Abstract

This article explores the revitalization of Islamic educational institutions in the context of transitioning from tradition to transformation in the global era. The main focus is on the urgency of institutional reform, the strategic role of Islamic education, and adaptive strategies that integrate Islamic values with modern demands. Using a qualitative approach based on literature review, the study examines fundamental concepts of Islamic education institutions, their types and roles, as well as current challenges, including resistance to innovation, managerial limitations, and human resource capacity. The findings reveal that revitalization is not merely a structural necessity but also a value-based imperative, requiring Islamic institutions to act as agents of spiritual-based social transformation. The article proposes several key strategies, including institutional management reform, enhancement of educators’ competencies, and cross-sectoral collaboration. In conclusion, successful revitalization must be holistic and participatory to ensure that Islamic educational institutions remain relevant and competitive in shaping a future-oriented generation in the global landscape.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to identify and understand the dynamics of differences in thought between the Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali schools of thought. The research method used in this study is library research. Data was obtained from secondary literature such as books, journals, scientific articles, and related documents. The procedure was carried out in three stages: literature identification, selection based on relevance and quality, and thematic analysis to develop a deep and contextual conceptual synthesis. The research findings indicate that the dynamics of Islamic thought are inseparable from the needs of the Muslim community in responding to the complexity of legal issues following the passing of Prophet Muhammad SAW. The emergence of the four major madhhabs—Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali—is evidence of the development of Islamic thought institutions in formulating diverse methods of ijtihad based on the same legal sources. The methodological differences within each madhhab reflect the intellectual richness of the community, not division. This article examines the historical and methodological background of the formation of madhhabs as a form of adaptation of Islamic law to the socio-political realities of the Muslim community. By understanding the context of these differences, it is hoped that Muslims can respond to diversity of views wisely as a blessing and strength, not as a source of conflict.

Abstract

This study examines the institutional transformation of Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kementerian Agama Republik Indonesia) within the framework of public policy and structural da’wah in response to the evolving socio-political and religious dynamics of Indonesian society. Employing a qualitative approach through document analysis and library research, this study analyzes government regulations, academic literature, policy documents, and previous scholarly studies related to religious governance, religious moderation, and state-religion relations in Indonesia. The findings reveal that the Ministry of Religious Affairs has experienced a significant paradigm shift from a predominantly administrative and doctrinal institution toward a more dialogical, inclusive, and service-oriented religious bureaucracy. In this context, religious policies such as religious moderation programs, zakat and waqf governance, halal assurance, and community religious development function not only as instruments of state regulation but also as mechanisms of structural da’wah aimed at strengthening social cohesion and public welfare. However, the implementation of these policies continues to face several structural challenges, including bureaucratization of religion, political intervention, institutional fragmentation, and declining public trust in religious institutions. This study contributes to the discourse on religious governance by highlighting the complex interaction between religion, state authority, and public policy in contemporary Indonesia. The study further argues that strengthening transparent, participatory, and collaborative governance is essential to enhancing the effectiveness of religious policy and promoting inclusive religious development in a pluralistic society.
