Abstract

Rarely getting achievements in the field of physics in the Madrasah Science Competition (KSM) since 2018, is a problem experienced by Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Muwahidun. Through KSM assistance activities in the field of physics with the Islamic Contextual Teaching and Learning (ICTL) approach, it is hoped that students' competitive attitudes and ability to solve problems will increase. In addition, students are able to achieve the highest rankings. This activity is carried out in three stages, namely: preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The preparatory stage carried out includes 1) analyzing the grid, looking for Qur'anic verses related to physics, 3) compiling teaching materials and selection questions, and 4) analyzing the previous year's physics KSM questions. The implementation phase carried out includes 1) student selection, 2) guidance activities, 3) trial tests, and 4) district-level KSM tests. The final stage is carried out by evaluating the process of the beginning to the end of the activity. The results obtained that after the mentoring activities, namely 1) competitive attitude and 2) the ability to solve questions owned by students has increased. In addition, the results of the district-level physics KSM test ranked 1st. This is supported by students understanding the meaning of Qur'anic verses and Islamic applications about science obtained from the subjects of Al Burhan, History of Islamic Progress, Fiqih, Ushul Fiqih, and Adab.

Abstract

Fokus penelitian ini  adalah mengkaji lamanya waktu yang dibutuhkan untuk pengomposan. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dalam pengolahan sampah organic. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam waktu 30 hari pengomposan sudah menunjukkan ciri-ciri kematangan ditandai dengan berwarna cokelat kehitaman yang menyerupai tanah, memiliki bau khas seperti tanah tidak menyengat  maupun mengeluarkan  bau busuk, mengalami penyusutan volume dan penurunan kadar air. Pengomposan dengan bantuan EM4 (Effective Microorganism) dapat mempercepat dalam waktu pembuatan kompos dibandingkan dengan cara konvensional.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi siswa kelas VII MTs Nahdatul Muslimin Kabupaten Kudus pada materi perubahan fisika dan kimia menggunakan Certainty of Response Index (CRI). Miskonsepsi adalah ketidaksesuaian pemahaman siswa dengan konsep ahli dan sulit diubah jika tidak terdeteksi. Subjek penelitian 23 siswa yang dipilih melalui purposive sampling. Instrumen tes tertulis 30 soal pilihan ganda dilengkapi skala CRI (1-4). Uji validitas menunjukkan 25 soal valid, dan reliabilitas instrumen sangat tinggi (0.981). Hasil analisis menunjukkan 44,5% siswa mengalami miskonsepsi. Miskonsepsi terbesar terjadi pada soal mengenai penyubliman kapur barus (No. 6), air mendidih (No. 14), peristiwa sehari-hari termasuk pembakaran kertas (No. 21), dan kaca pecah (No. 29), dengan persentase 50%-90%. Siswa cenderung menganggap perubahan wujud atau bentuk sebagai perubahan kimia karena adanya panas, gas, atau ketidakmampuan kembali ke bentuk semula, tanpa memahami bahwa zat baru tidak terbentuk. Miskonsepsi ini sering berakar pada prakonsepsi siswa. Disarankan penguatan konsep melalui demonstrasi dan praktikum untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan mengatasi miskonsepsi.

Abstract

As an effort to instill the love of madrasah students for research and optimize the utilization of local potential on the slopes of Mount Muria, it can be done by developing research-based madrasahs. Through the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematic) research-based madrasah program, it is hoped that the community around the madrasah will better understand how to optimize the local potential. The selected service sample was Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) NU Raden Umar Said located on the slopes of Mount Muria. The service method is carried out in three stages, namely the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The results of the dedication obtained 1) pamelo orange peel waste can be used as a basic material for making soap and biobatteries, 2) the students are enthusiastic about learning STEM research, but the skills to use practicum tools are still low, and 3) the madrasah creates an extracurricular STEM research program based on local potential in Mount Muria. Through this activity, MTs NU Raden Umar Sa'id can become a pioneer of research madrassas on Mount Muria. Thus, it is expected to emulate the surrounding madrassahs.

Abstract

This study aims to identify student misconceptions related to the concept of metabolism in biochemistry. The method used is a descriptive quantitative approach with a three-tier diagnostic test approach: answer choices, reasons, and level of confidence. The research subjects were students who have taken or are currently taking biochemistry. The main instrument was a three-tier diagnostic test. Data were collected through in-person and online test distribution. The data analysis technique used a combination of the three tiers to determine misconception patterns. Then, the three questions with the highest level of misconceptions were analyzed to find the causes of misconceptions. The classification of answer combinations in the three-tier diagnostic test was determined based on the results of answers at all levels. The results indicated that misconceptions were still found in several important concepts, such as the role of oxygen in cellular respiration and the comparison of energy produced by macronutrients. Some students believed that oxygen plays a direct role in preventing glucose or that carbohydrates produce the most energy simply because they are the main energy source.

Abstract

This study aims to identify misconceptions among prospective science teachers regarding five basic science concepts, namely force and motion, energy and its transformations, heat and its transfer, simple electricity, and photosynthesis, using the Three-Tier Diagnostic Test instrument. The research method used is quantitative descriptive with a diagnostic survey conducted on 20 second-semester students from the Science Education program at IAIN Kudus. The results indicate a high level of misconceptions in all concepts, with the highest percentage found in the concepts of force and motion (56.0%) and energy and its transformations (57.1%). These findings suggest a lack of proper conceptual understanding among prospective teachers, which may affect the science learning process. The use of the Three-Tier Diagnostic Test has proven effective in distinguishing misconceptions from ignorance. Therefore, it is recommended to develop interactive learning methods and periodic evaluations to address misconceptions and improve the mastery of science concepts among prospective teachers.
