Abstract

The historical narrative of Western intellectual development often obscures the profound contributions of Islamic philosophy, frequently reducing the Islamic Golden Age to a mere preservation period for Hellenistic thought. This research aims to re-evaluate the specific mechanisms and depth of Islamic influence on the Western intellectual tradition, specifically during the Scholastic revolution. A qualitative historical-philosophical design was employed, utilizing hermeneutic analysis and diachronic mapping of primary Arabic texts and their subsequent Latin translations. Findings reveal that Muslim polymaths like Ibn Sina and Ibn Rushd were not passive conduits but original innovators who provided the metaphysical and logical scaffolding for Western Scholasticism. The study identifies a systematic “transcultural synthesis” where Islamic rationalism fundamentally restructured European epistemology, particularly regarding the distinction between essence and existence and the development of empirical methodologies. This research concludes that the Western philosophical canon is a hybrid construct deeply rooted in Islamic intellectual labor, necessitating a decolonized approach to the history of ideas. Recognizing this shared heritage challenges Eurocentric biases and promotes a more inclusive understanding of global human progress.

Abstract

Zakat, one of the five pillars of Islam, is a mandatory form of almsgiving aimed at redistributing wealth and promoting economic justice. In Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority country, zakat has the potential to significantly impact income distribution and reduce poverty. However, its effectiveness is often hindered by inefficiencies in collection, distribution, and utilization. This study examines the impact of zakat on income distribution in Indonesia, focusing on its role in reducing economic inequality and promoting social welfare. The research aims to identify the challenges and opportunities associated with zakat management and propose strategies for enhancing its effectiveness. Using a mixed-methods approach, this study combines quantitative analysis of income distribution data with qualitative interviews with zakat institutions, beneficiaries, and policymakers. Data were analyzed to assess the impact of zakat on poverty alleviation, income inequality, and economic empowerment. The findings reveal that zakat has a modest but positive impact on income distribution, particularly in rural areas. However, inefficiencies in collection and distribution, as well as a lack of transparency, limit its potential to achieve broader economic justice. The study concludes that improving zakat management through better governance, transparency, and targeted distribution strategies is essential for maximizing its impact on income distribution. This research contributes to the discourse on Islamic economics by providing practical recommendations for enhancing the role of zakat in promoting economic justice and social welfare in Indonesia.

Abstract

The widespread institutionalization of hybrid learning environments has intensified student exposure to digitally mediated academic demands, generating mounting concern among educators, policymakers, and mental health professionals regarding the cumulative effects of prolonged screen engagement, boundary dissolution between academic and personal digital spaces, and algorithmically driven distraction on student psychological wellbeing and academic performance outcomes. Existing frameworks for digital wellbeing have been developed predominantly for general consumer technology contexts and remain insufficiently theorized for the specific cognitive, emotional, and social demands of hybrid educational settings. This study aims to examine the relationship between digital wellbeing practices, academic performance, and mental health outcomes among students engaged in hybrid learning environments across tertiary educational institutions. A sequential explanatory mixed-methods design was employed, combining a quantitative survey administered to 624 undergraduate students across four universities with qualitative interviews conducted with 36 purposively selected participants, analyzed through structural equation modeling and reflexive thematic analysis respectively. Digital wellbeing practices significantly predicted both academic performance (? = 0.512, p < .001) and mental health outcomes (? = 0.467, p < .001), with screen boundary management and purposeful technology disengagement emerging as the strongest protective factors. Intentional digital wellbeing integration within hybrid learning design substantially reduces psychological distress while sustaining academic performance, necessitating institution-level policy commitments beyond individual student self-regulation.

Abstract

The healthcare sector faces increasing pressure to improve efficiency in patient management due to rising demands for services and limited nursing resources. The integration of wearable devices in healthcare offers a promising solution to enhance nursing efficiency by providing real-time monitoring and data collection. This study aims to explore the impact of wearable devices on nursing efficiency, particularly in the management of patients with chronic conditions. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative analysis of patient outcomes and qualitative interviews with healthcare professionals using wearable technology in clinical settings. The results show that the use of wearable devices led to a 20% reduction in nurse workload, as real-time monitoring allowed for early detection of health issues, reducing the need for frequent in-person checks. Additionally, patient satisfaction increased by 15% due to the continuous monitoring and prompt intervention facilitated by wearable devices. The study concludes that wearable devices can significantly enhance nursing efficiency and improve patient outcomes, particularly in chronic disease management. The integration of these devices into healthcare systems has the potential to alleviate nursing shortages, improve patient care, and optimize resource allocation. However, challenges such as data security and device integration must be addressed for widespread adoption.

Abstract

Background. Non-formal education plays a significant role in rural South Africa, where formal education systems often face challenges such as limited infrastructure and financial resources. The integration of technology can help bridge these gaps, offering innovative ways to deliver education in under-resourced areas. Purpose. This study aims to explore the role of technology in enhancing non-formal education in rural South Africa, particularly focusing on its effectiveness in improving access, quality, and engagement for learners. Method. A qualitative research approach was employed, with interviews and focus group discussions conducted among educators, students, and community members in rural areas. Results. The findings reveal that technology, particularly mobile learning platforms and digital resources, has significantly enhanced accessibility to educational materials. Additionally, it has contributed to more interactive and engaging learning experiences, though challenges such as unreliable internet connectivity and limited technological skills among educators persist. Conclusion.  The study concludes that while technology has great potential to improve non-formal education in rural South Africa, efforts must be made to address the challenges of infrastructure and digital literacy.

