Abstract

Piyungan Muhammadiyah High School is the only private high school in Piyungan District. To get students into PPDB, this school has to compete with two high schools, namely Piyungan 1 Public High School and Banguntapan State High School, as well as four vocational high schools, namely Budhi Dharma Piyungan Vocational School, Maarif Vocational School 1 Piyungan, Maarif 2 Piyungan Vocational School and Piyungan Muhammadiyah Vocational School. Compared to its competitors, SMA Muhammadiyah Piyungan still needs to have a positioning differentiator because the SBM development plan relied on a positioning that cannot be realized for PPDB 2022. For this reason, we formed a school radio extracurricular through workshops on writing scripts for air magazines and grants for mini radio station infrastructure. The implementation method we use is Observation, Pre-test & Post-test, Workshop and Radio station installation. Our findings are an increase in students' understanding of UGC, an increase in experience in writing air magazine scripts, an increase in awareness of the potential for schools to become UGC and an increase in students' abilities in making air magazines. School radio can be applied as positioning for SMA Muhammadiyah Piyungan.

Abstract

Film production is a collaborative work process that involves many workers. Proper management is needed to achieve effective and efficient production results. Organizing is the second function of management work. The film production workers are divided into several departments, one of which is the camera department. In this department, all visual matters are accounted for. Director of Photography (DP) is the leader. Data collection in this research was carried out through archive studies, observations, and interviews. This article discusses how DP symbolically interacted in certain pattern with directors, producers, and crew in the camera department. The discussion uses the five concepts of Blumer's symbolic interaction, namely self-concept, the concept of action; object concept; the concept of social interaction; and the concept of joint action. The results of the discussion from this study indicate that the DP interacts with the director through productive self-appearances, has improved visual aesthetic achievements, and masters the latest equipment through works uploaded on social media. The action shown by the DP to the director as the boss is communicated using the concept language and his efforts to the camera department crew as subordinates are communicated using technical language. The DP interacts with the producer through a work contract; The DP interacts socially symbolically with the broader community through language selection that is adapted to the working environment. Finally, the DP interacts through collective action, working together with one department worker and between departments in a production process so that they can work together to produce a film.

Abstract

The Muhammadiyah Gamping Special School (SLB) in Sleman is an inclusive school founded in 2012. The Muhammadiyah Gamping SLB was built to facilitate a place of learning for children who have deficiencies or disabilities. The problems faced by SLB Muhammadiyah Gamping are not yet known to the public and have never been reported by the media. In fact, inclusive schools are a necessity for some members of society. The solution to the problems faced by SLB Muhammadiyah Gamping is to develop publications about the school's work through mass media. The science and technology used in this service are user-generated content technology and digital journalism. Activities were carried out with digital journalism workshops and operational assistance for user-generated content. Sustainability means that the school can continue to write news after the service is completed. The implementation results exceeded the target with 28 news stories, from the initial target of 12 news stories for the SLB Muhammadiyah Gamping journalism brand.

Abstract

Abracadabra is a 2020 Indonesian fantasy comedy-drama film with a magic theme, directed by Faozan Rizal. The success of this movie lies not only in the interesting storyline but also in the ability to build a fantasy world that looks alive and charming through makeup and costumes. The movie won the best makeup and costume award at the Indonesian Film Festival (FFI). This research aims to identify the role of makeup and costume artists in creating theatrical mise en scene in the fantasy film Abracadabra. The method used in this research is descriptive-qualitative. Data collection techniques include interviews, documentation, and observation. This research uses three stages in analyzing data: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. In testing the validity of the data, researchers used source triangulation, which means comparing and rechecking data from more than one source, to ascertain whether the data is correct or not. The results of this study show that in creating theatrical mise en scene, of course, there are things that are done by makeup and costume artists in the pre-production and post-production stages. Makeup and costume artists are responsible for all creative aspects, including designing the overall makeup and costume concept of the film. To create theatrical mise en scene through makeup and costumes, considerations are needed, such as the use of certain colors or designs to create a stage or theatrical impression, so it can be concluded that the role of makeup and costume artists is very important to create a fantasy world in accordance with the concept of the film Abracadabra and give the impression to the audience more intensely with the story presented.

Abstract

This study aims to examine violations of the Indonesian Advertising Ethics (EPI) in the advertising content of Gatotkoco coffee products uploaded on the Instagram account @gatotkocoid. The research highlights the need to understand the application of ethics in the rapidly growing digital advertising landscape. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with documentation and literature review methods, the findings reveal violations of Article 1.26 of the EPI, which prohibits the exploitation of sexuality in advertisements. These violations are evident in visuals and narratives that are irrelevant to the product but highlight suggestive sexual elements. This study underscores the importance of understanding and applying advertising ethics to prevent negative impacts such as the normalization of gender exploitation and negative public perception of the brand. The findings contribute to the literature on advertising ethics and offer recommendations for industry practitioners to create more socially responsible advertisements.

Abstract

Documentary films face challenges in distribution, especially in reaching a wider audience. This study analyzes the distribution strategy of the documentary film "YK48," funded by the Yogyakarta Special Fund (Danais) by Pehagengsi. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies. The study results show that the distribution strategy of "YK48" focuses on community screenings as the main channel, supported by film festivals, social media, and collaboration with alternative screening spaces. This community-based approach allows the film to reach more audiences even though it does not prioritize distribution in cinemas or digital platforms. The film won an award at the 2023 Tanah Lado Film Fest and received a recommendation from the Indonesian Film Festival (FFI). This study confirms that a community-based distribution strategy can be an effective model for independent filmmakers to expand the reach of documentary films in Indonesia.

Abstract

Dukun Subdistrict is one of the areas with a high level of vulnerability to Mount Merapi eruptions. The low understanding of technical disaster mitigation terms among rural communities, particularly those in the KRB III (Third Zone of Disaster-Prone Area), served as the foundation for implementing the "Layar Merapi" program. This community service initiative utilizes open-air cinema screenings, combined with educational sessions and performances of local cultural arts, to foster disaster preparedness. The program was conducted in six villages, employing an educational, participatory, and culture-based approach. The results indicate that this initiative successfully increased the community's collective understanding of disaster mitigation and strengthened social networks among village residents.
