Abstract

Growing ecological degradation and rising climate vulnerabilities in Indonesia have prompted renewed interest in faith-based environmental engagement, yet the role of mosques as community hubs for climate action remains insufficiently defined. Previous studies often assume that religious leaders automatically possess ecological authority, overlooking the varied interpretations of eco-theology within local Islamic practices. This study investigates how the figure of the Green Imam—a religious leader advocating environmental ethics—can shape community-based climate change mitigation in Indonesian mosques. The research aims to analyze the theological foundations of Islamic eco-ethics, examine the agency of imams in mobilizing environmental awareness, and evaluate community responses to mosque-based climate initiatives. A qualitative design was employed, combining textual analysis of eco-theological literature, semi-structured interviews with imams from diverse regions, and case studies of mosque-led environmental programs such as waste management, tree planting, and sustainable water use. Findings indicate that eco-theology provides a compelling moral narrative that strengthens local climate action, but its effectiveness depends on the imam’s interpretive framing, leadership style, and the socio-cultural character of the congregation. Mosques implementing structured environmental programs demonstrated higher levels of community participation and stronger behavioral shifts compared to those relying solely on sermons. However, uneven ecological literacy among imams and limited institutional support remain persistent challenges. The study concludes that the Green Imam model can serve as a catalyst for climate mitigation when supported by coherent theological grounding, community empowerment strategies, and collaborative networks with governmental and civil-society actors. Strengthening eco-theological literacy and institutionalizing environmental programs in mosques are essential for long-term sustainability.

Abstract

Non-timber forest products (NTFPs) have long been integral to the livelihoods of rural communities, providing essential resources for food, medicine, income, and cultural practices. Despite their importance, the role of NTFPs in improving rural welfare is often underexplored in scientific research. Understanding their contribution is critical for sustainable development and rural poverty alleviation. This study aims to assess the role of NTFPs in the livelihoods of rural populations, exploring their economic, social, and environmental significance. It further seeks to identify the challenges and opportunities surrounding the sustainable use of these resources. The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative interviews with local communities and quantitative data collection through surveys. Fieldwork was conducted in selected rural areas where NTFPs are a key resource. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Findings reveal that NTFPs significantly contribute to household income, particularly in communities with limited access to formal employment. They also play a vital role in maintaining cultural practices and providing food security. However, overharvesting and inadequate policy frameworks threaten their sustainability. NTFPs are crucial for rural livelihoods, but their continued availability depends on effective management strategies that balance economic needs with environmental conservation. Policy interventions should focus on promoting sustainable harvesting practices and supporting local communities in managing these resources.

Abstract

The quality of elementary education is fundamentally linked to teacher effectiveness, with professional competence being a cornerstone of student success. This study aimed to quantitatively determine the relationship between the professional competencies of elementary school teachers and the achievement of Graduate Competency Standards (GCS) by their students. A quantitative correlational design was employed, involving a sample of certified teachers and their respective students from several elementary schools. Teacher professional competence was assessed using a standardized competency test, while student achievement data was obtained from official GCS scores. The data were analyzed using Pearson correlation. The results revealed a significant and strong positive correlation (r = 0.78, p < 0.01) between the level of teachers’ professional competence and students’ GCS achievement. Higher teacher competence scores were consistently associated with higher student achievement. This study concludes that teachers’ professional competence is a critical and significant predictor of students’ success in meeting educational benchmarks. Therefore, enhancing the quality of elementary education hinges on targeted and continuous professional development programs for teachers.

Abstract

Psychological flourishing refers to the optimal functioning of individuals, characterized by high levels of well-being, personal growth, and life satisfaction. Self-compassion, the ability to treat oneself with kindness during times of failure or difficulty, has been increasingly recognized as a critical factor in promoting mental health and well-being. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-compassion and psychological flourishing in young adults. Specifically, it investigates how different aspects of self-compassion, such as self-kindness and mindfulness, contribute to overall well-being and personal growth in this demographic. A quantitative correlational research design was employed, using surveys to collect data from 300 young adults aged 18-30. The Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) was used to measure self-compassion, and the Psychological Flourishing Scale (PFS) was used to assess flourishing. Pearson’s correlation and regression analyses were conducted to determine the relationship between self-compassion and flourishing. The findings revealed a significant positive correlation between self-compassion and psychological flourishing. Higher levels of self-compassion were associated with greater well-being, personal growth, and life satisfaction among young adults. This study concludes that self-compassion is a significant predictor of psychological flourishing in young adults.

