Abstract

Education is an effort to promote the growth of character, mind in one's body, where these parts are very important to advance the perfection of children's lives. The purpose of this study was to analyze whether students of science students carry out science practicum by applying the integration of Islamic values. The research method used in this design is descriptive qualitative. The character values obtained in the science practicum by students are discipline, independent, objective, thorough, responsible, helpful and tolerant. Abstract

Culture has a positive impact when studied more deeply. Culture is one of the characteristics of a region. Dumbeg is one of the typical foods that has ethnoscience studies in it. Contextual-based learning by utilizing phenomena that exist in nature such as local culture is very important so that students can preserve the existing local culture. The purpose of this study is to study ethnoscience in the manufacture of dumbeg in Rembang district as a source of science learning. The method in this study uses observation and interviews with informants. The results of this study are 1) Culture and science have a strong relationship so that ethnoscience can be used as a source of learning in the world of education. 2) The process of making dumbeg is one example of the correlation between science and culture. 3) Local dumbeg culture can be used as a source of science learning, both physics and biology.

Abstract

This article describes the problems of Islamic religious education high school level public schools. The formulation of the issues raised is 1) What are the problems of Islamic religious education (PAI) found in high school level public schools 2) How are the solutions to overcome the problems of learning Islamic religious education (PAI) in public schools at the high school level. This research method is qualitative research using a literature study method, namely by displaying scientific reasoning arguments. The problems of PAI in high school level public schools include low interest learning learners in the PAI learning, lack of time allocation, problems in educators, problem in students, problem in facilities and infrastructure, the problem in PAI learning methods, and problem in learning evaluation. Meanwhile, solutions to overcome these problems, including replacing professional teachers, finding PAI teachers who are professional in their fields, every educator is included in events such as seminars, providing facilities and infrastructure for the implementation of sufficient Islamic religious teaching practices, educators must master various learning methods so that students easily understand the material delivered, increase the number of PAI teachers, and develop a learning evaluation system where the emphasis is on self-evaluation.

Abstract

Tujuan - Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan konsep Ethno-SETS (Science, Environment, Technology, Society) dalam pembuatan Jenang Kudus serta mengidentifikasi kaitannya dengan prinsip ilmiah. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis Ethno-SETS, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara, dan dokumentasi alat serta proses pengemasan. Metode - Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis Ethno-SETS. Data diperoleh melalui observasi langsung, wawancara dengan pelaku produksi, serta dokumentasi alat dan proses pengemasan Jenang Kudus. Hasil - Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembuatan Jenang Kudus melibatkan aspek Science (konsep IPA seperti gaya mekanik, perubahan energi, dan perubahan wujud zat), Environment (pemanfaatan limbah kelapa sebagai bahan bakar dan pengelolaan limbah organik), Technology (penggunaan mesin penggiling dan pengaduk untuk efisiensi produksi), serta Society (penyediaan lapangan kerja bagi masyarakat). Temuan - Penelitian mengungkap bahwa pengetahuan lokal dalam pembuatan jenang tidak hanya bernilai budaya tetapi juga mengandung prinsip sains dan teknologi yang aplikatif Implikasi - Hasil studi ini dapat menjadi sumber belajar berbasis kearifan lokal sekaligus upaya pelestarian budaya. Dengan demikian, proses pembuatan Jenang Kudus merupakan contoh nyata integrasi Ethno-SETS yang menggabungkan sains, teknologi, keberlanjutan lingkungan, dan pemberdayaan masyarakat.

Abstract

Natural Sciences (Science) has a significant role in improving students' ability to understand various natural events around them, including in the context of junior high school science material. This study aims to explore the process of making traditional cooling powder as a source of science learning (IPA) based on ethnoscience for junior high school students. The research was conducted in Kandangmas Village, Kudus, using a qualitative descriptive method. The main source was a traditional midwife with expertise in creating cooling powder from key ingredients such as rice, turmeric, and aromatic ginger (kencur). The stages include soaking, grinding, mixing, shaping, and drying. This study links the process to science concepts, such as changes in the state of matter, frictional force, pressure, density, and heat transfer. The results indicate that integrating local wisdom with scientific concepts can enhance students’ understanding of science through cultural context. This approach also strengthens the preservation of local cultural heritage while fostering students’ love for their culture and national identity. Utilizing ethnoscience in education provides meaningful, relevant, and contextual learning experiences. Therefore, a culturally-based science learning approach can offer innovative solutions to improve student engagement and preserve local knowledge amidst globalization challenges.

