Abstract

Evaluation is an important role in education to assess the extent to which learning objectives have been achieved. In this context, the role of the teacher is crucial in designing evaluations. According to the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Year 2005 Article 10 Paragraph 1, evaluating the assessment tools that have been prepared is part of the teacher's pedagogical competence. This means that teachers must be able to design and assess evaluation tools to ensure that learning objectives are effectively achieved. In drafting test items, there are various levels of difficulty. Anderson and Krathwohl divide them into three levels: LOTS, MOTS, and HOTS. The type of research used is library research. The data source for this research is the final exam questions for the odd semester of the Arabic language subject for the 2023/2024 academic year on 7th grade in Islamic Junior High School 5 Nganjuk, East Java. The analysis method used to analyze this discussion is a qualitative analysis method using content analysis. The results of the study show that: 1) some questions still focus on LOTS and MOTS levels, with more LOTS and MOTS questions included than HOTS questions, thus requiring re-formulation. 2) From the analysis conducted, it was found that there are 25 LOTS questions, 23 MOTS questions, and 2 HOTS questions, and it was noted that the included HOTS questions lack variety.

Abstract

Writing proficiency (maharah kitabah) is a fundamental yet demanding component of Arabic language education. In pesantren contexts, where tradition and discipline are central, effective assessment strategies remain underexplored. This study investigates the best practices in implementing summative assessment for Arabic writing at Pondok Pesantren Modern Ar-Rahmah Kediri. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through classroom observation, interviews, and document analysis. The study identified three significant best practices: (1) the contextual use of imla’ al-istima’i (auditory dictation) as a summative tool that simultaneously assesses listening and writing skills; (2) the integration of formative and summative assessments to scaffold students' learning progress systematically; and (3) the application of standardized, transparent rubrics to ensure fairness and clarity in evaluation. These practices collectively foster writing accuracy, vocabulary enrichment, grammatical mastery, and learner autonomy. Despite these strengths, a notable percentage of students remain below the expected proficiency level, indicating a need for enhanced remedial support. Future research should explore how digital tools and AI-driven feedback systems can further optimize these best practices and promote scalable, individualized Arabic writing assessments.

Abstract

Most non-native students regard Nahwu as the most challenging subject. at Markaz Arabiyah, Nahwu teaching still applies a conventional method namely the lecture method and uses a few media. Therefore, the researcher offers an alternative method as a solution to solve the problems. In this case, this research aimed to know the influence of Brain Storming method based on Mathematical-Logical intelligence on student's competence in Nahwu subject. The method of this study is experimental with Quasi-Experimental Design which used Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The population consisting of 30 students of which 14 students are from the control class and 16 students are from the experimental one. The strategy of data collection used in this study consisted of test. The data analysis used a t-test. The result of this study showed that independent data of the T-Test Sample, it could be known that the Significance Value (2-Tailed) is 0,021 < 0,05 which meant that there were significant differences between the average of the experimental class and the control one. The influence and effectivity level of that method is taken from the N Gain Score test which showed 45,19% for the experimental class and 29,73% for the control class. It meant that the Brain Storming method is effective enough, while the conventional one is not effective

Abstract

During the past decades, Qiroatul Kutub has been adopted as the learning model, therefore, this study is aimed to explore the development of the Qiroatul Kutub model using the Plickers application and the feasibility of it. Driven by Borg and Galls model of research and development (RnD), the researchers collected the data through documentation of 35 University students including expert assessments of learning method, materials and media. The expert validity test is based on 3 aspects of the module, learning model, and learning media using five scale analysis techniques, namely very good to very poor. From the expert validity test, an average score of 3.7 (A) was obtained, which was very good in terms of modules, learning models, and learning media, while the limited test to 32 student respondents obtained 3.8 (A) or very well from 3 aspects. Then after the revision, field testing was carried out and got an average score of 4 (A) or very good with an increase in student achievement from the pre-test and post-test results of 19.15%, indicating that the development of this learning model is very feasible to use. Drawing on the findings, this study provided an insightful finding on the adoption of Plickers application in Arabic reading skills. Thus, the teacher could incorporate this application to gain better students reading skills.
