Abstract

ABSTRACT The postpartum period starts after the birth of the placenta until 6 weeks postpartum. Every postpartum mother will experience psychological adaptations starting from the phases of taking in, taking hold to letting go. Postpartum mothers who fail to adapt to physiological and psychological changes tend to experience emotional problems during the postpartum period. Postpartum depression is a mood disorder that affects the mother after childbirth. The incidence of postpartum depression in 2023 will reach 11% -30% in Indonesia. The prevalence of depression in 2023 in West Java will reach 113,568 residents or around 3.3% with ages ≥15 years. Early detection of postpartum depression, especially in postpartum mothers who have risk factors, is one of the best prevention efforts. Screening can be done using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) which consists of 10 questions. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the risk of postpartum depression in postpartum mothers in Bandung City. The research uses a quantitative analytical approach with a cross sectional design. The respondents in this study were 74 postpartum mothers who gave birth at the UPTD Community Health Center in Bandung City. Bivariate analysis was carried out using the Spearman Rho and Contingency Coefficient tests. The results of the analysis show a relationship between psychological factors (history of depression), obstetric and pediatric factors (type of delivery, pregnancy complications, premature birth), sociodemographic factors (education, economic status) and marital status (domestic violence and unplanned pregnancy) on risk of postpartum depression (p value 0.05). Physical factors (body mass index), obstetric and pediatric factors (parity), sociodemographic factors (age and occupation) and marital status factors (marital status) showed no relationship with the risk of postpartum depression (p value 0.05). Screening using EPDS is one effort that can be done to detect the risk of postpartum depression. Apart from that, it is necessary to pay attention to the risk factors for postpartum depression early so that the incident can be prevented or treated before it becomes serious. Keywords: Depression, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, Postpartum ABSTRAK Masa nifas dimulai setelah lahirnya plasenta sampai dengan 6 minggu pascasalin. Setiap ibu nifas akan mengalami adaptasi psikologis mulai dari fase taking in, taking hold hingga letting go.

Abstract

Optimal breast milk production is crucial for successful breastfeeding. Acupressure has been used as a non-pharmacological intervention to enhance lactation in postpartum mothers. This scoping review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of acupressure alone and in combination with other therapies in improving breast milk production and to identify influencing maternal factors. A scoping review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. Eighteen studies were included from ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and EBSCO using keywords related to acupressure, breast milk production, and postpartum. Three themes were identified: respondent characteristics modulating lactation; impact of acupressure on lactation; and the efficacy of acupressure combined with other therapies. Acupressure improved breast milk production and adequacy in most studies. Maternal characteristics (age, education, parity, and breastfeeding support) influenced lactation outcomes. Reported effects included increased milk volume, earlier lactation onset, and higher prolactin levels. Acupressure was more effective when combined with interventions such as oxytocin massage, back massage, and aromatherapy. Acupressure is a safe and effective method to enhance breast milk production. Its integration into maternal health services and combination with supportive therapies, tailored to maternal characteristics, may improve breastfeeding outcomes. Future RCTs should use standardized volumetric outcomes, longer follow-up, and compare acupressure combinations with pharmacological interventions.

Abstract

Patient-centered health services require preparation for Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC). Therefore, it is essential to equip health worker students with Interprofessional Education (IPE) training. This study aims to determine the readiness of midwifery students to implement Interprofessional Education (IPE) using a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) approach. A descriptive research method with a cross-sectional design was conducted at the Midwifery Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Padjadjaran. Data collection was performed using questionnaires administered to 30 students (7th semester) before the start of PjBL, who collaborated with nursing students in the Undergraduate Nursing Study Program at Universitas Padjadjaran. Descriptive data analysis with frequency and percentage statistical tests. The study's results showed that midwifery students were highly receptive to IPE learning, which involves working together to solve patient problems, benefiting from learning related to professional limitations, communication skills, teamwork skills, and collaboration in small group settings. Additionally, most midwifery students can participate in IPE by achieving a score of 79.50-100. This study concludes that student readiness can support the achievement of PjBL-based IPE learning objectives.   Abstrak Pelayanan kesehatan yang berpusat pada pasien perlu dipersiapkan Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC), maka perlu membekali mahasiswa tenaga kesehatan dengan pembelajaran Interprofessional Education (IPE).
