Abstract

This research intends to analyze the reading interest of Genshin Impact game players. This research aims to make people more interested in increasing their interest in reading. Because, interest in reading in Indonesia is very low, according to UNESCO data, there is only 0.001% interest in reading in Indonesia. This is certainly a big concern for researchers. Researchers took this case for a study because researchers also want to prove how many online game players have increased their interest in reading because of playing online games, one of which is the Genshin Impact game. Based on the research, the respondents fully believe that they get a lot of positive impacts from playing the Genshin Impact game; get new vocabulary, get lessons from the Genshin Impact storyline, know how to pronounce words correctly from the style of speech to the accent uttered by a Genshin Impact game character. The respondents also admitted that not only did they have fun playing the game, but they also got very good learning.

Abstract

Problem-based learning (PBL) is a powerful pedagogical approach which can be effective in ELT. This research aims at finding out the impact of PBL on speaking skill. The population of this research is the tenth-grade students of SMAN 3 Kabupaten Tangerang with the total 500 students. Furthermore, the research was conducted only on 84 students of 10 IPS 5 and 10 IPS 2 as the sample. Quasi-Experimental was employed to answer the research question. Then the research data is collected through pre-test and post-test. The data of this research was statistically calculated by using SPSS 22. The statistical analysis results indicated that the implementation of PBL had a significant impact on the experimental class. However, the statistical test results for the control class did not show any significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada masyarakat bertujuan untuk memberikan pendampingan belajar bagi masyarakat yang belajar di taman pendidikan Roemah Tawon Tanah Tinggi Kota Tangerang. Sasaran partisipan adalah para siswa sekolah paud dan sekolah dasar di lingkungan tersebut, guna mendapatkan ilmu bahasa asing berupa tambahan vocabulary dengan metode yang menyenangkan, yaitu dengan menggunakan media Flash Card. Dalam kegiatan ini siswa/peserta bermain sekaligus belajar bahasa asing secara berkelompok didampingi dengan dosen dan beberapa mahasiswa. Hasil dari kegiatan ini yaitu anak-anak roemah tawon menjadi termotivasi belajar bahasa inggris, dapat mengucapkan alfabeta, nama hari, nama-nama binatang dengan bahasa inggris menggunakan media Flash Card . Hal ini sangat mengedukasi dan membantu para siswa/pelajar menambah vocabulary bahasa asing. Saat proses kegiatan peserta sangat senang dan mengharapkan keberlanjutan program selanjutnya.

Abstract

Pandemi COVID-19 yang melanda dunia berdampak pada segala aspek kehidupan tak terkecuali dunia pendidikan. Pola pembelajaran tatap muka di sekolah telah bergeser dari pembelajaran tradisoonal tatap muka menjadi pembelajaran jarak jauh yang dilakukan secara online. Penerapan pembelajaran online di masa pandemi memaksa terjadinya transformasi digital dalam dunia pendidikan sehingga menimbulkan beberapa permasalahan, dua di antaranya adalah teknologi dan sumber daya manusia. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat yang dilakukan oleh FKIP Universitas Islam Syekh Yusuf berupa pendampingan belajar siswa sekolah dasar di wilayah Kebon Nanas Kota Tangerang. Lokasi tersebut dipilih berdasarkan laporan dari hasil studi pendahuluan. Metode yang digunakan beruoa ekspositori. Abstract

This study examines the role of Field Experience Practice (PPL) as an experiential learning platform in developing pre-service teachers’ pedagogical skills. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research analyzes how students from Economic Education and English Language Education programs apply lesson planning, classroom management, and assessment skills during PPL at SMA Mutiara Insan Nusantara. Data were gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. Findings indicate that PPL effectively enhances pedagogical competence by linking theory with real teaching experiences. Students successfully implemented student-centered strategies such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Think-Pair-Share (TPS), and role play, improving student engagement and critical thinking. Despite challenges in classroom adaptation, reflective practice proved essential for professional growth. The study concludes that PPL fosters pedagogical excellence and recommends strengthening mentorship, technology integration, and reflective learning to support 21st-century teacher education.

Abstract

  This article presents the analysis of metacognitive strategy and reading comprehension. The result shows that there is not any positive relationship between these variables. Although the metacognitive strategy of students is high, it does not contribute to the improvement of the ability of the students reading comprehension at SMAN 3 Curug in academic year 2019/2020. The research findings shows there is no correlation between metacognitive strategy and reading comprehension of students in SMAN 3 Curug. As the result, the value skills obtained by students was associated with the understanding of the low reading comprehension skills. These conditions also influenced in decreasing metacognitive strategy of the students, because they will feel hopeless with the result obtained. The findings of this research also have implications to the teachers, some efforts given to students by awarding something to students was useless. Therefore, the teachers are expected to try doing another approach to improve the student metacognitive strategy by praising or giving reward in order to appreciate what students done.

Abstract

Enhancing motivation is essential for students in acquiring English vocabulary. The higher motivation the students gain, the bigger success they achieve in mastering vocabulary. However, the majority of students in senior high schools are less motivated to increase their vocabulary mastery. Therefore, the teachers must find the right media that will increase student motivation. Certain applications for vocabulary study can be accessed via a smartphone. The goal of the research is to investigate into the usefulness of using the Quizlet application as a tool to enhance the motivation of learners to learn vocabulary. This type of research is Quasi-Experimental with quantitative methods. The researcher used multiple choice tests and questionnaire. The participants were 72 students who were divided into the experimental and the control groups. In processing the data, the independent samples t-tests used to collect the data. The findings indicate that using the Quizlet Application to enhance students' motivation in learning vocabulary is helpful. Students were more enthusiastic, did not get bored fast, and as a result showed a high level of interest when learning vocabulary with Quizlet.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of picture series on students' writing abilities and to determine their responses to the use of picture series in improving the ability to write recount texts in class X SMA Daarul Muttaqien 2 in the academic year 2022/2023. This study used quantitative methods with pre-experimental design. The samples used in this study were 48 students in the experimental class. Data were collected by using the test (pre-test and post-test) and questionnaire. Data analysis done by using Shapiro-Wilk showed the value of Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) was 0.000, less than 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the working hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, while the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. This means that the use of picture series had a significant effect on improving students' writing ability. The findings indicated that using the pictures series helped students improve writing ability, especially to decrease error rates of word placement. It made students more confident and enjoyed English writing texts due to the use of picture series as an effective medium in learning. As a result, it is advised for English teachers to choose relevant picture series to meet the objectives to improve students' writing abilities.
