Abstract

This study analyzes the strengthening of participatory citizenship skills among Generation Z students in the digital age, with a particular focus on their abilities to engage with public issues, monitor policies, and influence political processes. Using a qualitative approach with 150 participants, data were collected through open-ended questionnaire-based interviews and analyzed using thematic techniques. The research findings indicate that although students demonstrate advanced discursive skills and actively engage in online discussions, their participatory practices exhibit a spectrum of sophistication ranging from basic digital deliberation to more strategic forms of collaboration, such as advocacy, investigation, and documentation. However, these skills often face significant internal and external barriers, including public apathy, misinformation, and unsupportive socio-political practices. The study underscores the urgent need for innovative citizenship education that embraces experiential learning, digital collaboration, and project-based approaches that are adaptive to the characteristics of Generation Z. Recommendations The findings of this study make an important contribution to education because they offer ways to shape responsible citizens through digital integration, participatory pedagogy, and critical digital literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of applying the Conservation Based Learning (CBL) model integrated with local wisdom in improving the environmental literacy of fifth-grade students at SDN 351 Kawasan Ammatoa, Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi. Using a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group, this study involved two classes, namely an experimental class taught using the CBL model and a control class taught using conventional methods. Data collection was conducted through learning outcome tests in the form of multiple-choice and essay questions that measured students' environmental literacy, which included understanding conservation concepts, the ability to analyze environmental problems, and the application of knowledge in daily life. The results showed that the application of the CBL model integrated with local wisdom had a significant impact on improving students' environmental literacy, with the average posttest score for the experimental group reaching 86.00, while the control group only scored 61.81. Hypothesis testing using an independent t-test showed a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.05). In addition, N-Gain score analysis revealed a higher increase in the experimental group (0.76) compared to the control group (0.35), indicating that the CBL model is more effective in improving environmental literacy. Thus, this study confirms that the CBL model, which integrates local wisdom, can significantly improve students' understanding, analysis, and application of environmental knowledge, which is important for shaping sustainable environmental awareness

Abstract

This research aimed to measure the critical thinking skills of students in the Islamic Religious Education course through the application of a cognitive diagnostic assessment based on the Rasch model. The background of this research stems from the need for an assessment instrument that not only provides summative scores but also diagnoses students’ abilities in a more specific and in-depth manner. It employed a quantitative design involving 107 students, and the developed instrument was validated using Rasch analysis to ensure validity, reliability, and item fit. The results showed that the majority of students are in the moderate category (52,34%), followed by the high category (30,84%), and the low category (16,82%). These results highlight the diversity of students’ critical thinking skills, which require adaptive teaching strategies. The novelty of this research lies not only in the application of the Rasch model in cognitive diagnostic assessment but also in its implementation in the context of Islamic Religious Education, which has traditionally been measured through conventional tests emphasizing memorization and conceptual understanding. This approach allows for a more detailed mapping of critical thinking sub-skills in values- and ethics-based courses, going beyond previous research practices that generally focus on science or technical skills. Thus, this research contributes to the development of more accurate, adaptive, contextual, and relevant assessment instruments to support improvements in the quality of learning in higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge in Information and Communication Technology (TPACK-ICT) skills among teachers in the Papua region, specifically in Keerom Regency, Jayapura Regency, and Jayapura City. A quantitative descriptive method was employed to examine teachers’ TPACK competencies. The research was conducted from May to August 2025 using an accidental sampling technique. The sample consisted of 31 elementary, junior high, and high school teachers from the three study areas who completed the questionnaire. The research instrument comprised 34 statements related to the TPACK framework, and the data were analyzed descriptively. The results reveal that teachers’ overall TPACK competence falls into the good category, with an average score of 3.63. The highest component score was found in Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) at 3.93, followed by Pedagogical Knowledge (PK) and Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK), both at 3.88. These findings suggest that teachers are relatively proficient in designing learning strategies that align with the subject matter and effectively integrate pedagogical and technological aspects. Meanwhile, the Content Knowledge (CK) and Technological Knowledge (TK) components scored 3.79 and 3.77, respectively, indicating a satisfactory understanding of subject matter and basic technological skills. However, these aspects still require enhancement, particularly in mastering more advanced technology and deepening content understanding. The lowest scores were recorded in Technological Content Knowledge (TCK) and the overall TPACK components, both at 3.63, showing that teachers continue to face challenges in fully integrating technology into learning content and combining technology, pedagogy, and content holistically. Overall, while teachers demonstrate strong pedagogical competence, further development in technology integration is essential to achieve optimal TPACK implementation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop non-text teaching materials based on the social capital of local wisdom, used as an alternative learning resource in elementary schools to foster students’ social care attitudes. This research employed the research and development (R&D) method. The Borg & Gall model served as the foundation, but for practicality, it adopted Sukmadinata’s simplification into three major stages: preliminary study, teaching material development, and effectiveness testing. The development of non-text teaching materials rooted in Kuningan’s local wisdom was carried out through stages of needs analysis, design, validation, revision, and trials, resulting in a final product ready for dissemination. The content was packaged in the form of 3D illustrated stories that highlight Kuningan’s cultural values such as gotong royong (mutual cooperation), silih asih-silih asah-silih asuh (mutual love, care, and guidance), and local traditions, with the aim of cultivating students’ social care attitudes. Expert validation indicated a high level of feasibility with minor revisions, while feedback from FGDs emphasized the need for reflective activities and a glossary. Both limited and extensive trials demonstrated that the teaching materials were well received by students, as evidenced by increased comprehension, engagement, and relevance. The effectiveness of the materials was supported by statistical data, where the experimental group’s N-Gain reached 51.16% (moderate) compared to the control group’s 8.91% (low), with the Mann-Whitney U test showing a significant difference in post-test results (p = 0.000). These findings align with Lickona’s character education theory and recent research affirming the importance of reinforcing local cultural values, making these materials strategic for fostering elementary students’ social care attitudes. This study demonstrates that non-text teaching materials based on local wisdom are effective in developing elementary students’ social care attitudes. The practical implication is that teachers can utilize them as contextual alternative learning media, while policymakers may adopt them as references for curriculum development grounded in local cultural values.

