Abstract

Contemporary environmental degradation has intensified debates on how Islamic teachings on stewardship align or conflict with modern consumption patterns in Muslim-majority societies. Although the Qur’anic concept of khalifah positions humans as responsible caretakers of the earth, everyday consumer practices often reflect excess, materialism, and resource exploitation—revealing a gap between normative Islamic ethics and lived behaviors. This tension raises important questions regarding how Islamic environmental principles are interpreted, negotiated, and applied within modern consumer cultures. The study aims to analyze the extent to which Islamic principles of environmental sustainability—such as moderation (wasatiyyah), avoidance of waste (israf), and ecological stewardship—can be reconciled with prevailing consumption patterns influenced by globalization, digital markets, and lifestyle aspirations. The research also seeks to identify the cognitive, theological, and socio-cultural factors shaping Muslims’ ecological attitudes. A qualitative approach was employed using semi-structured interviews with Islamic scholars, educators, and urban Muslim consumers in Indonesia, complemented by textual analysis of classical and contemporary Islamic literature on environmental ethics. Thematic analysis was conducted to compare doctrinal ideals with empirical consumer behaviors. Findings reveal a strong theoretical foundation for sustainable living within Islamic teachings, yet significant inconsistencies remain between religious norms and actual consumer practices. Participants acknowledged environmental responsibilities but felt constrained by social expectations, market pressures, and limited institutional guidance. The study concludes that reconciling Islamic environmental ethics with modern consumption requires strengthening eco-theological literacy, promoting structural incentives for sustainable choices, and reinterpreting religious teachings in ways that resonate with contemporary lifestyles.

Abstract

The increasing global demand for timber and forest products has raised concerns about unsustainable forest practices, resulting in deforestation, biodiversity loss, and ecosystem degradation. Certification programs, such as FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), have emerged as tools to promote sustainable forest management (SFM). These certifications aim to ensure that forests are managed in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable manner. However, the effectiveness of certification in achieving these goals remains a topic of ongoing debate. This research aims to evaluate the role of forest certification programs in promoting sustainable forest management. Specifically, it investigates the impact of certification on forest practices, local communities, and the broader forest industry. A mixed-methods approach was adopted, combining qualitative interviews with forest managers, certification bodies, and local stakeholders, alongside quantitative analysis of forest management data in certified versus non-certified forests. Data were collected from various regions, including Southeast Asia, North America, and Europe. The findings reveal that certification programs positively influence forest management practices, leading to improved biodiversity conservation, better forest regeneration, and increased stakeholder engagement. However, challenges such as high certification costs, lack of awareness, and insufficient enforcement were identified as barriers to achieving full potential. Certification programs play a significant role in promoting sustainable forest management, though further efforts are needed to address barriers and enhance the inclusivity and effectiveness of these programs.

Abstract

The background of this research focuses on the challenges of investment portfolio optimization, which often requires long computing time and high complexity, especially with many assets that must be analyzed. The use of quantum algorithms for investment optimization promises a faster and more efficient solution. The purpose of this study is to develop a hybrid quantum algorithm that can combine quantum and classical computing methods to improve portfolio optimization performance. The research method used is an experiment by testing a combination of quantum algorithms (such as variational quantum eigensolver, VQE) and classical algorithms to solve portfolio optimization problems using historical market data. The results show that the hybrid quantum algorithm successfully reduces computational time and improves accuracy in choosing the optimal asset combination, by minimizing risk and maximizing portfolio returns. The conclusion of this study is that the hybrid approach has great potential in overcoming the limitations that exist in pure quantum algorithms and can be effectively applied in investment portfolio optimization. Further research is needed to test these algorithms on a larger scale and with more dynamic market data.

Abstract

The Carnot limit has long been considered the upper bound for the efficiency of heat engines, a fundamental concept in classical thermodynamics. However, in quantum systems, the possibility exists to surpass this classical boundary by exploiting quantum phenomena such as coherence. This study investigates the enhancement of a quantum heat engine's efficiency beyond the Carnot limit through coherence-assisted bath coupling. The primary objective of the research is to explore how quantum coherence between the system and its thermal bath can be used to reduce dissipation, optimize energy transfer, and increase efficiency. The research employs both theoretical modeling and computational simulations to analyze the performance of a quantum heat engine under varying coherence times and bath coupling strengths. By adjusting these parameters, the study examines the effects of coherence-assisted bath coupling on engine efficiency. The results demonstrate that, through careful manipulation of the coherence time and bath coupling strength, the quantum engine can exceed the Carnot efficiency, achieving a maximum efficiency of 78.7%. This finding indicates that quantum coherence can be used as a resource to enhance the performance of quantum heat engines. In conclusion, this study presents a new approach to quantum thermodynamics, showing that coherence-assisted bath coupling provides a viable path to enhancing quantum heat engine efficiency beyond classical limits.

Abstract

The integration of machine learning algorithms into educational practices has the potential to transform personalized learning and improve student outcomes. Traditional one-size-fits-all teaching methods often fail to address the diverse needs of students, resulting in disengagement and unequal academic progress. Machine learning offers an adaptive approach, tailoring educational content to individual students’ needs and providing real-time feedback. This research explores the role of machine learning algorithms in personalized learning environments and their impact on improving student performance. The study employs a mixed-methods design, combining quantitative analysis of academic performance with qualitative interviews of students and teachers to assess the effectiveness of AI-driven learning tools. Results indicate significant improvements in student engagement, achievement, and self-regulated learning, with 80% of students showing increased academic performance. However, concerns regarding the depersonalization of feedback and the limitations of AI in addressing emotional and social aspects of learning were noted. The study concludes that while machine learning algorithms can significantly enhance personalized learning and improve student outcomes, they must be integrated alongside human-centered teaching practices to ensure a balanced and holistic educational experience. AI should serve as a complement to, not a replacement for, human interaction in the learning process.

