Abstract

Soiled Transmitted Helminth (STH) is an infectious disease caused by earthworms. The type of worm identified as the cause of STH is dominated by Ascaris lumbricoides and 3 other types. Many studies have been carried out to monitor the results of worm death. This study aimed to determine the profile of vermicides including onset of action, duration, and effectiveness of miana leaf extract compared to the drug pyrantel pamoat. The research method is to gradually start preparing miana leaf extract using a maceration process with continuous stirring, preparing the extract, and treating worms. The worms are placed in a sterile cup, then the test material is added and observed every hour. Worm death profiles such as paralysis, death, and life were observed for each worm subject. The results showed the death profile of worms after administration of miana leaf extract concentrations of 10, 20, and 40 mg/ml and pyrantel pamoat 2.5 mg/ml gave onset of action data for 4, 3, 2, and 1 hour respectively. The working duration of the test material is 5, 5, 3, and 1 hour respectively.  The effective dose is generated by a concentration of 40 mg/ml which can kill worms starting 2 hours after administration of the test material, with a duration of 1 hour  Soiled Transmitted Helminth (STH) adalah salah satu penyakit infeksi akibat cacing tanah. Jenis cacing yang teridentifikasi sebagai penyebab STH didominasi oleh Ascaris lumbricoides dan 3 jenis lainnya, penelitian telah banyak dilakukan dengan memantau hasil akhir kematian cacing. Tujuan penelitian ini mengetahui profil vermisida meliputi onset of action, durasi dan efektivitas ekstrak daun miana yang dibandingkan dengan obat pyrantel pamoat. Metode penelitian secara bertahap mulai penyiapan ekstrak daun miana dengan proses maserasi dengan pengadukan kontinu, penyiapan ekstrak dan perlakuan terhadap cacing. Cacing dimasukkan dalam cawan steril, kemudian ditambahkan bahan uji dan diamati setiap jam. Profil kematian cacing seperti paralisis, mati dan hidup diamati setiap subyek cacing. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan profil kematian cacing setelah pemberian ekstrak daun miana konsentrasi 10, 20 dan 40 mg/ml dan pyrantel pamoat 2,5 mg/ml memberikan data onset of action berturut 4, 3, 2 dan 1 jam. Durasi kerja bahan uji berturut 5, 5, 3 dan 1 jam. Dosis efektif dihasilkan oleh konsentrasi 40 mg/ml yang dapat mematikan cacing mulai 2 jam setelah pemberian bahan uji, durasi 1 jam.

Abstract

Antioxidants are compounds that can reduce the negative impact of free radicals. Noni seeds (Morinda citrifolia L.) contain these compounds as secondary metabolites. This research is a laboratory observational study to determine and compare the antioxidant activity of ethanol extract, ethyl acetate extract, and n-hexane extract noni seeds (Morinda citrifolia L.) using the 1,1-diphenyl-2- picrylhydrazyl method using a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 516 nm. The results showed that the IC50 value of the ethanol extract of noni fruit seeds was 507.75 ppm and the IC50 value of the ethyl acetate extract of noni fruit seeds was 43.18 ppm, while the n-hexane extract of noni fruit seeds had inactive antioxidant activity. The antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of noni seeds is in the weak category and the antioxidant activity of the ethyl acetate extract is in the very strong category. The extracting solution that produces noni seed extract with the highest antioxidant activity is ethyl acetate solvent

Abstract

Education On The Importance of Maintaining Eve Health in Students of State Primary School State Sambung Jaya Complex Makassar CityThe use of electronic devices, especially gadgets, too often and for long periods of time by children, especially those attending elementary school level, can have an impact on eye health. Education for elementary school students regarding eye health is one way to provide knowledge to elementary school students regarding this matter. This education is a form of community service activity. The aim of this activity is to increase the knowledge of students at the Sambung Jawa Complex Public Elementary School regarding eye health and increase children's awareness of maintaining eye health. The target of this activity is students at the Sambung Jawa Complex Public Elementary School, Makassar City. Activity Method: This activity is in the form of education carried out using the lecture method by presenting interesting material, showing videos and games related to eye health. The output of this activity is in the form of scientific articles published on devotional media and videos of activities uploaded on the youtube media platform which can be accessed at the following link: https://youtube.com/shorts/KTvdrnS8bE8 . The conclusion obtained by this activity went well and smoothly and there was an increase in the knowledge of the target audience by 91,67%.Penggunaan perangkat elektronik khususnya gadget yang terlalu sering dan dalam jangka waktu yang lama oleh anak-anak khususnya yang bersekolah pada tingkat Sekolah dasar dapat berdampak pada gangguan pada kesehatan mata. Edukasi terhadap siswa-siswi SD mengenai kesehatan mata merupakan salah satu cara untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman kepada siswa-siswi SD mengenai hal tersebut. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa-siswi SD Negeri Kompleks Sambung Jawa mengenai kesehatan mata serta meningkatkan kesadaran anak-anak dalam menjaga kesehatan mata. Khalayak sasaran dari kegiatan ini adalah Siswa-siswi SD Negeri Kompleks Sambung Jawa Kota Makassar. Metode Kegiatan: Kegiatan ini berupa sosialisasi dan edukasi yang dilakukan dengan metode ceramah dengan menampilkan materi yang menarik, penayangan video dan permainan interaktif yang berkaitan dengan kesehatan mata. Capaian luaran dari kegiatan pengabdian ini berupa artikel ilmiah yang dipublikasi pada media pengabdian dan video kegiatan yang diuplod pada pada platform media youtube yang dapat diakses pada link berikut : https://youtube.com/shorts/KTvdrnS8bE8. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh kegiatan ini berlangsung dengan baik dan lancar serta terdapatnya peningkatan pengetahuan khalayak sasaran sebesar 91,67%

