Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that requires a comprehensive understanding from patients to prevent complications. However, conventional health education often proves to be less effective in increasing patient knowledge. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using animated videos as an educational medium to improve the basic knowledge of diabetes mellitus patients at the Sawah Besar Community Health Center. The research employed a true experimental design with a post-test only control group approach involving 116 respondents divided into two groups: intervention and non-intervention. The instrument used was the DKQ-24 questionnaire, with data analysis using the Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that the majority of respondents in the intervention group (72.4%) had good knowledge, while in the non-intervention group, most (91.4%) fell into the low knowledge category. The statistical test revealed a significant difference between the two groups (p = 0.000). In conclusion, animated videos are effectively used as an educational medium to enhance the basic knowledge of patients with diabetes mellitus because they can convey information in an engaging, easily understandable manner, and reach various backgrounds of respondents.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease commonly found in the community and is often referred to as a “silent killer” because it frequently shows no symptoms in its early stages. Nevertheless, diabetes can lead to various serious complications, including eye disorders such as cataracts. Cataracts are a common ocular complication in individuals with diabetes and can potentially lead to permanent blindness if not treated promptly.Efforts to prevent complications from diabetes largely depend on the patient’s understanding of how to manage the disease. This includes controlling blood sugar levels, blood pressure, cholesterol, adopting a healthy lifestyle, adherence to medication, and undergoing regular eye examinations. A good level of knowledge helps shape a positive mindset, which in turn influences preventive behavior, including the prevention of cataracts. In other words, the higher a person’s knowledge about their disease, the better their preventive behavior tends to be.This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge among diabetes mellitus patients and their behavior in preventing cataracts at Hospital X, Jakarta. The study employs a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design and involves 105 respondents who were selected through the distribution of questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman test and showed a significance value of 0.345 (p < 0.01). This result indicates a relationship between the level of knowledge and cataract prevention behavior, although with a weak correlation. These findings suggest that increasing patients’ knowledge still plays a role in shaping better preventive behavior

Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in the body, particularly in the joints. According to data from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study in 2020, approximately 17.6 million people worldwide live with RA. In the service area of Sawah Besar General Hospital, there were 21 cases of RA in 2025. This is attributed to factors such as genetics, hormones, neuroendocrine conditions, and comorbidities that can trigger RA. Preliminary studies indicate that most patients continue to engage in heavy physical activities, which may contribute to RA flare-ups. This study aims to investigate the relationship between physical activity levels and RA flare-ups at RSUD Sawah Besar in Central Jakarta in 2025. This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design, and the sample consisted of 21 respondents selected through non-probability sampling using the total sampling method. The research instruments used were questionnaires on physical activity levels (GPAQ) and RA relapses. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods with the Spearman rho test. The results of this study indicate that the majority of respondents had a high level of physical activity (76.19%) and frequent RA recurrence (52.4%). The Spearman's rho test results showed a very strong and significant correlation between the two variables

Abstract

Hypertension was a health problem frequently encountered in society and was known as a “silent killer” because it showed no symptoms but could lead to serious complications such as stroke, kidney failure, and heart disease. One important effort in controlling hypertension was increasing patient knowledge. However, health education delivered without attractive media was often less effective. This study aimed to determine the effect of optimizing health e-leaflet educational media on increasing the knowledge of hypertension patients at the Pancoran Community Health Center. The research method was quantitative with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest–posttest with a non-equivalent control group approach. A total of 116 subjects were involved and divided into two groups: an experimental group that received education using health e-leaflets and a control group that did not receive educational media. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Mann–Whitney U test. The results showed a significant difference in knowledge between the experimental and control groups with a p-value < 0,001. It was concluded that health e-leaflet educational media had a significant effect on increasing the knowledge of hypertension patients at the Pancoran Community Health Center. Health e-leaflet media could be used as an alternative approach for health education in the digital era.

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) was one of the main health problems in Indonesia and remained a significant cause of morbidity and mortality, especially among vulnerable groups. Various risk factors such as age, gender, environmental conditions, and level of public knowledge were known to influence the prevalence of this disease. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the level of community knowledge and ARI prevention efforts in the working area of Tarumajaya Public Health Center, Bekasi Regency. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. A total of 85 subjects were selected using a purposive sampling method. The research instrument was a questionnaire whose validity and reliability had been tested. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test. The results showed a significant relationship between knowledge level and ARI prevention efforts (p-value < 0,0001). Subjects with higher levels of knowledge tended to perform better preventive behaviors. These findings indicated that strategic efforts from health workers were needed to improve public awareness and knowledge through sustainable promotive and preventive programs. In conclusion, knowledge was associated with ARI preventive behavior; therefore, educational interventions played a key role in controlling this disease, especially in high-incidence areas such as the Tarumajaya Public Health Center.

Abstract

Outpatient registration administration services are the first gateway to interaction between patients and hospitals. This study aimed to analyze the quality of outpatient registration administration services at Pengayoman Cipinang Hospital in 2025 based on hospital service standards, focusing on four key aspects: availability, responsiveness, comfort, and timeliness. The approach used was descriptive quantitative, with a sample of 42 outpatient respondents who met the criteria. Data were collected using a Likert-based questionnaire instrument, then analyzed to describe respondents' perceptions of the four service dimensions. The analysis results showed that the majority of patients gave a positive assessment of service quality, with the highest percentage in the comfort dimension (76.2%), followed by punctuality (75.5%), availability (74.4%), and responsiveness (70.24%). These findings indicated that although the service system has been running quite effectively, there are still gaps for improvement to achieve excellent service standards. Recommendations proposed include optimizing the number of service counters during peak hours, conducting regular training for administrative staff, improving waiting room facilities, and implementing a digital information system capable of providing real-time queue status updates to patients. These efforts are expected to maintain the existing quality of administrative registration services at Pengayoman Cipinang Hospital.

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease requiring long-term management and is often accompanied by psychological problems such as stress and anxiety. Poor mental health can affect treatment adherence and reduce patients’ quality of life. Family plays a vital role as the primary support system in helping individuals adapt to chronic conditions. This community service activity aimed to strengthen the role of family in supporting the mental health of patients with hypertension. The program was conducted in Plombokan Subdistrict, Semarang City, on November 26–27, 2025, involving 45 participants, including patients and their family members aged from middle adulthood to pre-elderly. Methods used were health education, interactive discussions, and family counseling. Evaluation was conducted descriptively by measuring family knowledge and patients’ mental health before and after the intervention. Results showed increased family knowledge and awareness, along with reduced mild stress and anxiety among patients. A family-based approach is effective as a promotive and preventive community strategy.
