Abstract

The postpartum period is a critical time and predisposes women to experience anxiety, as they undergo a role transition into motherhood. If anxiety is left unaddressed, it can lead to postpartum depression and negatively impact cognitive, behavioral, and neurophysiological outcomes for the child. The purpose of this research is to assess the levels of anxiety among spontaneous postpartum mothers at the Ibrahim Adji Community Health Center in Bandung city. This study employs a descriptive method with a cross-sectional research design, involving a sample of 36 spontaneous postpartum mothers. The instrument used is the Postpartum Specific Anxiety Scale (PSAS). The research findings indicate that the majority of postpartum mothers experience mild anxiety at 41.6%, moderate anxiety at 25%, severe anxiety at 16.7%, and 16.7% of postpartum mothers have no anxiety. The conclusion of this study suggests that postpartum mothers tend to experience mild anxiety. It is hoped that healthcare professionals, especially midwives, can provide counseling and psychological support as these are crucial aspects during the postpartum period.

Abstract

The incidence of contraceptive dropout in West Java is still high. Analyzing the reasons would help to improve programs. This study explores the relationship between predisposing factors and the incidence of contraceptive dropout in West Java. The research was cross-sectional and conducted from August to December 2021, and the dataset came from Program Performance and Accountability Survey (Survei Kinerja dan Akuntabilitas Program, SKAP) 2019. The sample in the study were women of childbearing age 15–49 years with married status both ever and currently using contraception—a total of 338 samples with simple random sampling. This study used univariate, bivariate, and multiple logistic regression to analyze the discontinuation of contraception. A study has shown a relationship (p<0.05) between parity, education level, level of knowledge, and the incidence of contraceptive dropout. Furthermore, age and employment status did not affect them. In conclusion, a relationship exists between predisposing factors such as education, parity, knowledge, and contraceptive dropout. There is a need to emphasize the health promotion of contraception, especially for women of childbearing age with marital status, low education, fewer children than two, and inadequate knowledge level. In addition, contraceptive service standards should be implemented to prevent the incidence of contraceptive dropout.

Abstract

Globally, an estimated 20% of women who give birth experience postpartum anxiety. Women, after childbirth, require both physical and psychological adaptation. If not treated immediately, postpartum mothers can experience different levels of anxiety. Anxiety in postpartum mothers can harm both mother and baby. Therefore, health workers need to detect anxiety immediately. This assessment (Postpartum Specific Anxiety Scale), or PSAS, helps health workers assess anxiety in postpartum mothers starting from the beginning of the puerperium. However, this measuring instrument needs to be evaluated to assess its use. A Rasch analysis is needed to accurately picture postpartum maternal anxiety. It is considered to have the ability to enhance the accuracy of statistical analysis results and increase measurement precision. This research aims to analyze the postpartum maternal anxiety assessment instrument using Rasch analysis. This study used a descriptive method with a cross-sectional research design involving 36 spontaneous postpartum mothers. The Postpartum Specific Anxiety Scale (PSAS) is the instrument used in this study. According to the results of analysis using the Winsteps program, it is known that there are 34 out of 51 items that meet the item-model accuracy index, with an alpha coefficient of 0.94. The instrument’s separation item index has a value of 3.06. The unexplained variance value does not exceed 15%, so this instrument is ideal for use. Overall, it can be concluded that the anxiety assessment scale for postpartum mothers, namely PSAS, has good psychometric properties for assessment and research. Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT The postpartum period starts after the birth of the placenta until 6 weeks postpartum. Every postpartum mother will experience psychological adaptations starting from the phases of taking in, taking hold to letting go. Postpartum mothers who fail to adapt to physiological and psychological changes tend to experience emotional problems during the postpartum period. Postpartum depression is a mood disorder that affects the mother after childbirth. The incidence of postpartum depression in 2023 will reach 11% -30% in Indonesia. The prevalence of depression in 2023 in West Java will reach 113,568 residents or around 3.3% with ages ≥15 years. Early detection of postpartum depression, especially in postpartum mothers who have risk factors, is one of the best prevention efforts. Screening can be done using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) which consists of 10 questions. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the risk of postpartum depression in postpartum mothers in Bandung City. The research uses a quantitative analytical approach with a cross sectional design. The respondents in this study were 74 postpartum mothers who gave birth at the UPTD Community Health Center in Bandung City. Bivariate analysis was carried out using the Spearman Rho and Contingency Coefficient tests. The results of the analysis show a relationship between psychological factors (history of depression), obstetric and pediatric factors (type of delivery, pregnancy complications, premature birth), sociodemographic factors (education, economic status) and marital status (domestic violence and unplanned pregnancy) on risk of postpartum depression (p value <0.05). Physical factors (body mass index), obstetric and pediatric factors (parity), sociodemographic factors (age and occupation) and marital status factors (marital status) showed no relationship with the risk of postpartum depression (p value >0.05). Screening using EPDS is one effort that can be done to detect the risk of postpartum depression. Apart from that, it is necessary to pay attention to the risk factors for postpartum depression early so that the incident can be prevented or treated before it becomes serious. Keywords: Depression, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, Postpartum ABSTRAK Masa nifas dimulai setelah lahirnya plasenta sampai dengan 6 minggu pascasalin. Setiap ibu nifas akan mengalami adaptasi psikologis mulai dari fase taking in, taking hold hingga letting go.

Abstract

The Citarum watershed is a source of livelihood for communities in 13 cities and regencies in West Java and Jakarta. However, the Citarum River is considered one of the most polluted rivers in the world, prompting the central and local governments to implement conservation programs. For Tarumajaya Village, the conservation of the Citarum watershed starts from the Situ Cisanti area accompanied by the development of a tourism village to support the Citarum Harum Program. However, the existing participation is only seen from the government side, and there is no significant community participation in terms of communication and others directly in the process of developing this tourism village. Thus, this study aims to identify community involvement in the development of tourism villages to support the restoration of the Citarum watershed in the Upper Citarum Region. This qualitative study was conducted in Tarumajaya Village, Kertasari Sub-district, Bandung Regency. Primary data were obtained through non-participant observation and in-depth interviews, while secondary data were obtained from policy documents. Data analysis included data reduction, presentation, verification, and conclusion drawing. The research findings show that the development of creative tourism villages in Tarumajaya Village is carried out to support environmental preservation and has economic value for the welfare of the community, thus supporting public health. Tarumajaya Village community innovation products have economic value in tourism and show community involvement in supporting sustainable tourism development which is expected to improve public health.
