Abstract

Muhammad al-Ghazali is a figure who is quite controversial with his work al-Sunnah al-Nabawiyyah baina Ahl al-Fiqh wa Ahl al-Hadith, where there are those who give a positive appreciation of the hermeneutics of hadith he offers, but there are also those who accuse him of being incar al-Sunnah. Therefore, it is very important to study the hermeneutic thought of Muhammad al-Ghazali's hadith, in this case it is focused on the traditions about singing which are still being debated whether or not it should be done in Islam in the contemporary era. The results of this research can be concluded that the hermeneutics of the hadith of Muhammad al-Ghazali regarding the hadiths regarding singing must be measured from the four criteria of authenticity of the hadiths, namely: 1) the observations of the hadith of the chant do not contradict Al-Qur'an Surah Luqman verse 6; 2) the observance of the singing hadith does not contradict other sahih traditions of the same theme; 3) the observance of the hadith of singing is in accordance with the historical fact that the Prophet praised the melodious voice of Abu Musa al-Asy'ari when reading the al-Qur'an while singing it; 4) the observance of the chanting hadith is in accordance with scientific truth that it can cause different psychological echoes and influences. Singing or listening to songs that have a noble meaning and a good melody is permissible. However, if the poetry and rhythm lead to immorality accompanied by things that are forbidden such as khamr and other heinous acts, then that is not allowed.

Abstract

This paper discusses the phenomenon of the living qur'an and hadith on the ruqyah scene in the film“Ruqyah: The Exorcism” which MD Pictures, Dee Company and Pichouse Films produced in 2017. The film “Ruqyah: The Exorcism” is a religious horror genre film where in each scene there is a phenomenon of the living qur'an and hadith in the form of the use of verses. Al-Qur'an and Hadith of the Prophet in the ruqyah ritual. Therefore, to find out the functional reception of the verses of the Qur'an and the hadith of the Prophet used in the film "Ruqyah: The Exorcism" is to use the theory of functional reception introduced by Ahmad Rafiq. The results of this study are: 1) during the ruqyah process, Ustadz recites the holy verses of the Qur'an in the form of Surah al-Fatihah/1:1-7 and Surah al-Baqarah/2:255 and the hadith of the Prophet no.. 3514 in the Book of Sunan Ibn Majah, the Book of Medicine, the chapter which the Prophet saw as a means of protection. 2) Functional reception on the informative aspect contains the majesty of Allah and the potential of humans who can face the jinn. While the functional reception is in the performative aspect; namely, the jinn in the human body cannot hide and commit deceit, and the jinn can be removed from the human body.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This article presents a study examining the use of Jawi and Latin scripts in Muhammad Basiuni Imran's Quran tafseer (commentary) in Sambas. The study employed historical research, where the data was collected through literature study. The results of this study suggest that the use of Jawi and Latin script was related to the different backgrounds of reader segmentation as well as Muhammad Basiuni Imran's stance towards Dutch colonialism. In practical terms, Tafsir Tujuh Surah and Ayat as-Siyam, written in Jawi script, were explicitly written for the Malay community in the Sambas Sultanate, who were only able to read Jawi. On the other hand, al-Ibanatoe wal Inshafoe, written in Latin script, was intended for a wider Indonesian audience, who were able to read Latin script. The choice of script also influenced the thematic content of Muhammad Basiuni Imran's Quranic tafseer. The Tafsir Tujuh Surah and Ayat as-Siyam, composed in Jawi script, were primarily characterized by explanations of well-known verses and surahs that are routinely recited during prayers, thereby necessitating their comprehension by the Malay community within the Sambas Sultanate. On the other hand, al-Ibanatoe wal Inshafoe, written in Latin script, predominantly contained explanations on the contemporary conflicts and debates within the Malay and Indonesian Muslim communities over religious issues. This was designed to facilitate a wider comprehension among the general populace, thereby fostering unity within the Muslim community. From an academic perspective, the utilization of these two scripts indicates Muhammad Basiuni Imran's moderate stance, embodying a symbolic form of resistance against Dutch colonialism. This study further reinforces the concept of religious moderation in Indonesia, specifically via the usage of Jawi and Latin script in Muhammad Basiuni Imran's tafseer in Sambas. Kata kunci: Aksara Jawi, Aksara Latin, Tafsir al-Qur’an, Muhammad Basiuni Imran

