be many new Education Technology professions that will emerge in Indonesia or abroad and employment will soon use the alumni as a profession in their institution. To face this, as a profession, the science of Educational Technology should be able to anticipate it in a more systematic and systemic provision, so that it can cover the Educational Technology professions in the field.
