Abstract

Character building in elementary school students is a crucial issue in education, particularly amid the challenges of moral crises and social changes in the technological era. Educational philosophy is viewed as a fundamental foundation for designing values, goals, and educational practices oriented toward character development. This study aims to analyze the role of educational philosophy in shaping the character of elementary school students through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. This study employs the SLR method, following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, through a systematic process of identification, selection, and synthesis of the literature. The literature search was conducted using databases such as Google Scholar, SINTA, and reputable international journals within the publication range of 2020–2025. Of the 72 identified articles, 18 met the inclusion criteria and were further analyzed using thematic analysis. The results indicate that educational philosophy, particularly the streams of idealism, pragmatism, and progressivism, plays a significant role in shaping students’ character values such as honesty, responsibility, discipline, cooperation, and empathy. The integration of these three philosophical approaches has been proven to produce more holistic, contextual, and applicable learning processes in students’ daily lives. Furthermore, the implementation of philosophical values in learning enhances students’ moral awareness and positive behavior. Therefore, educational philosophy has a strategic role as a conceptual foundation in character building for elementary school students. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating philosophical values into the curriculum, learning strategies, and the role of teachers as role models in instilling character values sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the characteristics of schools in educational philosophy and their implications for Islamic education. This study uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research, which is sourced from books, scientific journals, and other relevant literature. The data was analyzed descriptively and comparatively to identify the differences, similarities, and contributions of each school. The results show that the philosophy of education is divided into two main tendencies, namely traditional (essentialism and perennialism) that emphasizes the stability of values and the dominant role of educators, and contemporary (progressivism, existentialism, and reconstructionalism) which is oriented towards individual freedom, learning experience, and social change. In the context of Islamic education, each school has its relevance as well as its limitations. Traditional schools are aligned with efforts to maintain basic Islamic values, while contemporary schools contribute to the development of more adaptive and contextual learning methods. However, the difference in paradigm between schools requires a proper selection and integration process so as not to conflict with Islamic principles. This study concludes that an integrative approach that combines traditional values with modern thinking becomes a strategic solution in the development of relevant, adaptive, and sustainable Islamic education.

Abstract

This article is motivated by the increasing use of the internet as a learning resource for elementary school students who do not yet fully possess the ability to evaluate the accuracy of information. Ontologically, digital literacy is not only understood as the technical ability to use devices, but also as a critical awareness of the nature of information, its sources, and its validity. The purpose of this study is to analyze the concept of the ontology of digital literacy in helping elementary school students assess the accuracy of information from internet-based sources. The method used is qualitative research with a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Data were obtained from scientific journals, books, and relevant educational policy documents. The results show that ontology-based digital literacy emphasizes an understanding of the existence of information, its origins, and the criteria of truth involving aspects of logic, source credibility, and information context. These findings indicate that students equipped with ontological understanding tend to be more critical in distinguishing between hoax and factual information. The conclusion of this study is that the integration of an ontological approach in digital literacy is essential for developing critical thinking skills from an early age. The implication is that teachers need to develop learning strategies that not only focus on the use of technology but also on the critical evaluation of digital information

Abstract

Abstract: This studi aimed to analyze the reconstruction of Islamic epistemology in the thought of Mohammed Arkoun with a particular emphasis on its axiological dimension. The study departs from the assumption that the crisis of contemporary Islamic thought is not merely methodological in nature but is also related to the value orientation (axiology) underlying the production of religious knowledge. This research employs a qualitative approach based on library research, combined with a philosophical-critical analysis of Arkoun’s major works, particularly those related to the concepts of Critique of Islamic Reason, unthought, and Islamology Applied. The findings reveal that the epistemological reconstruction proposed by Arkoun does not merely aim to deconstruct the orthodoxy of Islamic scholarship but also shifts the value orientation of Islamic studies from a doctrinal-transmissive model toward a more humanistic, reflective, and dialogical production of meaning. From an axiological perspective, Arkoun’s ideas emphasize the importance of liberating reason from the sacralization of interpretative products, strengthening epistemic plurality, and integrating the social sciences and humanities into Islamic studies. The implications of these findings suggest that the reconstruction of Islamic epistemology should be directed toward strengthening scholarly ethics, intellectual openness, and social relevance in responding to the challenges of modernity. Thus, the contribution of this article lies in affirming that the renewal of Islamic studies involves not only methodological innovation but also the reformulation of value orientations that shape the purpose and function of knowledge in contemporary Muslim civilization. Keywords: Islamic epistemology, axiology, Mohammed Arkoun, philosophy of science.