Abstract

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths, with the overexpression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) playing a critical role in its progression. Current therapies face challenges in targeting EGFR effectively. To synthesize and evaluate nanobodies targeting EGFR in colorectal cancer cells, aiming to improve therapeutic specificity and efficacy. Nanobodies were synthesized using phage display technology and screened for high affinity to EGFR. In vitro studies involved colorectal cancer cell lines (HT-29, SW480, HCT116) to assess binding specificity, internalization, and cytotoxicity. In vivo studies used mouse models implanted with human colorectal tumors to evaluate biodistribution, tumor targeting, and therapeutic outcomes. Synthesized nanobodies demonstrated high binding affinity (KD in nanomolar range) and specificity to EGFR, inhibiting cancer cell proliferation by up to 70% and reducing tumor volume by 65% in mouse models. Stability tests confirmed nanobody resilience under various biological conditions. The study highlights the potential of nanobodies targeting EGFR as an effective therapeutic approach for colorectal cancer, with significant improvements in targeting specificity and tumor reduction. Further clinical trials are necessary to confirm these findings.

Abstract

Background. Political theater has played an important role in social changes and revolutions in different parts of the world. Purpose. This research aims to explore the evolution of political theater, especially in the context of revolutionary movements, with a focus on the adaptation of staging techniques and local cultural influences.   Method. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a historical approach and content analysis, which includes political theater scripts from Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Africa. Results. The results of the study show that political theater continues to evolve, especially through the use of interactive techniques and the integration of local cultural elements. The development of digital technology also plays an important role in spreading political messages more widely through online platforms. In non-Western regions, political theater emphasizes traditional arts such as music and dance as part of the delivery of revolutionary messages. Conclusion. In conclusion, political theater remains relevant in the modern era by continuing to adapt to social, political, and technological contexts. This research contributes to the understanding of how political theater functions as a tool for social change, as well as opening up opportunities for further research on the impact of globalization and technology on contemporary political theater.

Abstract

Background. In the disruption era, the rapid expansion of digital platforms has transformed communication, learning, and cultural exchange, creating both challenges and opportunities for preserving mother tongues. Globalized content consumption and dominant language use in digital spaces often marginalize minority languages, accelerating linguistic erosion. Purpose. This study aims to investigate the impact of digital platforms on mother tongue preservation, focusing on the balance between technological threats and revitalization potential. Method. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, combining literature review and case analysis of digital initiatives promoting local languages. Data were collected from scholarly publications, online communities, and interviews with language activists. Results. Findings reveal that while unregulated exposure to dominant languages can weaken intergenerational transmission, digital tools such as social media campaigns, e-learning applications, and digital archives offer innovative pathways for documentation, education, and community engagement. Conclusion. The study concludes that strategic integration of cultural values with technology can transform digital platforms into allies for mother tongue preservation. Policy support, community participation, and localized content production are critical to sustaining linguistic diversity in the digital age.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital technology has reshaped communication and learning practices in pesantren, creating both opportunities and risks for santri. Increasing access to smartphones and social media exposes students to cyberbullying, excessive screen time, and gadget dependency, which threaten their psychological wellbeing and disrupt the pesantren’s disciplined learning culture. These challenges highlight the urgent need for a culturally appropriate cyber-wellbeing framework tailored to Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to identify effective strategies for preventing cyberbullying and gadget addiction among santri through a holistic approach that integrates digital literacy, moral education, and behavioral regulation. A mixed-methods design was employed, combining surveys of 312 santri from three pesantren, focus group discussions with ustadz/ustadzah, and observational analysis of daily digital practices. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, while qualitative data were thematically coded to capture contextual nuances. The findings reveal that cyberbullying incidents primarily occur through group-chat interactions and anonymous messaging channels, often triggered by peer conflicts and lack of digital etiquette. Gadget addiction was strongly associated with unrestricted device use and absence of structured digital routines. Implementation of three core strategies—digital adab training, gadget-use time management, and monitoring systems involving peer mentors—significantly reduced risky online behaviors. The study concludes that cyber-wellbeing efforts in pesantren must be grounded in Islamic values, community discipline, and collaborative monitoring between teachers and peers. These culturally embedded strategies offer a comprehensive model for strengthening digital resilience among santri in the evolving digital era.

Abstract

The transition to a circular economy requires innovative financial practices to support sustainable business models and reduce environmental impact. Traditional financing mechanisms often focus on linear growth, emphasizing short-term profitability over long-term sustainability, which limits the adoption of circular practices. Circular economy financing aims to provide capital, incentives, and risk mitigation strategies that enable businesses to implement resource-efficient, regenerative, and waste-minimizing processes. This study investigates financial models that facilitate circular economy adoption, including green bonds, impact investing, leasing schemes, and public-private partnerships. A qualitative research design was employed, combining systematic literature review with case study analysis of firms implementing circular strategies across manufacturing, energy, and service sectors. Data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns in financing approaches, success factors, and barriers. Findings indicate that tailored financing mechanisms, such as performance-based loans and blended finance models, effectively support circular business innovations by aligning financial incentives with environmental and social outcomes. The study concludes that integrating innovative financial practices into circular economy initiatives can drive sustainable business transformation, enhance competitiveness, and reduce environmental footprint.
