Abstract

Purpose: Drawing on Organizational Coordination Theory and Human Resource Management perspectives, this study examines the effect of coordination on employee performance at the Percut Sei Tuan Sub-District Office, Deli Serdang Regency. Research Method: A quantitative explanatory design was employed, using a saturated sampling technique that included all 48 employees of the sub-district office. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using validity and reliability tests, simple linear regression, correlation analysis, the coefficient of determination, and t-tests in SPSS. Results and Discussion: The findings indicate that coordination has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. The regression results indicate that improved coordination is associated with higher employee performance (β = 0.453, p = 0.003). The correlation coefficient (r = 0.424) suggests a moderate relationship between the variables, while the coefficient of determination (R² = 0.180) indicates that coordination explains 18% of the variance in employee performance. Implications: The findings highlight the importance of strengthening communication, task integration, and inter-unit collaboration to improve employee performance and the effectiveness of public service. Originality: This study contributes to the public administration literature by providing empirical evidence on the role of coordination in enhancing employee performance within a local government institution.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the effect of leadership, motivation, and work environment on lecturer performance at Politeknik Negeri Media Kreatif Medan. Lecturer performance is an important factor in improving the quality of higher education and institutional competitiveness. Research Method: This study employed a quantitative approach with an associative research design. The population consisted of 32 lecturers using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires using a Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS, including validity and reliability tests, multiple linear regression, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination. Results and Discussion: The results showed that leadership has a significant effect on lecturer performance. Motivation and work environment have positive but insignificant relationships in the multiple linear regression model. Simultaneously, these three variables significantly affect lecturer performance. Implications: The findings indicate the importance of improving leadership quality and work motivation, and of creating a conducive work environment to enhance lecturer performance. Originality: This study provides an empirical contribution by integrating leadership, motivation, and work environment variables into a single research model within vocational education institutions.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the effects of the work environment, organizational commitment, and leadership on lecturers' performance at Politeknik Negeri Media Kreatif PSDKU Medan. Lecturer performance is an important factor in improving the quality of higher education and enhancing institutional competitiveness. Research Method: This study employed a quantitative approach with an associative research design. The population consisted of 35 lecturers, and a saturated sampling technique was used. Data were collected through questionnaires using a Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS, including validity testing, reliability testing, classical assumption testing, multiple linear regression analysis, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²). Results and Discussion: The study indicates that the work environment has a positive but insignificant effect on lecturers' performance. Organizational commitment has a positive and significant effect and is the most dominant variable. Meanwhile, leadership has a negative and insignificant effect on lecturer performance. Simultaneously, these three variables have a significant effect on lecturer performance. Implications: The findings of this study provide implications for higher education institutions to strengthen organizational commitment, improve the quality of the work environment, and develop more adaptive leadership practices. Originality: This study provides an empirical contribution by integrating the variables of work environment, organizational commitment, and leadership into a single research model within vocational higher education institutions.