Abstract

Pa'baeng-baeng Village, Tamalate District, Makassar City, is a densely populated area located in the middle of the city, connecting Makassar City and Kab. Gowa. Blocked drainage, dense population, and air pollution put people at risk of infection with infectious diseases such as ISPA. This condition can be prevented if people diligently consume immunomodulator products to improve their immune system. The immune system can be maintained and improved by using plants, and to make it easier it can be packaged in the form of herbal drinks (herbal tea and instant powder). This activity aims to increase partners' knowledge about the benefits of bay leaves and ginger rhizomes for health, processing bay leaves and ginger rhizomes into simplicia, and increasing partners' skills in processing bay leaf simplicia and ginger rhizomes as health herbal drinks. The activity was carried out in 2 stages, namely socialization and training in making herbal drinks for family health. The target audience is posyandu cadres, Pa'baeng-baeng Village, Tamalate District, Makassar City. The results of the activity showed that there was an increase in knowledge from target partners by 71% regarding the benefits of bay leaves and ginger rhizomes for health, especially ISPA, the correct and correct way to make simplicia and making herbal drinks (herbal tea and instant powder) combining bay leaves and ginger rhizomes. Apart from that, draft articles, activity videos, product-making videos, modules, and herbal drink products were producedKelurahan Pa’baeng-baeng, Kecamatan Tamalate, Kota Makassar merupakan wilayah padat penduduk yang terletak di tengah kota menghubungkan Kota Makassar dan Kab. Gowa. Drainase yang tersumbat, padatnya penduduk dan polusi udara menyebabkan masyarakat beresiko terinfeksi penyakit menular seperti ISPA. Kondisi ini dapat dicegah apabila masyarakat rajin mengkonsumsi produk immunomodulator untuk meningkatkan system imun. Sistem imun dapat dijaga dan ditingkatkan dengan memanfaatkan tanaman dan untuk memudahkannya dapat dikemas dalam bentuk minuman herbal (teh herbal dan serbuk instan). Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan mitra tentang manfaat Daun Salam dan Rimpang Jahe untuk Kesehatan, pengolahan Daun Salam dan Rimpang Jahe menjadi simplisia, dan meningkatkan keterampilan mitra dalam mengolah simplisia Daun Salam dan Rimpang Jahe sebagai minuman herbal kesehatan. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dalam 2 tahap yaitu sosialisasi dan pelatihan pembuatan minuman herbal untuk Kesehatan keluarga. Khalayak sasaran adalah kader posyandu Kelurahan Pa’baeng-baeng, Kecamatan Tamalate, Kota Makassar. Hasil dari kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dari mitra sasaran sebesar 71% tentang manfaat Daun Salam dan Rimpang Jahe untuk kesehatan terutama ISPA, cara pembuatan simplisia yang baik dan benar serta pembuatan minuman herbal (teh herbal dan serbuk instan) kombinasi Daun Salam dan Rimpang Jahe. Selain itu dihasilkan draft artikel, video kegiatan, video pembuatan produk, modul dan produk minuman herba.

