Abstract

This study aims to analyze gender responsive programs and activities in the City Health Office of Parepare whose results are used as reference for the institution to reformulate policies that describe gender equality and justice so that development outcomes are on target and can provide positive benefits and impacts for both men and women. The formulation of the program and activities compiled consisted of 12 program items which were transcribed in 111 activities. The Twelve Health Service programs deliver the City of Parepare to a better Human Development Index. The program is based on gender-neutral regional technical guidelines. However, there are several programs included in gender specific categories such as the Maternal and Child Health program. Gender responsive programs and activities are still gradual, given that budgeting is still new. Disaggregated data has not been provided on each activity item so that it is difficult to carry out gender analysis, so efforts to find gender gaps are also difficult.

Abstract

Everyone has the different perception or arguments about an object around them. So as students, they also have perception about their teacher especially to the English teacher. In every school there are some categories of the teachers namely the good teacher, bad, friendly and the professional teacher. As the professional teachers they should have or mastery four competencies namely, pedagogical competence, professional, personality and social competence. This study was aimed to know about the professional English teacher and the students? perception of the professional English teacher. The objective of this research was to get the empirical data about the professional teacher and students? perception. The population of the research consisted of sixty students of the first grade, the second grade and the third grade. The sample of the research consisted of 60 students. The research method used in the research was a qualitative and quantitative method (Mix-method) by using descriptive design. The data was collected through observation and questionnaire. Based on the calculation, the result of the data analysis showed that the students? perception of the professional teacher got a good perception that it was included high category. In other words, the teacher at MA PP Nurul Haq Benteng lewo Kabupaten Sidrap was included in the professional teacher.

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji akomodasi hak perempuan pada implementasi Peraturan Komisi Pemilihan Umum (PKPU), No.7 Tahun 2013 di kota Parepare. Selain itu, mengidentifikasi kendala yang dihadapi bakal calon perempuan dalam memperjuagkan diri untuk masuk dalam daftar calon legislatif. Studi ini dilakukan dengan penelitian kualitatif dengan fokus pada studi kasus, dengan memakai sumber data wawancara mendalam dan data pendukung dari KPU. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa, regulasi yang menjamin hak-hak politik perempuan dalam implementasinya masih ditemui banyak keterbatasan dan kendala baik itu dari nilai-nilai budaya masyarakat maupun kendala teknis di lapangan. Maka rekomendasi dari hasil penelitian ini yaitu (1) partai politik harus  memiliki komitmen dalam mempersiapkan kader perempuannya bertarung dalam panggung politik legislative. (2) Sistem pemilu proporsional terbuka perlu peninjauan ulang karena berdampak pada ketidakberdayaan partai untuk mengusung kader berkualitasnya yang tidak memiliki modal dana yang mapan.

Abstract

ARIAS learning model consists of assurance, relevance, interest, assessment, satisfaction which is arranged based on learning theories. The five components are one unity that requires learning process to be more effective to improve students’ confidence in speaking. Many students’ still afraid to speak and did not have any self confidence in speaking. The purpose of this research is to know whether or not ARIAS Model can improve students speaking ability at SMP Negeri 9 Parepare. This research used experiment design with pre-experimental design, the total samples were 29 students. To gain the data, this research employed pre-test and post-test as instruments. The data were analyzed by using SPSS. The result of the research showed that there was improvement of students speaking ability at SMP Negeri 9 Parepare after having taught by ARIAS Model. The students speaking skill before learning by using of ARIAS Model was 64,33. After having treatment by using of ARIAS Model, students’ speaking ability increased by 80.52. The improvement obtained t value 2.507 > 2.011, which means that there was a significant improvement students speaking ability using ARIAS Model at SMP Negeri 9 Parepare.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to explore the integration of compulsion strategy and podcasts in improving the students’ English-speaking skills. It’s a teaching challenge in integrating appropriate strategy and media to upgrade students’ English-speaking skills. This study used a mixed-methods to explore the students’ English-speaking skills in integrating the compulsion strategy. A test investigated 42 English students at the Tarbiyah faculty of IAIN Sorong, Indonesia. It tested fluency, vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar through podcasts. The results showed that most students achieved significant improvement in English-speaking skills after integrating them. The questionnaire was focused on humanism methods: structured planning, regular control, learners’ management, training, the building of interactions, reflection on achievement progress, and re-evaluation of improvement progress. It showed that 86 percent decided strongly agreed and were interested in learning speaking skills utilizing compulsion strategy through podcasts. An interview investigated six respondents whether the compulsion strategy and podcasts could improve students’ English-speaking skills or not. It indicated that most students acquired advantages: enthusiasm to learn English, high self-confidence, and interest in compelled methods using humanism approaches in the teaching process.  Therefore, it is recommended to use a compulsion strategy in collaboration with podcast media for teaching and learning English as a foreign language. Keywords: Compulsion Strategy, Podcasts, English-Speaking Skills, Teaching and Learning, Humanism Approaches

