Abstract

YouTube is an online video site that provides a variety of information in the form of moving and reliable images. Many users access YouTube to find out how to do certain things, such as cooking demos, how to use applications in a computer or smartphone, recycle garbage, practical ways to do things that are initially complicated or ineffective, hone various skills and so on. This is a descriptive qualitative research employing non probability technique, a type of snowball sampling. The ingredients used for making brownies are eggs, baking soda, vanilla, sugar, wheat flour, cocoa powder, oil and water. In the process of steaming the brownies, heat transfer occurs in the form of conduction, convection and radiation and chemical changes also occur in brownies dough into well-cooked brownies cake. This research aims to find out to what extent the family knowledge in using YouTube as a source of information on science in the kitchen. The results obtained by YouTube can easily be accessed by the public. It is also often used by the public to look for recipes because there is a detailed explanation. After watching the video about brownies making, the insights gained about science in the kitchen increased.

Abstract

Bath soap and electricity are people's daily needs. Skills in making bath soap and biobatteries (producing electricity) are expected to reduce public expenses every month. On the other hand, organic waste (pamelo orange peel) is found in Sunan Muria religious tourism area. This has the potential to be used as a basic ingredient for soap and bioelectricity because it is a natural ingredient that is safe to use. The target of this assistance is science teacher and MTs NU student Raden Umar. This is because students have knowledge of these basic materials obtained from learning science but cannot process them into useful products. This successfully made product can later be used by family members of the student. This mentoring activity consists of stages of preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Interviews and documentation are conducted at each stage, then analyzed descriptively. The results obtained through this assistance are: 1) the students have been able to make soap and biobatteries well despite the obstacles in using practicum tools and 2) the madrasah is satisfied with the implementation of this mentoring activity. The follow-up of this activity is the madrasah compiling an extracurricular activity program containing research activities based on local potential in the Kudus area. In addition, Tadris IPA IAIN Kudus became an expert staff in the organizational structure of these extracurricular activities.

Abstract

 The laboratory is one of the academic facilities contained in an educational institution. The benefits of the laboratory being used in scientific activities and searching for valid data related to the type of practicum-based learning. In educational institutions there are several types of laboratories such as laboratories (IPA, Engineering, Computers), in the current era laboratories can develop rapidly towards science and technology. In the management of the laboratory premises there are provisions and recommendations that are applied. One of the applications in the laboratory is to provide safety & health directions. Health in the health laboratory related to each individual is related to the practicum, because health problems caused by chemicals result in disruption of productivity levels. Laboratory work safety is the use of personal protective equipment available in the laboratory to protect individuals from the dangers of practices carried out in the laboratory.

Abstract

Sebagai upaya menanamkan kecintaan siswa madrasah terhadap riset dan optimalisasi pemanfaatan potensi lokal di lereng gunung Muria dapat dilakukan dengan cara mengembangkan madrasah berbasis riset. Melalui program madrasah berbasis riset STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematic), diharapkan masyarakat di sekitar madrasah lebih memahami cara mengoptimalkan potensi lokal tersebut. Sampel pengabdian yang dipilih yaitu Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) NU Raden Umar Said yang berlokasi di lereng gunung muria. Metode pengabdian dilakukan dengan tiga tahap yaitu tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Hasil pengabdian yang diperoleh 1) limbah kulit jeruk pamelo dapat dijadikan bahan dasar pembuatan sabun dan biobaterai, 2) para siswa antusias dalam pembelajaran riset STEM, tetapi keterampilan menggunakan alat praktikum masih rendah, dan 3) madrasah membuat program ekstrakurikuler riset STEM berbasis potensi lokal di gunung Muria. Melalui kegiatan ini, MTs NU Raden Umar Sa’id dapat menjadi pioner madrasah riset di gunung Muria. Dengan demikian, diharapkan dapat mencontoh madrasah di sekitarnya.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the feasibility and practicality of a science virtual laboratory oriented towards Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) using Articulate Storyline. The research employed a Design and Development Research (DDR) approach based on the ADDIE model, comprising the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data were collected using validation questionnaires completed by six experts in content and media, along with user responses from 37 pre-service science teachers. The results were analyzed descriptively to determine the feasibility and practicality categories of the developed product. Content expert evaluations yielded average scores of 3.78 for presentation, 3.83 for content quality, 3.70 for language use, and 4.00 for HOTS orientation, all categorized as valid. Media expert evaluations resulted in average scores of 3.73 for software engineering, 3.83 for instructional design, 3.67 for visual communication, and 3.56 for virtual laboratory components, all falling within the valid and usable range. Meanwhile, user responses indicated a practicality percentage of 87.79%, categorized as very practical. The structured practical activities and post-practice evaluation tasks provided within the virtual laboratory effectively contributed to enhancing the Higher Order Thinking Skills of pre-service science teachers.Keywords: articulate storyline, higher order thinking skills, pre-service science teachers, virtual science laboratory,

