Abstract

PT. XYZ is a manufacturing company engaged in the automotive sector by producing various automotive components. Based on the results of observations and interviews at PT. XYZ, it is known that there is a shortage of stock, so that customer or consumer requests are not fulfilled at each existing distribution center (DC). Based on the problems that occur, the research result suggestions for the best forecasting method based on the time series plot of each DC request processing using the Distribution Requirement Planning (DRP) method. In addition, with the DRP method, there is additional stock. The company still has remaining stock so it can still meet customer demand for each DC, and the product distribution process runs more regularly if any defective product should be replaced. Based on research results, the DRP method is able to minimize the risk of unfulfilled demand due to product defects.

Abstract

Polyester yarn is a key raw material in textile manufacturing due to its durability and affordability. PT ABC relies on external suppliers for polyester yarn, making inventory management crucial for production efficiency. However, the company's current ordering approach has led to occasional stock shortages, impacting operations. This study develops an inventory control model using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method, incorporating safety stock and reorder point calculations to minimize stockouts and reduce inventory costs. Additionally, Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) are used to forecast demand for 2022, improving estimation accuracy. Based on historical demand data from 2019 to 2021, the EOQ method lowers inventory costs compared to the company’s approach, achieving efficiency gains of 19%, 12%, and 29%, saving IDR45,745,000, IDR23,735,000, and IDR98,020,000, for each respective year. The ANN model utilizing the TrainLM training function achieves the lowest Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.063528 and forecasts a total raw material requirement of 2,510,628 kg for 2022. The EOQ value for 2022 is set at 44,817 kg, with safety stock and reorder point levels of 8,438 kg and 29,360 kg, respectively. Keywords – Artificial Neural Network, Economic Order Quantity, Inventory, Reorder Point, Safety Stock.

Abstract

The feeder resilience project is a network development project in the form of feeders that can be restored effectively and efficiently by PT XYZ. The project has risks that can have an impact on several factors, namely productivity, performance, quality and changes in costs on the project. With this, there is a need for further risk analysis and design (risk register) to find out what risks will occur and know how to respond to risks (risk response) using a probability & impact matrix to determine the priority of risks that will occur. The method used is a qualitative method because it can create subjective design results based on real phenomena according to events in the field on projects by performing qualitative risk analysis. The risk identification that has been obtained will be assessed based on the probability of the risk occurring and the resulting impact including time, cost, quality, safety & security, and scope by relevant stakeholders and continued with determining the risk response that will be carried out. It was found that there were 175 risks that had been identified in the risk register with two types of risks, namely positive risks/opportunities and negative risks/threats and risk responses were determined to handle the risks.
