Abstract

This study analyzes the development of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) research from 2000 to 2025 using a bibliometric approach based on Scopus-indexed publications. Through this analysis, the study maps the dynamics of scientific production, including publication trends, leading authors, institutions, countries, influential journals, as well as thematic patterns and collaboration networks within qualitative IRE research. A total of 1,023 articles were examined using VOSviewer and the Bibliometrix R-package to generate visualizations of knowledge structures, author collaborations, and keyword evolution. The findings reveal a substantial increase in publication volume during the last decade, accompanied by a methodological transition from normative–doctrinal approaches to phenomenological, interpretive, and ethnographic frameworks. Dominant research themes include religious moderation, character education, and the integration of Islamic values in pedagogical practices. Indonesia, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia emerge as the major contributors to qualitative IRE literature, reflecting their strong academic engagement in the field. The novelty of this study lies in its comprehensive quantitative and visual mapping of the scientific landscape of IRE, offering the first systematic overview of how qualitative methodologies in IRE have evolved over the past 25 years. The main contribution of this research is the provision of a bibliometric map that can guide future research agendas, support the development of methodology-focused curricula, and strengthen international academic collaboration in Islamic education. The findings also carry practical implications for policymakers, offering evidence-based insights for designing initiatives that promote quality enhancement in Islamic education research and practice.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of transformational leadership of the school principal in developing the Adiwiyata (eco-school) program at SMP Negeri 1 Gabus, Grobogan Regency. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students as key informants. Data were analyzed using an interactive model that includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing to reveal how transformational leadership dimensions contribute to environmental education and school sustainability. The findings indicate that the principal’s transformational leadership plays a crucial role in realizing an environmentally conscious school culture. Through idealized influence, the principal becomes a role model who embodies environmental values and integrates them into the school’s vision and policy. Inspirational motivation fosters collective enthusiasm and active participation of teachers and students in environmental programs. Intellectual stimulation encourages creativity and innovation through initiatives such as digital waste banks and eco-brick projects. Meanwhile, individualized consideration is reflected in personalized guidance and empowerment that enhance teachers’ confidence and engagement. Overall, transformational leadership has significantly strengthened environmental policy, increased school-wide participation, and shaped sustainable ecological behavior. The study provides new empirical evidence that transformational leadership effectively drives cultural transformation toward green, participatory, and innovative school management.

Abstract

21st-century learning demands strengthening the character and psychological well-being of students from elementary school. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is seen as a strategic approach relevant to the Pancasila Student Profile while addressing students' social-emotional challenges in the digital era. This study aims to measure the influence of SEL on students' character and psychological well-being, describe its implementation practices in schools, and formulate effective optimization strategies. The study used mixed methods with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were obtained through questionnaires from 180 students, analyzed statistically, and then strengthened by interviews, observations, and document studies. The results of the quantitative analysis showed an average score of student character M=3.27 (SD=0.33), psychological well-being M=3.15 (SD=0.35), and SEL M=3.20 (SD=0.40) on a scale of 1–4, all in the high category. Qualitative data confirmed that SEL practices are beginning to appear in learning despite still being hampered by teacher understanding and school support. These findings can be applied by teachers to integrate SEL into daily learning, enrich the theory on the relationship between SEL and character and psychological well-being in the elementary school context, and open up opportunities for further research related to long-term SEL implementation and evaluation strategies.

Abstract

This study investigates the mediating role of job satisfaction in the relationship between Quality of Work Life (QWL) and work motivation on turnover intention among millennial lecturers in Islamic higher education institutions, specifically within Muhammadiyah universities in the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area. Using a quantitative explanatory design, data were collected from 290 lecturers through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach. The results reveal that both QWL and motivation have a significant positive impact on job satisfaction, while job satisfaction exerts a significant negative effect on turnover intention. Moreover, job satisfaction partially mediates the effects of QWL and motivation on turnover intention, indicating that a high-quality work environment and strong intrinsic motivation enhance satisfaction, which subsequently reduces the desire to leave. The findings highlight that improving QWL through supportive leadership, fair compensation, and work–life balance, as well as fostering motivation through recognition and professional growth opportunities, can strengthen lecturers’ commitment and retention. The study contributes theoretically by integrating Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory and Social Exchange Theory within an Islamic management perspective, demonstrating that human resource practices rooted in ethical and spiritual values effectively sustain institutional stability. Practically, the results provide strategic insights for higher education policymakers to design adaptive and value-based HR frameworks that meet the professional and generational expectations of millennial lecturers in Islamic universities

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of employee engagement, employee communication, attitude, transformational leadership, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Learning on Sustainable Human Resource Management (Sustainable HRM), with employee performance serving as a mediating variable. This research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. The research population consists of managerial-level employees (leaders to managers) from companies in West Java who participated in training programs conducted by Job Training Institute (LPK) “X”. A total of 360 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results indicate that employee engagement, employee communication, transformational leadership, and NLP Learning have a positive and significant effect on employee performance, while attitude does not have a significant effect on employee performance. Furthermore, employee performance is found to have a positive and significant effect on Sustainable HRM. Mediation analysis reveals that employee performance partially mediates the relationship between employee engagement, transformational leadership, and NLP Learning and Sustainable HRM. However, employee performance does not significantly mediate the effects of employee communication and attitude on Sustainable HRM. These findings highlight that the achievement of Sustainable HRM is not solely determined by individual and organizational practices directly, but is strongly influenced by the organization’s ability to enhance employee performance as a key mediating mechanism. This study contributes theoretically by reinforcing the role of employee performance as a mediator in the Sustainable HRM framework and by introducing NLP Learning as a relevant human resource development approach in the Indonesian organizational context. Practically, the findings provide insights for organizations and job training institutions in designing performance-oriented and sustainability-driven human resource development strategies.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills remain an urgent necessity in mathematics education, particularly in 21st-century learning contexts. Conventional teaching practices have proven insufficient in promoting these skills, requiring innovative approaches that integrate technology and culture. This study examines the effectiveness and practicality of mathematics learning integrating Ethnomathematics, Augmented Reality (AR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Deep Learning (DL).Employing a mixed-method design with sequential explanatory approach, the research involved junior high school students in Purworejo, Indonesia. The quantitative phase applied a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design to measure critical thinking improvement, while the qualitative phase explored teachers' and students' perceptions through interviews, observations, and response questionnaires. Quantitative results showed a significant increase in students' critical thinking ability (t = 4.126, p < 0.05) with an N-Gain score of 73%, categorized as high. Qualitative findings revealed positive responses: teachers considered the model innovative, feasible, and aligned with curriculum goals, while students reported higher engagement, clearer understanding of abstract concepts, and stronger motivation to learn mathematics. The integration proved most effective in enhancing interpretation and evaluation skills among critical thinking components. The integration of Ethnomathematics, AR, AI, and DL proved both effective and practical in fostering critical thinking. These findings demonstrate the potential of culture-based learning combined with advanced technological support to prepare students for future challenges.
