Abstract

The Indonesian economy cannot be separated from interaction with the economies of other countries, so changes in global conditions will also affect the Indonesian economy. A significant investment is needed to drive the domestic economy, while domestic capital accumulation is still insufficient. The relationship between savings and investment put forward by Feldstein and Horioka (FH) was reviewed for the case of Indonesia from 1981 to 2020. The VECM found a long-term and short-term relationship and a bidirectional Granger causality between saving and investment. The strength of the saving-investment correlation confirms the validity of the FH hypothesis in Indonesia.

Abstract

Household waste is the most common type of waste produced as a side effect of human activities. In its development, the handling of this waste problem cannot only rely on the government but there needs to be another alternative in the form of community empowerment in managing household waste through the application of composter techniques. By using a composter, besides reducing waste generation, it also helps maintain the capacity of the landfill and can create new sources of income for households. This service activity aims to educate the public about waste and its processing. The locus of this activity is RT 05 Bentiring Village, Bengkulu City, using the extension method. This community service activity has succeeded in changing the community's paradigm in managing household waste and encouraging the application of composting techniques at home.

Abstract

This study investigates whether the effect of corruption, financial deepening, and inflation on economic growth exists employing panel regression of 10 provinces on the island of Sumatra over the period 2012-2020. Using the fixed effect model as the best model, the results confirm that between corruption, financial deepening, inflation and economic growth, a simultan relationship exists. Moreover, the FEM panel regression estimations indicate that corruption does not significantly affect economic growth, whereas financial deepening and inflation positively affect economic growth. The policy implication is that, for every province in Sumatra Island, boosting financial deepening and inflation can help promote economic growth. The policy effects are related to the prosperity of different regions.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to test and analyze how Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves were affected by imports, exports, inflation, and foreign debt. Regarding the relationship between Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves and imports, exports, inflation, and foreign debt for the 2019–2023 timeframe, there is a gap between theory and empirical data, which makes this study noteworthy. In order to regulate it and preserve economic stability, it is crucial to constantly track the movement of foreign exchange reserves. Data for the study were taken from official publications of Bank Indonesia (BI), the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), and the Indonesian Economic and Financial Statistics (SEKI). Monthly data was gathered for the study between 2019 and 2023. Using time series data for the 2019–2023 period, including monthly data and up to 60 series data, the sampling was carried out in Indonesia. using conventional hypothesis testing (t, f, and determination tests) and assumption checking (multicollinearity, normality, and heterokedasitas tests) to estimate multiple linear regression. While imports, exports, inflation, and foreign debt are independent factors, foreign exchange reserves are the dependent variable. The results of the study show that the dependent variable is influenced by two independent variables. Foreign exchange reserves are positively impacted by exports, but negatively by inflation. Furthermore, imports and foreign debt have no effect on foreign exchange reserves, making them independent variables that do not affect the dependent variable.

Abstract

This community service activity (PPM) was carried out with the issue of Digital Money in Financial Transactions in Jambu Village, Central Bengkulu Regency. The activity was attended by 20 participants from the Talang Jambu Village Community. This activity was motivated by the fact that many people still do not understand digital money and the distance of public banks from villages means that economic activities are often hampered. In this activity, people can understand the need for technology in finance and payment tools so that economic transactions can continue to be carried out even if they do not have cash. Digital money also makes the transaction process easier because there is no need for direct face-to-face contact between sellers and buyers so economic activity can run more massively and conductively.

Abstract

Palm fruit extract curry is modified from banga soup originating from Africa. Palm fruit extract curry is made from palm fruit extract obtained through an extraction process and added with spices. Curry uses a protein source to increase its nutritional content. The community service developed this curry as a nutritious food for pregnant mothers, breastfeeding mothers, and future pregnant mothers to prevent stunting in their children. The stunting problem occurs in Rindu Hati Village, Central Bengkulu. Stunting is a condition where children experience chronic malnutrition starting from the first 1,000 days of their lives. The service activity aims to provide knowledge and skills for the target audiences regarding cooking palm fruit extract curry and establishing mothers’ groups. The service activity method was implemented through practice, an organoleptic test, and group formation. The result showed the most liked formula, namely 1B (chicken and tempeh). Three groups were formed in Rindu Hati Village to prevent stunting in each of their communities.
