Abstract

Teachers’ limited understanding of how to utilize digital media based on local wisdom results in learning that is not sufficiently contextual and is not yet optimal in fostering environmental awareness among students. This community service activity aims to improve the understanding of teachers at SDN Ngadipuro 03 in utilizing the “Sahabat Lingkungan” digital media—based on the local wisdom of Wonotirto Subdistrict—as a learning resource. The methods used included technical guidance, media usage training, practical exercises, and implementation support in the classroom. Evaluation was conducted through pre-tests and post-tests to measure improvements in teachers’ understanding. The results showed an increase in the average pre-test score from 85,63% to 93,34% on the post-test. In addition to enhancing teachers’ understanding, the “Sahabat Lingkungan” digital media provides a more interactive and contextual learning alternative that is easily integrated with local resources, thereby supporting the strengthening of environmental awareness in elementary schools. Thus, guidance on the use of digital media based on local wisdom has proven effective in improving teachers’ competencies while supporting more meaningful learning experiences.

Abstract

High levels of economic activity in the Kedhung Town Square MSME Park area (Ngadirejo Village, Trenggalek Regency) have led to environmental issues, including increased single-use plastic consumption, poor waste sorting practices, and suboptimal eco-friendly behavior among the community. This Community Service (PKM) initiative aims to strengthen community-based eco-friendly behavior by leveraging digital education for MSME operators, area managers, and the general public. The methods employed included outreach sessions, lectures, discussions, hands-on practice, and mentoring on the creation of social media-based environmental educational content. Program effectiveness was evaluated using pre-tests, post-tests, and participant response questionnaires. Results showed an improvement in participant understanding, evidenced by the rise in average scores from 84.77 in the pre-test to 91.69 in the post-test. Furthermore, participants successfully produced digital posters, short videos, and visual content for environmental campaigns and demonstrated active participation in eco-friendly practices—such as reducing single-use plastics, sorting waste, and using social media for environmental education. This program has positively impacted community awareness and participation in community-based environmental management and holds potential as a model for community empowerment through digital education. Abstract

Abstract

Extrinsic motivation plays a crucial role in fostering student engagement during the learning process, particularly through various stimuli originating from the school environment. This study aims to describe the role of the school environment in supporting the extrinsic motivation of fifth-grade elementary school students. The study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, involving fifth-grade students and teachers as sources of information. Data validity was verified through triangulation of sources and techniques. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the school environment plays a role in supporting students’ extrinsic motivation through five main aspects: reinforcement and appreciation provided by teachers; the application of interactive and varied teaching methods; positive interactions with peers; the enforcement of classroom rules and discipline; and a conducive physical school environment. These various external stimuli encourage students to be more active, focused, and engaged in learning activities. However, some students still rely heavily on guidance, assignments, and reinforcement from teachers, so the development of independent learning initiatives has not been uniform. The research findings indicate that a positive and supportive school environment plays a crucial role in fostering students’ extrinsic motivation and can also be directed to facilitate the gradual development of independent learning.

Abstract

The implementation of inclusive education in primary schools requires teachers to be well-prepared and a support system capable of accommodating the diverse needs of pupils. This study aims to analyse the challenges faced by teachers and the limitations of the support system in the implementation of inclusive education in Year 5 at SDN 2 Sananwetan. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The main informants for the study were the Year 5 teachers, whilst the circumstances of pupils with special educational needs and their interactions with mainstream pupils were observed during the learning process. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. Data validity was checked through triangulation of methods, whilst the data were analysed thematically through a process of data organisation, coding, theme grouping, interpretation and drawing of conclusions. The research findings indicate that the implementation of inclusive education faces challenges in two main dimensions: the pedagogical dimension and the support system dimension. In the pedagogical dimension, teachers experienced difficulties in identifying the academic abilities of pupils with special educational needs who demonstrated limited participation in academic activities, and were not yet optimally implementing differentiated instruction tailored to pupils’ individual needs. In terms of the support system, schools face limitations in teacher training, a lack of Special Needs Support Teachers (GPK), limited continuity of professional support services, and families’ financial constraints in providing additional support. Nevertheless, the classroom social environment is positive, as mainstream pupils are supportive and no evidence of bullying was found based on observations and informant accounts. These findings suggest that positive social acceptance needs to be reinforced through improved teacher competence, adaptive teaching, and a sustainable system of professional support services so that inclusive education can better accommodate the needs of all pupils