Abstract

Siswa memiliki tingkat pemahaman materi yang berbeda-beda, termasuk dalam memahami materi Pendidikan Agama Islam yang monoton menggunakan metode ceramah. Terkadang siswa sulit menangkap apa yang dijelaskan oleh guru khususnya pada materi kompleks seperti fiqih dan materi panjang seperti sejarah kebudayaan islam. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk melakukan suatu inovasi pembelajaran guna menjawab permasalahan siswa terkait pemahaman materi. Inovasi yang akan dibahas dalam artikel ini merupakan pengembangan media audiovisual untuk Pendidikan Agama Islam(PAI). Metode penelitian menggunakan kajian pustaka (library research) yang dikumpulkan dari buku dan jurnal. Dengan pengembangan inovasi media audiovisual, diharapkan siswa dapat lebih memahami materi Pendidikan Agama Islam dan memberikan suasana baru dalam pembelajaran. Hasil dari penelitian ini dengan perkembangan teknologi, pengaksesan media audivisual dalam pembelajaran semakin mudah. Situs paling popular yang menyediakan akses media audiovisual yaitu Youtobe. Peran pendidik dalam pemutaran video pembelajaran sebagai pembimbing. Sehingga dengan media ini dapat membentuk efektifitas belajar siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance science learning in elementary schools by integrating an ethnoscience approach through the traditional process of making gethuk, a renowned food from Central Java. Employing a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach, this research seeks to uncover scientific concepts embedded in the gethuk-making process. Data were analyzed through three stages: data reduction, data presentation in narrative and tabular forms, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the process of making gethuk involves key physical and chemical concepts, including physical changes, heat transfer, mechanical energy, and chemical transformations. These findings highlight the strong connection between local cultural practices and scientific principles, offering students a contextual and meaningful learning experience. The study emphasizes the importance of developing ethnoscience-based curricula, providing teacher training, and utilizing culturally relevant teaching materials to deepen students’ understanding of science concepts. Ultimately, integrating ethnoscience into science education not only promotes scientific literacy but also fosters cultural appreciation among elementary school students.

Abstract

Materi suhu dan kalor pada pemeblajaran IPA masih dianggap abstrak dan kurang diminati siswa karena bersifat teoritis dan tidak kontekstual. Materi suhu dan kalor jika di amati lebih lanjut memiliki kedekatan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari serta memiliki potensi untuk diintegrasikan dengan nilai-nilai lokal dan religius. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan e-modul IPA interaktif yang mengintegrasikan kearifan lokal dan nilai-nilai religius. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) E-modul dikembangan dengan aplikasi canva dan divalidasi oleh dua ahli materi dan dua ahli media. Hasil validasi menunjukkan e-modul memperoleh skor 81,26% dari ahli materi dan 87,03% dari ahli media yang keduanya memiliki kategori sangat layak. Uji coba terbatas pada siswa menunjukkan respon positif terhadap, manfaat, kegunaan, dan tampilan modul. Integrasi budaya lokal pembuatan jenang kudus serta ayat-ayat al-qur’an dalam modul ini memberikan konteks yang lebih dekat dengan kehidupan siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa e-modul ini layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: menganalisis proses pembuatan Jenang Kudus terhadap keberlanjutan tradisi lokal dengan menggunakan nilai-nilai etnosains. Jenang Kudus merupakan makanan khas daerah Kudus yang memiliki nilai kebudayaan dan Sejarah yang mendalam, Jenang kudus juga dijadikan sebagai simbol akulturasi budaya tradisi lokal dengan ajaran agama Islam. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan memakai motode deskriptif, yaitu dengan mengumpulkan data melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi dari penjual dan pembuat jenang. Kajian etnosains dari pembuatan Jenang Kudus terletak pada saat mengaduk adonan yang awalnya bahan mentah cair kemudian di panaskan diatas bara api. Setelah beberapa jam dipanaskan diatas bara api adonan jenang akan berubah menjadi adonan yang padat dan kental.

Abstract

Parijoto fruit (Medinilla speciosa), a characteristic plant from the slopes of Mount Muria, is traditionally believed to enhance fertility in pregnant women. This study aimed to examine the process of making parijoto syrup and relate it to scientific concepts. A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving semi-structured interviews, field observations of syrup production, and literature review to explore the fruit’s composition and benefits. The research stages included preparation, primary data collection, and data analysis. Data were analyzed descriptively and comparatively, linking indigenous knowledge with principles of ethnoscience and ethnobotany. The investigation focused on community practices in syrup preparation, followed by verification, reconstruction, formulation, and conceptualization into scientific knowledge. From a scientific perspective, the syrup production process illustrates concepts such as classification of living organisms, elements and compounds, energy and work, simple machines, mixtures, temperature and heat, and energy transfer. Ethnobotanical findings show that the local community uses parijoto fruit and leaves for various medicinal purposes and fertility enhancement, with cultural beliefs attributing positive effects on offspring appearance. Integrating local knowledge with scientific learning provides opportunities to foster meaningful understanding and strengthen connections between education and regional natural potential.Keywords: parijoto plant, medinilla speciosa, ethnoscience, ethnobotanical, indigenous knowledge
