Abstract

This study examines the concepts of zakat, infaq, and shadaqah (ZIS) in the Qur'ān through Toshihiko Izutsu’s semantic approach and Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas’s Islamic worldview paradigm. Unlike previous research focusing solely on lexical meanings, this study aims to address the gap in understanding how ZIS functions beyond mere terminology, as practical instruments for spiritual purification, social welfare, and economic justice within the Islamic value system. Motivated by the global challenges of sustainable development and social inequality, the research explores how Islamic charitable concepts can contribute to contemporary development goals. The primary objective is to trace the semantic transformation of these terms from their pre-Qur’ānic roots to their post-Qur’ānic developments, and to interpret their actualization as spiritual, social, and economic instruments aligned with key sustainable development priorities. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive method with textual content analysis of classical Qur’anic exegesis, Arabic lexicography, and relevant global development documents. Findings reveal that zakat signifies purification and growth, infaq represents conscious and value-driven expenditure, and shadaqah reflects sincerity and spiritual truthfulness. Together, these concepts contribute to poverty alleviation, promotion of social justice, and strengthening of community cohesion. The integration of semantic and Islamic worldview approaches demonstrates that ZIS is not merely a financial obligation but an integral component of the Islamic epistemic framework, uniting linguistic, spiritual, and sociological dimensions. This study affirms the relevance of ZIS as an instrument for sustainable development and offers a novel methodological contribution to Islamic studies that is both contextual and transformative.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the Islamic law that lives in society and the community's response to Islamic law in the Batu Bara Sayur Garden Village. The method used in this research is field research which is used to collect information through interviews with a number of elements of society and through field observations. According to the Shafi'i School, everyone who is invited is obliged to attend the invitation, but the invitation will be void if there is an excuse. However, in the village of Batu Bara Vegetable Gardens, attending a walimah's invitation is considered a normal thing, when they are invited they don't seem to care and don't give a clear reason why they don't attend the walimah's invitation. When attending a walimah invitation, you also need to look at the terms and criteria regarding whether or not the walimah is required to attend. The results of this research show that the implementation of the law of not attending a walimah's invitation intentionally is a sinful act, because according to the Syafi'i School of Law, attending a Walimah's invitation is fardhu 'ain, and this is not practiced and implemented properly by the Batu Bara Vegetable Garden Village Community.

Abstract

The advancement of social media has introduced a new phenomenon in the culinary world: the emergence of food vloggers whose reviews can influence the image, reputation, and even the sustainability of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Positive reviews can boost popularity, sales, and consumer trust, while negative and unobjective reviews have the potential to cause economic losses and even business closures. This research aims to analyze the forms of legal protection for culinary MSME owners affected by food vlogger reviews and to examine the views of Imam Ibnu Qudamah from an Islamic legal perspective. The method used is empirical legal research with a sociological approach through interviews, field observations, as well as a review of literature and regulations, such as the ITE Law, Consumer Protection Law, and the Civil Code. The results show that legal protection can be pursued through litigation (civil and criminal) as well as non-litigation channels (mediation and clarification). Imam Ibnu Qudamah's perspective emphasizes the principles of honesty, the prohibition of tadlis (deception), and proper manners in delivering criticism so that it does not fall into the categories of ghibah (backbiting) or slander. Case studies on Angkringan P2K and BURNI Coffee demonstrate that while food vlogger reviews bring great promotional opportunities, the risks of excessive expectations and negative reputation are also unavoidable. Therefore, food vloggers are required to be ethical, honest, and objective, while MSME owners need to maintain quality and understand the mechanisms of legal protection. These findings underscore the importance of balancing freedom of expression on social media with the protection of MSME rights to create a fair and sustainable culinary ecosystem.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of fatherlessness from an Islamic legal perspective and explores its implications for family resilience, as well as how fathers’ responsibilities are enacted within households in Tanjungbalai City. Employing a qualitative design that integrates yuridical-normative and sociological approaches, the research draws on primary data from in-depth interviews with affected families and community leaders and on secondary sources consisting of Islamic legal literature and relevant policy documents. Findings indicate that Islamic law positions the father as a central figure (qawwam) charged with provision, caregiving, moral formation, and spiritual guidance. Empirical evidence from the field reveals prevalent forms of fatherlessness that are functional and emotional in nature, where fathers remain biologically present but are insufficiently engaged in psychosocial caregiving. This gap weakens family resilience across economic, socio-psychological, and spiritual dimensions, although some households demonstrate adaptive capacities owing to maternal roles and local social support networks. The study recommends strengthening fathers’ engagement through targeted parenting education, community-based interventions, and family-friendly policies, and calls for coordinated action by families, religious institutions, and governmental agencies to safeguard children’s rights and bolster family resilience.