Abstract

The Deep Learning approach in education emphasises mindful, meaningful and joyful learning to encourage active engagement and deep understanding among pupils. The success of implementing this approach is greatly influenced by teachers’ ability to design, deliver and evaluate learning in line with pupils’ characteristics. This study aims to describe and analyse teachers’ strategies in implementing a Deep Learning approach based on mindful, meaningful and joyful learning in primary schools. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach and was conducted at UPT SD Negeri Gaprang 01. Data were collected through observation, interviews with the headteacher, teachers and pupils, and documentation. The data were analysed through data reduction, data presentation and drawing of conclusions. The results of the study indicate that mindful learning strategies were implemented by taking into account pupils’ readiness to learn, building focus and awareness of learning, posing prompting questions, and conducting reflection. The ‘meaningful learning’ strategy was applied by linking the subject matter to pupils’ everyday experiences through problem-based learning, simple projects, experiments, observations and discussions. Meanwhile, the ‘joyful learning’ strategy was implemented through educational games, ice-breakers, interactive media, experiments and group activities. Evaluation was carried out by assessing both the learning process and outcomes through observation, reflection, projects, presentations and portfolios. The implementation of these approaches is supported by the Learning Community, KKG, supervision, and guidance from the headteacher. Although there are challenges such as differences in pupils’ abilities, time constraints, and limited facilities, the strategies applied by teachers have succeeded in creating learning that is more pupil-centred, contextual, and interactive.

Abstract

Educational facilities and infrastructure are essential components in creating a safe, comfortable, and effective learning environment. This study aims to describe the condition and utilisation of educational facilities and infrastructure, identify challenges in their management and maintenance, and analyse development priorities at SDN 1 Kademangan. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed. Data were collected through observations, interviews with the headteacher, facilities managers, and class teachers, as well as documentation. Data analysis involved data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while validity was ensured through source and methodological triangulation. The findings show that SDN 1 Kademangan has adequate basic facilities, including classrooms, a library, health and sanitation facilities, sports facilities, and educational technology. These facilities generally support learning, although their condition and utilisation vary. The library lacks digital services and specialised management, while technological equipment such as computers, projectors, and smart TVs is not evenly distributed and requires improved teacher competence for effective use. The school also lacks sufficient disability-friendly facilities, limiting accessibility for inclusive education. Challenges in facilities management include inventory administration, regular maintenance, and prioritising development within limited resources. The study concludes that the effectiveness of educational facilities depends not only on their availability but also on accessibility, utilisation, user competence, and sustainable management. Therefore, infrastructure development should prioritise improving basic facilities, expanding equitable access to educational technology, optimising library services, enhancing accessibility for all learners, and implementing a systematic maintenance programme to better support the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate how the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model affects students’ analytical skills and mathematical problem-solving abilities in fifth-grade students at SDN 2 Ngrambingan. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The research subjects consisted of 40 students divided into two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group, selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through written tests designed to measure students’ analytical skills and mathematical problem-solving abilities. The data were analyzed using Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) after meeting the prerequisite tests of normality and homogeneity. The results indicated that the implementation of the PBL model had a significant effect on students’ analytical skills (p < 0.05), but did not have a significant effect on students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities (p > 0.05). These findings suggest that the PBL model is effective in improving students’ analytical skills in mathematics learning; however, it has not yet been sufficiently effective in enhancing students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities. Therefore, continuous implementation of the PBL model, supported by more challenging problem designs, is required to optimize the development of students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities.
