Abstract

In the era of globalization, the 21st century requires learning integrated with technological developments and innovation. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending (CORE) learning model based on the Geogebra Applet on students' critical thinking ability regarding learning styles. The design of this study is quasi-experimental. The samples in this study were students of class XI MIPA 1 and XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 2 Magelang who were selected by the cluster random sampling technique. The instruments used in this study were critical thinking ability tests and learning style questionnaires. Based on the results of the hypothesis test conducted with the ANOVA test of two unequal cell paths and the LSD (Least Significance Difference) follow-up test, results were obtained:  (i) The Core learning model based on the Geogebra Applet produces students' critical thinking ability better than the direct learning model; (ii) There are differences in critical thinking ability between students and the learning styles of divergers, convergers, assimilators and accommodators; (iii) There is no interaction between the Geogebra Applet-based CORE learning model and the direct learning model with the student's learning style.

Abstract

Mathematical and English literacy are skills that students must master in the current era of globalization. Mathematical literacy focuses on numeracy literacy, while English literacy focuses on reading and writing literacy. Based on data, Mathematics literacy and English literacy of SMPIT Ihsanul Fikri students in Magelang City are still relatively low. There are still many teachers who have not found suitable learning methods to apply to improve their students' mathematics and English literacy. The effective application of the Kumon method in learning is still unknown to SMPIT teacher Ihsanul Fikri. Apart from that, mastery of Mathematics literacy and English literacy is also not yet aligned with literacy programs in schools. Thus, Community Partnership Empowerment (PKM) activities were held in the form of training and assistance in creating the EMAK (English and Mathematics Acquisition through Kumon Method) application. The EMAK application uses the Moodle platform so it can be controlled with an admin account, teacher account and student account. PKM activities are carried out through stages of preparation, training, mentoring and evaluation. The training activity involved all Mathematics teachers and English teachers at SMPIT Ihsanul Fikri Magelang City. The posttest results showed an increase in the understanding of the training participants, namely with an average of 82 from the previous 75. Teachers' skills in making quizzes using the EMAK application also increased. Next, FGD activities were carried out to see the successes and obstacles of PKM activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of differences in learning models on problem-solving ability, the influence of differences in student learning styles on problem-solving ability, and the interaction between learning models and student learning styles on problem-solving ability. The design of this study is a pseudo-experimental design. The samples in this study were students of class VII A and class VII C of SMP Negeri 3 Muntilan who were selected by cluster random sampling. Based on the results of the hypothesis test conducted with the two-way ANAVA test, the results were obtained that 1) there were differences in the influence of learning models on problem-solving ability; 2) there is no difference in the influence of the four learning styles on problem-solving ability; 3) there is no interaction between the learning model and the student’s learning style on problem-solving ability. The conclusions of this study are 1) students with ethnomathematics-based PBL models have better problem-solving abilities than students with direct learning models; 2) students with convergent, divergent, assimilated, and accommodation learning styles with an ethnomathematics-based PBL models have better problem-solving abilities than students with direct learning models.