Abstract

This paper discusses the issue of one of the syar'i dowries in the form of memorizing the Qur'an which is increasingly used by married couples as a dowry in their marriage. In response to this, there are differences of opinion, some are pro and some are contra, of course it is very much influenced by the understanding of the hadith text. Therefore, it is very important to review the understanding of the hadith text by using the ma'anil hadith study. The conclusion is that mahar syar'i, in the form of teaching the Qur'an, is better understood than memorizing the Qur'an, because dowry should be something that can be judged. During the time of the Prophet Muhammad, various forms of dowry were carried out in honor of the wife by adjusting men's abilities, including 50 dirhams worth of household furniture, a gold seed, armor, freeing slaves and a pair of sandals. Of the various variations of the dowry, all of them have value and can be useful for the bride so that the form or amount of the dowry is very flexible according to the appropriateness of society and men's abilities. Thus, mahar syar'i is not only in the form of reading or memorizing the Qur'an.

Abstract

This article discusses the tradition of reading Surah Yasin on the night of Nisfu Sya'ban at Surau al-Ikhlas, East Pontianak, West Kalimantan. In its implementation, Surah Yasin is recited three times, then continued with the recitation of the Apostle's prayer and a serving of yellow pulut on top of which is placed grilled chicken. Therefore, to find out the meaning of this tradition is to use Karl Mannheim's theory of the sociology of knowledge. The data sources were obtained from interviews with the management or chief executive and the Imam who led the reading as well as direct observations in the field. The results of this research are: 1) the objective meaning from the perspective of the Surau al-Ikhlas congregation, namely preserving the traditions of previous elders as a form of obedience to the cleric named KH. Yunus Mohan found his handwritten notes which were used as a reference. 2) the expressive meaning in the view of the Surau al-Ikhlas congregation, namely as a cure for all diseases, asking for determination of faith, asking for long life and lots of halal sustenance. 3) the documentary meaning of the tradition of reading Surah Yasin on the night of Nisfu Sya'ban is the formation of a habit as a forum for unity and brotherhood of the Surau al-Ikhlas congregation. Abstract

This paper discusses the contextualization of fingerprints in the Qur'an, specifically in Surah Al-Anfal, verse 12, and Surah Al-Qiyamah, verse 4. Each person's fingerprints are unique, even among identical twins, and they remain unchanged over time, unlike other organs that may change. The aim of this study is to examine how scholars have interpreted the reference to fingerprints in the Qur'an across different eras and how the concept of fingerprints indicated in the Qur'an can be applied in the contemporary context. The analysis employs Abdullah Saeed's contextual approach. The research concludes that: first, linguistically, the term "banan" refers to the tips of the fingers. It is mentioned with reference to fingers rather than other body parts because fingers are the smallest and most complex bones and were the last body parts created. From a micro-macro perspective of asbab an-nuzul, fingerprints are related to the disbelief of the disbelievers regarding Allah's ability to resurrect and identify individuals from the grave, distinguishing one person from another. Second, interpretations of the term "banan" by scholars across generations present two views. One view is that Allah has the power to perfectly reconstruct human fingers. The other view explains that human fingerprints can be relied upon for identity investigation in criminal cases. Third, in the context of modern advancements, fingerprints are now used not only for criminal identification but also in technology fields, such as security systems and digital authentication.

Abstract

Kata kunci: Film Roh Fasik; Living Qur’an; Ruqyah; Resepsi   Abstract   This paper discusses the living qur'an phenomenon of the ruqyah scene in the film Roh Fasik produced by RA Pictures in 2019.