Abstract

The study analyzed the mediating role of lifestyle in the influence of perceived behavioral control on the coffee consumption behavior of the Tulungagung community. Method Design and Sample: This quantitative study employs an explanatory research approach using a survey method, considering the research problems and objectives. The questionnaire was developed based on the research variables, namely perceived behavioral control, consumption behavior, and lifestyle. Data were collected from 100 respondents who constituted the study sample. Data collection was conducted using random sampling among coffee shop visitors in Tulungagung Regency, East Java, Indonesia. Data analysis was performed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach with SmartPLS software. Results: The hypothesis testing results indicate that both lifestyle and perceived behavioral control (PBC) have a significant effect on consumption behavior. The analysis shows that lifestyle positively affects consumption behavior, meaning that the higher a person’s lifestyle, the higher their consumption behavior. Additionally, PBC positively influences both lifestyle and consumption behavior, indicating that higher PBC corresponds to higher lifestyle and consumption behavior. Furthermore, the study found that PBC has an indirect effect on consumption behavior through lifestyle, suggesting that PBC can influence consumption behavior indirectly by enhancing lifestyle. These findings highlight the importance of considering psychological and behavioral factors in understanding individual consumption behavior. The study’s implications suggest that marketers can develop more effective marketing strategies by taking into account consumers’ lifestyle and perceived behavioral control. Moreover, the research can increase consumer awareness of the factors affecting their consumption behavior, enabling them to make more informed decisions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of teachers’ positive politeness strategies on students’ self-efficacy in Indonesian language learning. The research examines how teachers’ communication strategies can strengthen students’ confidence in their ability to understand and complete learning tasks. Using a quantitative approach, the study involved Grade XI students from SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Surabaya as participants, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed through several stages: (a) validity and reliability testing, (b) classical assumption testing (normality, heteroscedasticity, and linearity tests), (c) simple linear regression analysis, and (d) hypothesis testing (t-test and coefficient of determination). The results indicate that teachers’ positive politeness strategies significantly influence students’ self-efficacy in Indonesian language learning. This is evidenced by an R Square value of 0.552, demonstrating that the politeness strategy variable explains 55.2% of the variation in students’ self-efficacy levels. This study contributes to the field of educational communication by empirically demonstrating that teachers’ use of positive politeness strategies fosters greater student confidence and engagement in language learning. The findings highlight the importance of teacher–student interaction styles as a key factor in enhancing self-efficacy and overall learning effectivenes.