Abstract

Water pollution by hazardous substances, such as heavy metals and industrial chemicals, is a global problem that threatens the sustainability of ecosystems and human health. Early detection of these pollutants is essential to prevent further damage. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ultra-sensitive quantum sensors in detecting pollutants in water at very low concentrations. The method used in this study is laboratory and field experiments, by comparing the performance of quantum sensors and conventional sensors in detecting heavy metals and other chemicals in water. The results show that quantum sensors have a much higher sensitivity compared to conventional sensors, with the ability to detect contaminants up to lower concentrations. Quantum sensors can detect lead (Pb) at 0.1 ppb, while conventional sensors can only detect at 0.4 ppb. In conclusion, quantum sensor technology can provide a more efficient and sensitive solution for water quality monitoring, and it has great potential to be implemented in a wider range of environmental monitoring systems. Further research is needed to overcome cost constraints and improve the integration of these technologies in water monitoring in the field.

Abstract

The growing body of research on creativity has traditionally highlighted its positive contributions to innovation and problem-solving, yet recent studies suggest that creativity may also facilitate unethical behavior. This study investigates the “dark side” of creativity by examining how creative potential and creative self-efficacy relate to morally questionable decision-making in organizational contexts. The research aims to clarify whether creativity inherently increases individuals’ capacity to rationalize misconduct or whether situational factors moderate this relationship. A mixed-method design was employed, combining a quantitative survey of 312 employees from diverse professional sectors with qualitative vignette-based interviews to probe moral reasoning processes. The findings indicate that higher creativity scores correlate with greater justification of rule-bending behaviors, particularly when individuals perceive ethical norms as ambiguous or organizational climates as permissive. However, creativity did not uniformly predict unethical actions; rather, the effect was contingent upon motivational orientations and moral disengagement tendencies. The study concludes that creativity is a dual-edged construct capable of generating both adaptive and maladaptive outcomes highlighting the need for ethical scaffolding in creative work environments. These insights contribute to a more nuanced understanding of creativity beyond its celebrated positive dimensions.

Abstract

Forensic psychology has become an integral component of modern criminal justice systems, particularly through the use of expert testimony to address complex issues related to mental state, criminal responsibility, competency, and risk assessment. Courts increasingly rely on forensic psychological expertise to inform judicial reasoning, yet the extent and nature of its influence on verdict outcomes remain insufficiently examined. This study aims to analyze the role of forensic psychology in criminal justice by examining how expert psychological testimonies are presented, interpreted, and utilized in judicial verdicts. A qualitative-dominant mixed-method research design was employed, drawing on secondary data from criminal court cases that involved forensic psychological expert testimony. Data were collected through systematic document analysis of court transcripts, expert reports, and written verdicts, supported by descriptive and inferential statistical analysis of verdict patterns. The results indicate that forensic psychological expert testimony significantly influences verdict outcomes, particularly in cases involving criminal responsibility and competency to stand trial. Judicial reliance on expert testimony was strongest when assessments were methodologically rigorous and explicitly referenced in verdict reasoning. The study concludes that forensic psychology functions as a decisive interpretive framework in complex criminal cases rather than as merely supplementary evidence. These findings underscore the importance of methodological rigor, transparency, and ethical accountability in forensic psychological practice to support fair and evidence-based judicial decision-making.

Abstract

Background: The establishment of Nusantara (IKN) as Indonesia’s new capital represents a monumental endeavor in urban development, explicitly aiming to be a “smart city.” However, the global challenge for smart cities lies not merely in deploying technology, but in creating governance structures that effectively integrate these digital systems with inclusive, genuine citizen participation. This research addresses the critical gap in how IKN’s smart city ambitions will be governed, focusing on the essential synergy between technological infrastructure and participatory democracy. Purpose: This study aims to develop and propose a comprehensive governance framework specifically tailored for IKN Nusantara. The objective is to conceptualize a model that operationalizes the integration of advanced technologies (e.g., IoT, AI, big data) with robust mechanisms for citizen engagement in policy-making and urban management. Methods: A qualitative, constructive research design was employed. The framework was developed through a rigorous analysis of existing global smart city governance models, a systematic review of IKN’s foundational policy documents, and in-depth, semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, including urban planners, technology experts, and civil society representatives. Results: The primary outcome is the “IKN Integrated Governance Framework” (IGF). This framework identifies four critical pillars: (1) A unified data and technology platform, (2) Multi-channel citizen participation portals (digital and physical), (3) Data-driven, transparent decision-making processes, and (4) Adaptive regulatory oversight. The findings emphasize that a technology-first approach without embedded participation mechanisms risks creating an exclusionary, top-down city. Conclusion: The proposed framework provides an essential blueprint for IKN to avoid the pitfalls of “techno-solutionism.” By structurally embedding citizen participation within the technological architecture, Nusantara can pioneer a smart city governance model that is not only efficient and intelligent but also human-centric, resilient, and democratically accountable.