Abstract

The objective of this work is to enhance students' conceptual understanding by creating instructional materials based on the DARTs (Directed Activities Related to Texts) approach. The DARTs approach was selected because it may engage students in deep comprehension of scientific materials by assigning tasks including rearranging texts, filling in the blanks, and sequencing information. This study use the ADDIE model along with the research and development methodology. Thirty-five science education students enrolled in history and philosophy of science courses served as the study's subjects. Data collection instruments included concept understanding exams, student response questionnaires administered following instruction, and material and media expert validation questionnaires. According to the analysis's findings, the validator considered the instructional materials feasible in the following areas: the technical aspect received an average score of 3.6 with fairly good criteria, the construction aspect received an average score of 4 with a good category, and the didactic aspect received an average feasibility value of 3.9 with a good category. With very feasible criteria, the media expert's feasibility was 90%. The student response questionnaire yielded 94.05 in the material aspect, 91.22 in the presenting aspect, 92.29 in the graphics aspect, and 96.90 in the language aspect. The very practical category includes all four elements. The pretest and posttest were used to gauge the students' conceptual knowledge; the moderate criteria yielded an N-Gain score of 0.47. This demonstrates how incorporating DARTs approach into teaching materials for history and philosophy of science improves students' conceptual comprehension.

Abstract

Laboratorium sangat erat kaitannya dengan pembelajaran IPA bagi mahasiswa. Laboratorium yang aman memliki fasilitas yang cukup dan sesuai standart dalam keselamatan dan keamanan kerja dengan begitu maka akan semakin sedikit kemungkinan terjadinya kecelakaan saat  berada dilaboratorium. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan keselamatan dan keamanan kerja (K3) di laboratorium IPA. Banyak yang menganggap remeh tentang bahaya di laboratorium IPA yang relative sedikit karena penggunaan bahan kimi yang relative sedikit. Penelitian ini bertempat di laboratorium  IPA kampus IAIN Kudus dengan responden berjumlah 30 mahasiswa tadris IPA semester enam. Pemilihan responden tersebut dikarenakan pada mahasiswa semester enam sudah mendapatkan mata kuliah yang berkaitan dengan laboratorium. Metode penelitiannya menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menceritakan suatu keadaan atau kondisi. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa tingkat pengetahuan K3 (keamanan dan keselamatan kerja) “Cukup Baik” hal tersebut terlihat dari hasil jawaban responden mengenai keselamatan dan keamanan kerja saat berada di laboratorium.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merealisasikan konsep sains populer dari anime Dr. Stone ke dalam eksperimen nyata dan mengintegrasikannya ke dalam media pembelajaran kontekstual. Produk utama yang dikembangkan adalah sabun padat berbahan dasar kalsium oksida (CaO), natrium karbonat (Na₂CO₃), dan natrium hidroksida (NaOH), yang dibuat melalui reaksi saponifikasi di laboratorium. Metode penelitian yang digunakan mengadaptasi model 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), namun hanya dilaksanakan sampai tahap Develop. Proses pembuatan sabun dikombinasikan dengan penyusunan LKPD berbasis proyek pada materi asam basa. Kelayakan media dinilai melalui validasi ahli materi, ahli media, serta uji organoleptik oleh responden pengguna. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa sabun memiliki pH 9,0 yang sesuai dengan standar keamanan kulit. Sebagian besar responden menilai sabun layak digunakan, dengan catatan perbaikan pada aspek visual. Validasi terhadap sabun, LKPD, dan materi menunjukkan bahwa seluruh komponen masuk kategori "layak" hingga "layak tanpa revisi". Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa prinsip-prinsip ilmiah dalam media populer seperti anime dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran nyata, serta memberikan alternatif media kontekstual yang mendekatkan sains dengan dunia peserta didik.

Abstract

Permasalahan sampah menjadi salah satu masalah umum yang harus dihadapi masyarakat.  Dalam upaya mengatasi permasalahan ini masyarakat khususnya anggota gubug warna menjadi salah satu komponen penting yang tak dapat diabaikan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan peran anggota gubug warna dalam kegiatan sedekah sampah sebagai upaya mengatasi permasalahan sampah di desa Gebog Kudus. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah participatory Action research (PAR) yang bertujuan untuk pembelajaran dalam mengatasi masalah dan pemenuhan praktis masyarakat dan produksi ilmu pengetahuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembentukan agen pelestari lingkungan yang dilakukan di tahap awal dalam kegiatan sosialisasi dan workshop cukup efektif untuk mengatasi permasalahan sampah yang terjadi di kecamatan Gebog. Permasalahan sampah yang terjadi di Kecamatan Gebog mengalami penurunan yang dibuktikan dengan semakin sedikitnya sampah yang dihasilkan masyarakat.

Abstract

As an effort to instill the love of madrasah students for research and optimize the utilization of local potential on the slopes of Mount Muria, it can be done by developing research-based madrasahs. Through the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematic) research-based madrasah program, it is hoped that the community around the madrasah will better understand how to optimize the local potential. The selected service sample was Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) NU Raden Umar Said located on the slopes of Mount Muria. The service method is carried out in three stages, namely the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The results of the dedication obtained 1) pamelo orange peel waste can be used as a basic material for making soap and biobatteries, 2) the students are enthusiastic about learning STEM research, but the skills to use practicum tools are still low, and 3) the madrasah creates an extracurricular STEM research program based on local potential in Mount Muria. Through this activity, MTs NU Raden Umar Sa'id can become a pioneer of research madrassas on Mount Muria. Thus, it is expected to emulate the surrounding madrassahs.