Abstract

Background. Academic stress has become a persistent mental health concern among students due to increasing academic demands and performance pressure. Digital mental health interventions, particularly mindfulness applications, have gained attention as accessible tools for stress management, yet empirical evidence focusing on academic stress remains limited. Purpose. This study aims to examine the relationship between mindfulness app use and student mental health, with specific attention to the reduction of academic stress in educational settings. Method. The study employs a quantitative correlational design supported by descriptive case analysis. Data were collected from students using standardized questionnaires measuring mindfulness app usage, academic stress, and mental well-being. Results. The findings reveal a significant negative correlation between mindfulness app use and academic stress, along with a positive relationship between app use and mental well-being. Consistent engagement with mindfulness apps was associated with lower stress levels and improved emotional regulation. Conclusion. The study concludes that mindfulness apps function as effective digital interventions for reducing academic stress when used consistently. The novelty of this research lies in emphasizing usage consistency as a key determinant of effectiveness and in integrating quantitative and contextual evidence to explain how digital mindfulness interventions support student mental health.

Abstract

Background. The digital era has brought about significant advancements in technology, leading to an increased reliance on digital platforms for communication, transactions, and daily activities. While these technological advancements provide numerous benefits, they also raise concerns about the protection of citizens’ constitutional rights, particularly in terms of privacy, freedom of expression, and data security. Objective. This study aims to examine the protection of citizens’ constitutional rights in the digital era, focusing on the balance between technological innovation and individual rights. The research seeks to assess the effectiveness of existing legal frameworks in safeguarding privacy, freedom of speech, and other fundamental rights in the context of the digital landscape. Method. A qualitative research design was used, employing case studies, legal analysis, and interviews with legal professionals, policymakers, and technology experts. The data collected was analyzed to evaluate how well constitutional rights are protected in digital environments and to identify potential gaps in legal protection. Results. The findings indicate that while there are legal frameworks in place to protect constitutional rights, there are significant challenges in keeping pace with technological advancements. Privacy violations, surveillance concerns, and data breaches were highlighted as key issues. Conclusion. The study concludes that existing legal protections must be adapted to address the challenges posed by the digital era, with a focus on strengthening privacy laws, improving data security, and ensuring accountability in digital platforms.

Abstract

Background. This study aims to analyze the influence of leadership, school culture, and self-efficacy on teacher performance, both partially and simultaneously. Specifically, this study examines how leadership affects teacher performance in carrying out their duties, the extent to which school culture contributes to creating a work environment that supports performance improvement, and the role of self-efficacy in building teacher confidence and professionalism. Purpose. This study aims to analyze the influence of leadership, school culture, and self-efficacy on teacher performance, both partially and simultaneously. Method. This study used a quantitative approach with an ex-post facto method. The population in this study were 78 teachers of SMP Negeri Kuala Kampar District, with a sample size of 78 people selected using purposive sampling technique. Data collection was done through distributing questionnaires, which were then analyzed using multiple linear regression, partial test (t test), simultaneous test (F test), and the coefficient of determination (R²). Results. The results showed that leadership has a positive and significant influence on teacher performance with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). School culture also has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). Similarly, self-efficacy has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). Simultaneously, leadership, school culture, and self-efficacy have a significant influence on teacher performance with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). Conclusion. These findings suggest that effective principal leadership can create a conducive work environment and increase teacher motivation, while a positive school culture supports teachers' professionalism and commitment in carrying out their duties. In addition, high self-efficacy encourages teachers to be more confident in managing learning. Therefore, a holistic approach that includes adaptive leadership, inclusive school culture, and strengthening teachers' self-efficacy is needed to improve the quality of education.

Abstract

Emergency departments face increasing pressure from unpredictable patient surges that can intensify overcrowding, treatment delays, staff workload, and resource shortages. This study aimed to develop and evaluate machine learning algorithms for predicting emergency demand across multiple hospitals and forecast horizons. A quantitative multi-site predictive modeling design combined retrospective records from 1,427,860 emergency encounters with prospective validation data from 151,632 visits. Seasonal ARIMA, Poisson regression, support vector regression, random forest, long short-term memory, extreme gradient boosting, and hybrid ensemble models were compared using temporal and external validation. Results showed that the hybrid ensemble achieved the strongest twenty-four-hour performance, with a mean absolute error of 21.84 patients, mean absolute percentage error of 6.58%, and an R-squared value of 0.91. The model also produced high six-hour surge sensitivity, while recent arrivals, occupancy, ambulance activity, infectious disease indicators, bed availability, weather, air quality, and public events emerged as influential predictors. Predictive accuracy declined for longer horizons and less frequent clinical categories. The study concludes that machine learning can strengthen emergency preparedness when forecasts are explainable, continuously validated, and connected to predefined staffing, triage, bed-management, and ambulance-response protocols.