Abstract

The program of this community service is designed to increase the village economy through the waste recycle. This program aims to assist the community in Tanete Village of Sidenreng Rappang of South Sulawesi to increase the family economy by utilizing the banana waste. It was carried out  using Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. The sample of village community consisted of twenty people in Tanete Village of Sidenreng Rappang of South Sulawesi. The stages of its implementation were socialization, training and demonstration. The result of this program encouraged the village community successfully to make banana waste become the painting and food jam.  Keywords: Banana Waste; Economy; Village.

Abstract

This study investigates innovative strategies and challenges in online grammar instruction within the English Language Education Department at IAIN Parepare, Indonesia. As digital learning becomes increasingly integrated into higher education, the research focuses on the experiences of 40 students and 5 online grammar instructors. Through a mixed-methods approach, incorporating surveys of all 40 students and in-depth interviews with the 5 tutors, this study investigates the adaptation of traditional grammar teaching methods to digital platforms. Key findings reveal that interactive tools, gamification, and personalized learning paths significantly enhance student engagement and comprehension in online grammar lessons. However, challenges such as varying levels of digital literacy among students, maintaining consistent motivation in virtual environments, and the limitations of asynchronous communication emerge as significant hurdles. The study concludes by proposing a tailored framework for effective online grammar instruction at IAIN Parepare, emphasizing the integration of culturally relevant multimedia resources, collaborative learning activities, and adaptive assessment techniques. These insights contribute to the growing body of knowledge on digital pedagogy in Indonesian higher education and offer practical implications for educators navigating the complexities of online language instruction in similar institutional settings.

Abstract

Abstrak: Karakteristik peserta didik merupakan salah satu yang menjadi bahan pertimbangan dan pijakan dalam perencanaan konsep pembelajaran. Konsep pembelajaran dalam hal ini adalah bentuk perencanaan terhadap proses pembelajaran yang akan dilaksanakan dan hasil yang diharapkan terjadi. Adapun karakteristik peserta didik berkaitan dengan beberapa aspek yaitu aspek fisiologis, aspek psikologi, dan aspek lingkungan. Dan setiap peserta didik memiliki karakteristik tersendiri yang berbeda anatara satu dengan yang lainnya. Oleh karena itu, sangatlah penting bagi pendidik untuk memahami karakteristik peserta didik, karena hal tersebut juga akan memberikan kemudahan dalam merumuskan perangkat pembelajaran, desain pembelajaran, dan strategi pengelolaan pembelajaran, sehingga dapat menciptakan proses pembelajaran yang berjalan lancar, efektif, efisien, dan bermakna. Dan pada dasarnya pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan memang seharusnya disesuaikan dengan kondisi dan karakteristik peserta didik. Penulisan artikel ini dilakukan dengan mengkaji beberapa sumber literature atau pustaka dan juga melalui pengamatan karakteristik peserta didik di MA DDI Lil Banat Parepare pada mata pelajaran akidah akhlak. Adapun tujuan penulisan artikel ini adalah untuk mengetahui pentingnya bagi seorang pendidik memahami karakteristik peserta didik dalam perencanaan konsep pembelajaran pada mata pelajaran akidah akhlak. Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of developing curriculum components on upgrading the students’ English acquisition in State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Sorong, Southwest Papua Province Indonesia. Developing curriculum components presented goals, contents, approaches, methods, and evaluation precisely is to know the students’ English acquisition covering vocabulary, grammar, listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The sample size for this study comprises 72 students consisting of 36 students from Class A and 36 others from Class B, representing the experimental group and a control group. Those groups were selected based ona partitional clustering method. An experimental design was employed to conduct the study, which involved gathering quantitative data from the pre-test and post-test. It was to obtain the students’ English acquisition achievements. To analyze the collected data, SPSS is used for a precise and efficient process of the various necessary outputs describing meaningful conclusions. The pre-test findings conclude no significant difference in students’ achievement before treatment.After treatment, the post-test found the t-value was greater than t-table (t-value 4.690 t-table 2.000). This data strongly indicates a positive impact of developing curriculum components to improve students’ acquisition of English elements for the experimental group. This means the study summarized and emphasized the development of curriculum components precisely, structurally, systematically, and professionally for the teachers to upgrade their students’ acquisition of English elements significantly.