Abstract

Adolescents are individuals who are experiencing physical, psychological, and behavioral changes from childhood to adulthood. Teenagers are the future generation of the nation, so they need to be equipped with everything important to prepare for their future, including knowledge about reproductive health. The purpose of community service is to provide counseling to increase knowledge about reproductive organs and how to maintain reproductive health among adolescents. The activity methods are counseling, games, and discussions. The target audience of this program is grade VII students of SMPN 24 Makassar. Evaluation of activities with online pre-test and post-test questionnaires to assess the increase in participants' knowledge. The results of the activity demonstrated a high level of interest from the participants, as evidenced by their enthusiasm in participating in discussions and games, and an increase in knowledge, as indicated by the comparison of scores obtained in the pre-test and post-test. The conclusion is that there was an increase in participant knowledge from 27.6% to 96.5% after the counseling.Remaja adalah individu yang sedang mengalami perubahan fisik, psikis dan perilaku dari anak-anak menuju dewasa. Remaja adalah calon penerus generasi bangsa sehingga perlu dibekali segala hal yang penting untuk persiapan masa depannya termasuk pengetahuan tentang kesehatan reproduksi.  Tujuan pengabdian adalah melakukan penyuluhan untuk  meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang organ reproduksi dan cara menjaga kesehatan reproduksi pada kalangan remaja. Metode kegiatan berupa penyuluhan, games dan diskusi. Khalayak sasaran program ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMPN 24 Makassar.  Evaluasi kegiatan  dengan kuisioner pre test dan post test secara online untuk menilai peningkatan pengetahuan peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan minat yang baik dari peserta yang ditunjukkan oleh antusias peserta mngikuti diskusi dan games, peningkatan pengetahuan yang ditunjukkan oleh perbandingan nilai yang diperoleh pada pre test dan post test.  Kesimpulan terjadi  peningkatan pengetahuan peserta dari 27,6 %   menjadi 96,5 % setelah penyuluhan.

Abstract

Pegagan (Centella asiatica L.) is widely known as a traditional medicine with various properties, including as an antibacterial. This study aims to isolate endophytic fungi from Pegagan leaves that have the potential to produce antibacterial secondary metabolites against Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionibacterium acnes. Isolation was carried out by leaf sterilization and inoculation on SDA media, followed by fermentation and extraction using ethyl acetate. Antibacterial activity tests were carried out using the agar diffusion method. Five isolates were obtained: PTH (Cylindrocladium), HJ (Aspergillus flavus), CRM (Aspergillus terreus), ABAB (Colletotrichum sp.), and CKT (Aspergillus niger). All isolates were bactericidal against S. epidermidis. Three isolates (HJ, CRM, and CKT) were bactericidal against P. acnes, while PTH and ABAB isolates were bacteriostatic. Tanaman Pegagan (Centella asiatica L.) dikenal luas sebagai obat tradisional dengan berbagai khasiat, termasuk sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengisolasi fungi endofit dari daun Pegagan yang berpotensi menghasilkan metabolit sekunder antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus epidermidis dan Propionibacterium acnes. Isolasi dilakukan melalui sterilisasi daun dan inokulasi pada media SDA, dilanjutkan fermentasi dan ekstraksi menggunakan etil asetat. Uji aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan metode difusi agar. Diperoleh lima isolat: PTH (Cylindrocladium), HJ (Aspergillus flavus), CRM (Aspergillus terreus), ABAB (Colletotrichum sp.), dan CKT (Aspergillus niger). Seluruh isolat bersifat bakteriosida terhadap S. epidermidis. Tiga isolat (HJ, CRM, dan CKT) bersifat bakteriosida terhadap P. acnes, sedangkan isolat PTH dan ABAB bersifat bakteriostatik.

Abstract

Background: The development of sunscreen preparations has led to the use of natural ingredients as active substances. Robusta coffee leaves (Coffea canephora) contain alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins and steroids. From previous research the SPF value of its ethanol extract at 150 ppm was 12,989 (Maximum protection). The sunscreen activity of its fractions need to be determined, to find out which one has the highest potential sunscreen activities Method: Sunscreen activity examination was carried out in vitro using a UV spectrophotometer. The concetntration of each fraction used was 150 ppm. Results: The N-hexane, ethyl acetate and butanol fractions have sunscreen activity with extra protective power, SPF values respectively were 6.006, 7.609, and 8.046. This activities arises from the content of flavonoids, phenolics and tannins. While the remaining water fraction has the lowest protective activity, with SPF value 3.985 and only contain tannin. Compared to Its ethanol extract, the ethanol extract has better sunscreen activit, because at a 150 ppm it has SPF value 12.989 (Maximum sunscreen activity) Conclusion: the sunscreen activity of this fraction is lower than its ethanol extract. Abstract

Kulit Buah Langsat (Lansium domesticum L) memiliki senyawa yang dapat dipakai sebagai tabir surya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai SPF dan aktivitas tabir surya Ekstrak Kulit Buah Langsat (Lansium domesticum L). Maserasi merupakan teknik ekstraksi yang digunakan. Spektrofotometri UV-Vis digunakan untuk menghitung nilai SPF. Ekstrak Kulit Buah Langsat (Lansium domesticum L) dibuat dalam etanol 96 persen pada konsentrasi 500 ppm, 1000 ppm, 1500 ppm, 2000 ppm, dan 2500 ppm. Menghasilkan nilai SPF pada konsentrasi 500 ppm 1,78, 1000 ppm 4,5 (Minimum), 1500 ppm 6,23 (Ekstra), 2000 ppm 8,58 ppm (Maksimum), dan 2500 ppm 10,42. (Maksimum). Karena nilai SPFnya, Ekstrak Kulit Buah Langsat (Lansium domesticum L) berpotensi untuk dipakai sebagai tabir surya termasuk dalam rentang kategori minimal-maksimum.
